"This message is awaiting moderator approval": All new users must pass through our moderation queue before they will be able to post normally. Until your account has "passed" your posts will only be visible to yourself (and moderators) until they are approved. Give us a week to get around to approving / deleting / ignoring your mundane opinion on crap before hassling us about it. Once you have passed the moderation period (think of it as a test), you will be able to post normally, just like all the other retards.

We need the ability to ignore users. NOW.

You newcomers sure aren't shy about your sense of entitlement. If can't use your brain to parse out the bullshit, you sure as hell don't belong here. Run back to the ESF play-pen if you can't handle opinions, attitudes, or shock-porn that you don't like. There's no hand-holding here.

@Vipera: You're not the popular-girl in junior high anymore, so your little lists have no social cachet to matter to anyone other than your ego. Go play some games besides the TES.

This has been asked for before and denied. If you have a desperate need to be a cocksucker, add a "People who's posts I'm ignoring" line to your signature or something.

If you really hate volourn then attack him with every chance you get and use his history against him. He once cried like a bitch because we found out he was a raging wrestling fan and left for awhile. If it bleeds then we can kill it.
Volourn's wrestling reviews.
Maybe she should change her name to "Volourn Hoganblade" ...

Having no ignore function is much more egalitarian.

Ah. Hmm. I'm not really here for egalitarian ideals. Since I learned that the ignore feature works, I've added a few people to my ignore list. I'm surprised at how good it is to read the forums now.

But to each his own. If you like it as-is, you like it as-is.

Maybe the first step in taking your own advice would be to use your brain to "parse out" the posts of these newcomers.

Oh no, someone criticized me--better add them to my ignore list! Wouldn't want to see anything I don't like ...

Wow. I love it! This thread has been more entertaining than I imagined! And the best part about it is how I've been lumped in with the "newcomers", even though I've been posting regularly here for over a year now.

Oh... wait... that's right. I forgot that post count is equal to dick size.

Actually, you have to go hunting with Saint and stalk Volourn to really get in to the inner circle.

@D4: I don't really consider you a newcomer per se, I don't have anything against you, and you definitely don't deserve to be lumped in with lame riff raff like Vipera, but your post was really lame and seemed to exhibit such an unappreciation of what the 'Codex represents that you took some heat, too. Consider it the consequence of being a rogue with too low a dex in a room full of fire-ball flinging wizards. (Of course, that joke will be lost on those who've only played TES games.)

It was a kneejerk reaction. I'm trying to follow the NWN2 threads, and since I have the game myself, was interested in the opinions of those who've been playing it longer than me. I'm fearing a 20th hour peter-out, where it just goes "blah" and is no longer fun or interesting. That, and I do value most of the opinions here about RPGs.

So anyway, I go to those threads to check out the new posts, and all I'm taking away from them are Volourn's insane, senseless ravings. It's like he's doing damage control, but for neither Obsidian nor the fanbase. I usually just ignore the guy on my own, but good God, when will enough be enough?

I dunno... I guess I should have left it alone, but at the moment I made this thread, I was damned near murderous.

Yes, yes, give into your rage.

We take serious issue with censorship here at the RPG Codex, but if you stop and think about it, RPGs are basically all about murdering those that get in the way of your goals.

I don't like the ignore feature; it has some unsettling, almost solipsistic qualities.

Imagine some poor soul that, after years and years participating in the forums (perhaps with awkward, exceeedingly controversial posts), finds out that everybody has ignored him. That no one has read his posts, or even took the effort to scroll past them. All his communication attempts were futile, without his knowledge. Oh, the horror. To ban people outright would be a much more lenient punishment.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD IS ANYONE READING THIS POST

That some choice soft language.

Ignore features lick salty balls. The ignored aren't aware that they're being ignored and go on posting happily. The person doing the ignoring eyes blank spaces and context free follow-up posts. Great.

And, providing the ignored has any semblance of intelligence, the ignorer ends up looking like a dumbfuck.

I think the fact that Volly compares Macho vs. Steamboat to a wet-dream has once and for all given away her gender. Maybe she should be known as Miss Elizabeth.

By the way, have I really been put on an ignore list? Cool!

Well, that was just an example. But I have to admit it gives me warm fuzzies to see it getting to you.

A year is nothing, KC has been around that long and has half a million posts but i doubt anyone would give a toss if he left. I've been here a little longer than twinfalls...and i bet no one knew that.

Why? This site has certainly become a refuge for those want to bash/realistically review/criticise Oblivion, NWN, and many other heathen RPG's without having to read a bunch of shit from 24850015145 fanboys. It's like we have one big IGNORE button for the ESF forums.
Yeah. Now we have to read a bunch of shit from a buch of callous bastards.

...ugh, man have I had a bad day...

Why would you have to? Are our words so compelling? You could, you know, *bugger off and go do something else*?

I'm finding it a bit of a double edged sword. I came here to glean knowlegde but I have to go through posts along the lines of something I would find in Gaia Chatterbox.

Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
Dear furry, it's YOUR job to ignore the dumb posts. They have always been a part of the Codex, either as means of entertainment or as an exchange of insults fueled by powerful hatred for the other's opinion. If you stick around long enough, you'll see that the posters can be quite sensible and intelligent if the topic warrants the effort.

Just grow a thicker skin. And more fur.
