RNG can definitely go in your favor too. These crazy one shot kills from random bolts for example :smug:

Suggested feature: Allow us to see where exactly the mission in contract hideout attacks will be. Little minimap or something to show us location/terrain. Way too many times I'm thrown into terrible situations because contract is vs 9000 archers in swamp/mountainous area, or in a hot-zone with hordes of direwolves and i'm only day 2 before hats/shields for my bros.

While I certainly understand purposely losing rep to game the system a bit, it seems kinda odd we can't see where we fight before we commit to a contract. If it's an intended feature, why not make it part of the bargaining screen? "Where exactly are we fighting?" "Does it matter? *sweats nervously* are you taking it or not?!" etc etc

All melee weapons are named and in the hands of newbie mercenaries. Also basically all characters have the power of The Flash.. and Traits are changed to favorable ones. Redesigning and playing the game this way is FUN. Vanilla is Stress Torture versus what I want coming home from work: Leisure fun activity. My MOD is just that.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
BB is not meant to be a Leisure fun activity, that's for sure.
My dudes just got their heads chopped off by some random roaming bandit scum. :mixedemotions:

Pain thy name is 4 goblin shamans, got a defend settlement from greenskins contract only to have two groups of 30 gobbos with shamans in both batches burning a building. Though about just letting it burn/abandoning contract. That fight was rough despite having my guys around level 30 with ridiculous defensive values but the whole insect swarm+net+roots spam meant was getting hit a lot. No one died thanks to lots and lots of nice armor but they almost worked their way through that 400+ armor legendary chest piece on one character.

This game favors AI when you retreat.
Sure. Fatigues reset and losses are permanent for both sides, but your men has to rest to recover from their injuries, but the enemy stacks don't. And they randomize all their gears again for the second battle.

well the player gets a retreat button and the AI doesn't. :smug:

That's why we fake retreats by only engaging when everyone is on the 'retreat zone'
First melee contact on turn 7 :smug:

I tried it last night. Cause I felt the odds are a bit iffy for 11 noob bros vs 7 raiders on higher ground with good armor and a few polearms.
To my surprise making a retreat to the edge of the battlefield did not make the brigands lose interest, they pursued and eventually split into teams of 2 here, 3, there, and 1 guy arrived earlier than the rest. One crossbow bolt, a pike to the face and he's dead. I finally could engage them without worrying of shield wall formations getting in the way. We lost no one and got a few good polearms from that battle.

rapsdjff Maybe you could take a look at my comment in the previous page? A pair of Kleinigkeiten that could be fixed!
I've read those, of course, but I'm afraid the time for things like that has passed. All that remains now is bugfixing and finalizing things for release. Happy to hear that you enjoy the game, though ;)

Also add that archers occasionally don't end their turns automatically, even with 0 AP. I think after reloading but not sure atm
It's been reported before, but I wasn't able to reproduce this myself yet. Please let me know if you learn anything more on this.

Yes, we'd like to do both Mac and Linux eventually. Unfortunately it's something we'll not be able to tackle until after the game has left Early Access.
Now as the game is close to release, do you happen to have any update on that?
(I mean eg. whether you still wish to do it or anything else like to share).
No change. We'll take a look after release, but I can't promise anything.

Man, had the most brutal caravan run.
Started with 12 men.
Finished with 9.
2 Caravan Hands and Donkey not even harmed once. The hands were so passive, at one point a guy with billhook was within range to attack him and he just fucking spearwalled.

Kill tally:
9x Thugs
3x Poachers
12x Raiders
6x Nachzerers

Divided over 4 encounters.
The pay: 610 gold pieces.
:negative:

Can't say that in early game.
I think Gold > Experience for early game.
A lump sum of cash to start trade route would be great. And then it's off to befriending an armorer town and slowly gear your team up.

I propose we give everyone in the Codex a couple of months after release and then kick-ban anyone who doesn't have the game in their Steam libraries after that timeframe

Is simply owning the game enough? Shouldn't we be asking for endgame crisis completion screens on expert ironman?

Well... in two months maybe... Because currently I'm not even remotely close to something like that :P

Thought it would be safe to sleep right next to an Undead compound, heal some wounds, before attacking the enemy. But they came at night:
- Wakey, wakey!

2 Necromancers 36 Undead... Time to flee! Save yourselves, boys!
4k6b7R4.jpg

Archer:
- Let's try to at least get the Necromancer on top of the Battlefield..
Then two Gheists reveal themselves.. Couple turns later another Gheist - 3rd - came out of the tall grass. Right.
- Come on boys! Next time in the future maybe..

rapsdjff feature request: When units swap weapons on the battlefield, make it so the weapons go back to their original slots at the end. That way I don't have to keep swapping to ranged in turn 1 because my archers have their pikes out.

Would you even spend a perk point on +1 AP that promises another AP at level 10?
