End of an era indeed. It feels very strange to imagine Bioware without a BSN.

Somebody needs to post a link to this subforum in their "Bioware 3rd party forums?" thread. I'd do it myself, but I don't have a BSN account

Oh, and the Watch is absolutely heartbroken:

This, if not some bizarre joke, is insanely stupid. BSN, is the weirdest but also most enjoyable forum, out of all "official" ones out there.
People typically hang out there for the LOL's and the trolls, it really is one of a kind place.
Great job on pissing off player community even further, EA.

RIP Bioware, another nail in your coffin

Unbloodybelievable.

With so many great things so widely available, our developers today find themselves spending more time on other sites, and less time in our own forums. And to our fans and players who came to those boards looking to talk to us, it was a great disservice.

Yes, fans never understood why are they ego tripping on social networks instead of showing face on the official forum.
This is the answer?

I wish I noticed this first so I can add it in bullshit of the week thread.

This is what I get for leaving the JRPG forums for 5 minutes.

Welp, time to go pour Lye directly into my eyeballs.

Does that last one come in adult sizes?
Nope, largest size is 18 months old. For adults it got only T-shirts, which is confusing, given the Bio audience. Although it also got this:

Well, after they got rid of Hepler and Gaider, shutting down BSN was the next logical step. I'm surprised it took them so long.

End of an era indeed.
The era ended with Gaider's departure. Now they're just throwing away leftover relics. EA may not know squat about making good video games but they still can count money. And money count says that LGBT content doesn't sell that well unless it's X-rated, and if it's X-rated you can't legally sell it to kids plus you get all kinds of other issues like your brand being associated with porn. Five years ago it was already an obvious dead end but EA is slow to react.

I guess that ME4 is going to be quite different which makes the BSN community a toxic asset. So what we see here is pre-emptive damage control.

Yeah, I kinda agree, but it still somewhat strange if they just want to rid themselves from the insane "Tali is my space girlfriend, her sweat is sweet" biodrones. Because now the containment wall has been breached, and if ME4 will not have homoerotic and otherwise wank material, they gonna shit all over the place.
I think that they are waiting for Andromeda's release and then they will either close or at least rid themselves of all their leftover personnel from olden Bio and rebrand.

This tattoo reminds me of the guy I met that said that he wanted a "N7" tattoo on his arm, matching the suit's logo.

He said he had to take care of some business abroad first, then he'd come back and get the tattoo.

Unfortunately his "business" turned out to be drug smuggling. I last heard of him rotting in a prison in South America.

As for Bioware closing their forums - "nothing of value was lost".

What a drag, there were a lot of informative posts from developers there. I no longer care enough to back them up myself. :M

Calculated losses. They've sent a p. clear message to the smarter ones - probably hoping that by ME4 release they'll have stopped caring. Time to move on, yadda, yadda. The dumb ones can't be helped, of course, so some eruption of Internet outrage is inevitable, yes. They'll probably dismiss it as insubstantial.

Priestly the hutt made a comment in the announcement thread:

https://forum.bioware.com/topic/574907-concerning-our-forums/?p=20412271

I heard the news that BioWare is closing the forums, so I dredged up my account to say a few things.

For those here who aren't ancient like me, my name is Chris Priestly (some used to call me "Evil Chris") and I worked at BioWare for over 12 years. Basically from the end of BG2 till the start of DA:I. I started at BioWare in the QA department and became a prolific poster on the old BioBoards helping people out on Neverwinter Nights, KotOR and Jade Empire. Remember, this was back when the only real way to dialog between studio and fans was message boards. There was no Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, etc. As DA:O and ME1 came closer, the CM at the time (Jay Watamaniuk who is still a writer at BioWare) asked me to join the Community team. Together, along with many staff posters, amazing volunteer moderators and excellent fans, we created a great community on the BioWare forums that ran for years. Not everything was always rosey and there were always bumps in the road when fans/customers would question BioWare decisions, but overall we had a great time. Sadly, DA2 and the endings of ME3 weren't enjoyed by everyone (I'm not bring this up more, you know what I'm talking about if you were here) and things turned much more negative than they had been in the past. Still BioWare and its fans worked to keep these forums going. It wasn't easy. There were people in the studio, some quite powerful, who wanted the forums closed. Yet, there were also those, like me, who wanted the boards to stay open and after much discussion, they remained. And BioWare continues strong with the excellent Dragon Age: Inquisition game restoring fan's faith in the series and the intriguing Mass Effect Andromeda on the horizon (more details on this ASAP BioWare please).

My time at BioWare ended, but I am pleased the forums remained and the community here continues to thrive and grow. I'll always be a huge BioWare fan myself, I loved DA:I and can't wait for Andromeda to come out, and I am sad that the forums will finally be closing. Yet, I have faith in Conal and the rest of BioWare to have a plan ready for what will come next. Remember, these forums were started because there was no other way to talk with fans. Now there are lots of ways and I know Conal and the teams will be talking full advantage of them in time. I know this won't stop fans from worrying because that is in our nature until we see proof, but that's my 2 cents on it.

One last thank you to all of the amazing fans and friends I made during my time at BioWare here on the forums. I was fortunate enough to travel the world for BioWare meeting people including some who met on the boards (more than a few couples who met on the boards only to fall in love and marry in real life) who told me of the strong friendships they have made via the forums over the years. I look forward to being a fan of BioWare in whatever comes next. And a thank you to BioWare for running these forums and they joy they brought me over the years. Cheers.

Yeah, well, this guy looks like he's got cancer or at least something to do with Lumbar puncture. Feel kinda bad for him if that's so. Still it's the shitty reason to get such an ugly tattoo.
At least I can still laugh at these guys\gals\trannies:

Digging through the Bioware forum to find the informative posts.

Now that'd be an epic fantasy novel about going to the center of the Earth. A real 2001 Space odyssey if I ever heard one.

Can you imagine what creating a shitty 2-dimensional bioware RPG character feels like when some poor sod brands themselves forever with it?

you must be some sort of dark clown god, toying with pathetic people
