It seems this guy wiped out the whole base. Poor soul...

I loved that Jackhammer in F2, it is first time I seen a weapon like that. You can get a similar weapon in Max Payne (not sure if in 1 or 2), I used it a lot in that game because of F2 :D:D

Ah, yes! It always reminds me of Max Payne 1. Although it was the other way around for me - used it a lot in F2 because of Max Payne :D

Isn't it impossible to get 2 AP without suffering jet addiction or something?

Looks like a joke on his part.

It's a joke but what makes it really good is that the guy started a thread some weeks ago in the lines of "I can't get past the temple of trials, what's wrong? this is my build btw". Given how few people get satire in these times, most anons dogpiled and laughed at him. Yet he kept at it, informing of his progress in new threads. And now he's there and killed Horrigan with the turrets. I guess he made this in response to all the retards complaining that you couldn't use every single build to beat the old Fallouts, mostly just to defend FO4 "lack of roleplay". I think I laughed more at his perks than the 2AP thing.

It's from 4chan btw, not 8chan

It's not big deal even with 2 AP if you know where to find stuff and how things work. Horrigan can be defeated by activating turrets and convincing Granite's team to do dirty work for you. If you have beefed up companions, at least one, let's say Sulik who wields Super Sledge or 2.23 Pistol with APA then you can just sit back and click end turn 3 times to be over with Frankie.

If you know you can get power armor and plasma rifle from Navarro then you are set for rest of the game. Oil Rig can be done by dismissing NPCs and walking in Power Armor. Most quests favor non combat approach and if you have 10 CH then you don't even have to participate in fights, Marcus with Turbo-plasma, Cassidy with FN FAL HPFA will win you most of the fights if you set correct orders for them.

Try beating the game without picking any perks, leveling up skills, having all stats set to one and traits like Jinxed or Kamikaze that can backfire at you. Picking up even most stupid perks won't make beating the game impossible if you have decent party or if you have high sneak skill.

But then again what idiot would play like that?

Using Jet to screw with enemy's AP is a great idea. Unlike super stimpacks Jet is mad cheap and there's probably tons of enemies that can be AP-fucked into not being able to shoot a 5 or 6 AP gun. Bet you could take down Metzger's gang pretty early on.

Update on my progress:

I feel like an idiot for not knowing that you can use holo tapes on machines thus making some simple quests in Vault City and Geko a real pain. I kept reloading and running around like headless chicken thinking that I need to do something before or the quests got bugged but in one of them you were just supposed to use the tape on one of the terminals inside the plant. Ofc I saw the damn machine very late since I persuaded someone to fix the reactor for me so I had no idea about that machine. The more you know...

Got my car finally and cash is slowly starting to come in. Companions are still packed with loot but it's not so bad at the moment. Working on clearing the mines in Redding for the mayor and looking for some chip though I have not decided who to give to. Depending on who gets it, New Reno mob or NCR gain influence in the area but I have yet to encounter any so I might wait until doing this quest a bit. I wasn't a big fan of the NCR in New Vegas but maybe here they are different.

Oh and I got my energy weapons skill maxed though still no energy wep. Is 200 in it overkill? I did not take small guns past 120 and all was fine so far in terms of combat.

More than around 120-140ish is overkill unless going for aimed shots to the eyes, which gives you a 60% penalty.

Ugh I can't decide what family to join in Reno. I mean the Wrights seem to be less evil than the rest but I am not sure about that in the long run. Decisions decisions...

Do you get some warning when killing important NPC characters, kind of like in Morrowind? I was tempted to shoot the gun dealer in Reno and loot him but I thought he might be useful later, especially since he did not have anything special when I visited him.

Shoot everyone on sight. There is no warning, I think you can beat the game killing everyone. Not sure though.

As for the mafiosos:
You can join every one of them.

Why do you feel that you have to join anyone? Fuck the ladies, kill the bosses, go on a ightseeing tour in a military base, then leave them alone with their petty squabbles and go on to better, bigger things.

Drop any LARPy pretense and remember who you really are - a tribal murderhobo straight outta backwater village on a holy quest to save a bunch of people no one but you cares or even knows about.

I don't have to join anyone but I want to do it. Trying to overcome my female tribal condition is part of the fun and with 9 INT and with ability to use energy weapons and some science skill, I am not quite so primitive.

Oh and I am going to kill all bosses eventually, for the greater good of New Reno (hopefully). I will probably become some kind of Wasteland Messiah at the end of the game though right now my poor girl is being slaughtered by turrets at the Sierra Army Depot. :negative:

He'll be useful, but mostly because of something initially hidden. Who knew you could even upgrade the powerfist?!

Families in New Reno if I remember correctly become hostile when you approach them as a made man from another family, aka when you finish all the quests for a particular family, usually 2 or 3 ( ? ). So you can do 1 or 2 quests for each family for the XP and then choose to align yourself with whoever you want, if you want to aligh yourself with anybody, that is if you don't want to butcher them after finished their questline.
I think you can also refuse to become a made man for a family, but unless I'm mistaken this turns the entire family hostile?

Don't think about it too much though, just go with anyone that feels cool to you. Some families offer some content that it's either "exclusive" or more tricky to find without em though, but don't give a shit about it- you'll have plenty of time to try different stuff on your next playthrough.

Every time I replay Fallout 2 f.e, I deliver the package to Bishop so I can roam freely in his upper floor which in turn makes me able to freely loot his safes and women's vaginas before murdering the shit out of everything that moves in his casino. It's always funny to be part of a huge brawl where casino guards miss and burst the shit out of gamblers only for them to try to fight back, hookers getting loaded on jet and attacking the bouncers outside with punches and you and your team wrecking havoc in the middle of it all. It's not only funny it's refreshing.
And after I become a made man I make an example by pulverizing all other casinos anyway.

Families turn hostile, but bosses don't. So, with some sneaking and right families order you can be made man in all 4.

Not going to bother with reading 179 messages. But my FO2 games usually started the same way.

1: Head straight for New Reno
2: get sample of free jet from the greeter at the entrance
3: Go to the casino, go upstairs
4: Close door, use jet on Big Jesus.
5: loot room for combat shotgun, shells and armor
6: go back to klamath

Made early levelling a breeze

Wrights are selling booze and have some lowlifes or perhaps slaves working in distillery. So they aren't that nice as the game tries to suggest. Alcohol is a drug too, no? So I usually try to cheat on all of them, and let Wrights gain control of New Reno without SAD weapons while avoiding end-overriding contition of sleeping with Leslie Ann/Angela without condoms. That's the best you can get for Biggest Small City.

I usually do this:
Bishops: Easiest one. Get briefcase from preacher in Vault City. Speak with the guard on the second floor and tell him you have package for Mr. Bishop. On your way to him, sleep with Angela while having condoms of your choice, then rob the place without touching Bishop's safe. Deliver the briefcase to Bishop and get first job to murder Roger Westin. Go to him and get counter-proposal. Accept and go sleep with Bishop's wife while pumped up with mentats and buffout while having condoms of your choice to squeze her out of all useful information (you can suggest that she should assassinate him but I never got that one working, get speech-improving module, all the details about family etc. You can become Pornstar to have easier time as she will fall asleep if you performed weak). As you are done with her, open up her safe with the code she mutters while sleeping then proceed to disarm the trap and open Bishop's safe. Get all goodies, rearm the trap, use Repair skill, tell Bishop that you are still on the job. Wait on the second floor for the explosion. Return to Westin for reward.
Wrights: Do Mrs. Wright quest before becoming Pornstar or otherwise she won't talk to you unless doing first quest for Mr. Wright. Remember to not blow up distillery before you are done with Mr. Wright or otherwise he may turn hostile while speaking with him. Get the first quest and say Salvadore's are responsible after completing invastigation. Get the second quest, proceed to SAD. After you are done there, make sure you have or Myron has 130% science skill. Use the robot to get virus vial and contaminate whole base, then get the best brain for robot companion. Return to Wright and say that he won't get his weapons. Leave him alive.
Mordinos: Refer to Big Jesus as Senor Mordino at all times. Get the quest to assassinate Salvadore.
Salvadores: Refer to Louis Salvadore as Mr. Salvadore, be nice to Mason. Get the quest with desert transaction. If you were respectful towards them then Salvadore will give you laser pistol and Mason will teach you how to use it. Go peep the place out and return for your rewards (if you have high charisma and *maybe*, bacause I'm not sure, if you were respectful towards them, these rewards will be better). Go check up on Miss Kitty and Elridge because afterwards you won't have Made Man title. Now steal the gas tank from Salvadore for xp then exterminate whole casino on your way out.
Mordinos: Return to Big Jesus Mordino and remain respectful towards him. Politely decline membership and he will let you go without a fight. Use Jet on him on your way out. If you want Lil' Jesus Combat Knife then you have to kill them all or use Superstims or place bunch of C4 in his pockets while going to world map.

That's how I roll. That's how you milk all those scum from their money and experience and how you get probably the best ending for the place.

And no. There is no warning. If you start fight in Arroyo then it is game over otherwise you can kill anyone and still beat the game.

I know this would have made my life 1000000000 times easier but I resisted doing it since it's my 1st playthrough. Besides, so far the combat wasn't hard at all.

typical user I am doing something similar. Getting all the quests from every family and milking them for rewards and xp. I was just asking about families since NPC's don't offer that much background about them (or maybe they do and I've missed something) and I wanted to get an overall impression of each. I should be going to NCR now but I skipped forgot about Broken Hills so maybe that's my next stop. Marcus seems p. cool. At least he was in F:NV.

You get to know most about them from their actual quest lines. In general:
Mordinos: Creators and main pushers of jet. Also slavers. Generally evil fucks that deserve to die
Salvatores: Lots of energy weapons.
Gets them from the Enclave.
Bishops: Clearly underhanded but trying to go "legit", end the mob rule and cut a deal with NCR/Vault City. Has a little hand in everything.
Canon says you fucked Bishops wife or daughter and your child goes on to unite New Reno
Wrights: "Good guys". Deals in alcohol and other soft stuff. Also weak.

I remember that shithead Myron getting gang stabbed in the face by a bunch of hookers and jet junkies. Fun times.

umad he fucked all your whores?

I find it interesting that intentional or not, New Reno bosses deaths reflect their own actions.

Salvatore have poisoned Wright Jr. - you poison him in return.
Mordino has made Jet - you kill him with Jet.
Wright wants weapons - killed by a gun incident.
Bishop tells you to kill Westin for him with an "accident". You stage "accident" to kill Bishop for Westin.
