They sure are coming across as desperate with all these announcements of announcements.
uh, no.

if they were ever desperate, it was when they were using their Shadowrun channels to promote a completely unrelated tabletop game.

announcements of announcements etc is just good marketing.

Announcements of announcements are standard PR practice these days.

My biggest problem with ks games is that I no longer want to play that game by the time it comes out. there is no way I would back anyone again, I would just buy the game if I want it once it's out.

They redeemed themselves with Dragonfall, so I'm all for another expansion.

Is it really necessary to use kickstarter for every project nowadays though? They already have the engine and the money from the first two games, is that not enough to funds work on an expansion without the begging? Or is kickstarter these days just a marketing outlet.

What the fuck, what kind of arument is that?
I have different gaming mood phases too (like, one month I feel like playing RPGs, another I'm more in a strategy mood, another in a FPS mood), but how can you be interested enough in a game to pay money for it, but a year later not want to play it anymore even though you haven't even touched it yet?

This is probably the weirdest thing I've ever read on the Codex. Well, gaming-related thing, anyway.

They patched both campaigns to allow manual saving.

On a side note, i really like Shadowrun, but having like 5-6 threads about it within a few days feels like overkill...

I imagine that it has something to do with him reading too much about the game's development in Kickstarter updates, which somehow takes the magic out of its newness. Being locked into the investor/analyst mindset versus the consumer/player mindset.

They didn't sell well and they gave Director's Cut out to backers and DMS/DF purchasers for free.

HBS probably has enough cash to make another expansion (could have been more though, e.g. all of the backers got Dragonfall for free). I suppose they just want to make a bigger game with a larger scope and require additional funding to do so.

It's not an argument, it's more of a statement of how things are and I don't read ks updates. and it's more like 3 years, what is a very long time and people change, demands change.

But it's still a game of a genre you like, why would you not want to play it anymore? I don't get it, as it doesn't make any sense.

was interested in their first try at this shadowrun bizness but after educating myself on codex in all maters shadowrun related i came to conclusion that ios game is not for me
so i skipped it comepletly
since then i tried dragonfall and i must say its a pleasant surprise
sure it could contain more weapon customization and more side missions / random generated runs as it should to make it more "vibrant" and all that
but all in all its realy solid game 8/10 would bang again and all that :)

so i will look forward to this new one with hopes of more varied content and some "fixes"/changes to make it more in line with shadowruns of the old ...

It will be interesting to see how they structure this second kickstarter.

As for why they're doing it... the money is low risk and they probably need at least a little more funding.

I'd personally prefer game companies went to us for initial money than to some bank or publisher. The bank has little vested interest in the product. And the publisher will do everything in its power to maximize profit.

If it's up to us to provide the funding, then that means their pitch at least needs to align with our desires. They can deliver a stupid mobile game if they want to, but they didn't even manage that in DMS.

Looking forward to this. Dragonfall was a decent improvement on the first campaign, I just hope they focus on making the missions more open-ended outside dialogue options.

Some first world problems right here.

Off-topic but does Dragonfall-director's cut contain the original campaign as well or do i have to get the original shadowrun for that, presuming it's worth it.

No it does not. Dead Mans Switch is................................OK. But Dragonfall is vastly superior. Period.

They need to expand on the mechanics. If they don't I'm out.
