Well, I assume this will be the look of the final game, maybe even better, not just "built" screenshots, no?

This stuff here looks better that LoG, at least in art direction, if not in number of shaders per square cm.

Nice update, thanks! And good to know more people joined the team. So it will certainly stay an official work in progress, in comparison to Thorvalla.

nice graphics, but those character portraits give off a "cheap Asian f2p mmo" vibe. I guess he still has his completely untalented wife doing the artwork.

They are a far shot from being done by some completely untalented artist.
Not top notch, but good enough, imho.

are you kidding me? They look like taken straight from the ad banners for "Wartune" and other shitty f2p MMOs that show up when I'm browsing the 'dex. I guess they are ok "mechanically" but they till look like shit.

I really like how this project is progressing. At the start it didn't look very promising, but now it certainly does. Eyecandy is nice, but what's more important, mr. Henkel is building a very solid team, it seems.

Looking pretty good IMO, though would love to see it in action and for them to release some details about the systems they will be using. Did he by chance mention a release time frame? We talking years here?

I'm digging the atmosphere and quality of the environments - definitely inclined from the first shots. Indeed the portraits don't quite mesh - but I can live with them.

Ooh, pretty.

Still don't know what to expect from this one. Explain your game to me Guido!

It's basically Grimrock with turn-based combat, a real story, NPC's and different locations.

Starting out as street musicians you build up your reputation to become the ultimate heavy metal hero. While skilling each "instrument" of the 4 party members you must sing of "power and glory" in distant countries, dig out skeletons from graves and "transform" opponents into skeletons (all while wearing black masks and leather suits). Like an evil viking conqueror. Like a bawss. Eventually you reach the ultimate goal, which allows you to name your band "Deathfire".

Thorvalla looked and was a half assed attempt at a Kickstarter. This actually looks like a real project with a lot of thought and time put into it. I didn't pledge to Thorvalla, but I'd throw 30 bucks at this one in a second.

he's not interested in kickstarter unless he can buy asian women in golden bikinis to code the game for him. any $ not being a neat Dr. Evil sum is simple not worth going to Kickstarter for. "nyeaaah-ha-hah! the plebs! they gave me a million dollars!"
probably not, but that's how it feels.
a fucking million for thorvalla. hahaha. I laugh when I think about it.

Well, it has made my list of prospective purchases, which is more than I can say when I first heard of it.

Except it isn't turn-based, but real-time combat. Unless Guido wen't back on his previous comment - he said: "Running in a first-person view, it is a party-based real-time role-playing game with a focus on the story." And because of that comment, I abandoned my hopes for a proper RoA 4...

Also, up-thread someone was hoping for Guido to hire Mr. Halford, which of course brought (with a game name like "Deathfire" and all) Rob Halford to my mind (sorry, Neal). Now, THAT would be interesting! Breakin' the law, breakin' the law!

Maybe you should do a little reading:

Guido Henkel said:
Despite this general real-time approach to the environment, the combat system will be a turn-based system that, once again, dives deeper into role playing elements than any real time game possibly could. We have not revealed any details about combat at this time, but I would like you to know that it will be an engaging experience that offers plenty of options for the player.

Derp. I stand corrected. (Guido's previous talk about Dungeon Master as an influence and wanting "in your face" action fooled me.)
I think Guido originally was talking about real-time but at some point changed his mind or came to his senses. In the podcast interview I heard a couple months ago he was also talking about potential tactical turn-based combat (ala RoA / Gold Box).

Overground exploration? Source? "Different locations" doesn't necessarily mean overground exploration.

It's always good to have the sources :)

Indoor locations such as this dungeon are only one way how you will experience the game world. Outdoor environments will make up another big part of the game and hopefully we’ll be able to give you a first glimpse at an example of such an environment soon as well.

so from what I gathered from that screenshot I saw was that this game is gonna have the story depth of Torment, the open worldiness of Skyrim and the character creation & development of Arcanum...
