New release is Conquest: Frontier Wars, an interesting looking space RTS.
I've played that there videogame. It was pretty fun at the time but I doubt it holds up terribly well now. Basically think of it like Sins of a Solar Empire only made in 2001 and more fun and less fucking grindy/slow/ponderous/shitfuckshit. Had systems which were maps 'o planets, and then wormholes between systems, and it had a logistics system where your fleets could run out of ammo if they weren't in a supplied system and any supply ships you had with them ran dry. Also had admirals which let you partially automate fleets and give bonuses and shit. I enjoyed it.

That was a very good game, at least when I was I kid I enjoyed it a lot. And the reviewers are right, it's a less complicated version of Homeworld.

Starting on the 23rd this package from Gamestop for $12 and I'm pretty sure it's a DRM free version: http://www.gamestop.com/pc/games/dd-ultimate-pack/102768

Includes:

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 + Expansions
Icewind Dale 1 & 2 + Expansions
Planescape: Torment
Temple of Elemental Evil
Neverwinter Nights + 3 Expansion Packs
Neverwinter Nights 2 + 3 Expansions Packs

Beats the crap out of any price you'll see from GOG who rarely discount the D&D stuff under 50% individually.

I have all of these except the expansion packs for NWN 2.

I saw Gamersgate had the Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter Nights Complete, which includes NWN 2 + expansions, for sale, but there was a warning that it doesn't work on a 64 bits OS. Anyone know if that is particular for that collection, or is there a problem with the NWN 2 games on 64 bits systems?

BTW, "D&D Ultimate Pack" is a bad name for a collection that does not include the Gold Box, Dark Sun and the other SSI classics.

Isn't the Win7 64bit error caused by it failing to install an old version of DirectX at the end or something equally silly?

Why aren't the Codex worshipping at the feet of GOG? Of the seven most sold games are Planescape:Torment, Fallout 1 and 2, and Arcanum.

So it's just a error message that doesn't matter in practice?

I love GOG and get most of my games there because they are DRM free and don't push to include intrusive software on my computer like Steam requires. On the other hand, a number of games that used to be available on Abandonia no longer are because of GOG, so it's a double-edged sword.

Well, personally I don't have a problem with that, but if I really wanted to get good old games for free I know some abandonware sites that are not as honourable as Abandonia...

I believe that's the exact version I got from Gamersgate and I just tested it. I first made sure DX9 was up to date using the web installer, then installed the games and it went fine. The only thing that stood out was it wanted to install .Net 2.0 which isn't necessary and won't install on a Win 7 machine so I just skipped that. Win7-HP SP1 64bit here.

Both games started fine and the updaters say they're both at the latest patch level.

Of course, that's no guarantee that it'll work for you but I had no problem.

Defender's Quest now available for $6 on a GOG sale for the next 24 hours. Supposedly, the latest version has an option to disable the auto-report, auto-update and Adobe AIR functions that were present in the earlier versions, which is one of the main reasons I didn't pick this up before.

Steam version doesn't include MoW :P

But there's a chance it will be back on Steam soon and maybe they'll update it.

I just noticed it on GOG. I'll buy it and suffer through the shit-tier generic garbage that is the original campaign (I only made it through a couple hours' worth when I first played the game years ago; I threw the box and disc in the trash, so they're gone) in order to reach Mask of the Betrayer, so that I can finally see this supposedly amazing gameplay you shitheads are forever grunting and squealing about.

Actually, is there a way to skip the OC? I'll be looking into it.

Of course there is. You can load up any campaign you want.

Sheesh, violent reaction much? You could have sold it on ebay or something.
