Welcome. Today I wanted to present to you one of biggest projects ever made for skyrim. The mod is called Orpheus. It'll be a mod set in the universe of the famous German game, Gothic. It'll be total conversion of the game so you'll be able to see a lot of famillar things from Gothic implemented into the mod. The story starts a couple of years after death of the main hero. You'll be able to visit famous location from Gothic 1 and 2. The storyline itself will be based on the fall of the Myrthana. Scattered towns of the kingdom are weakened after the civil war, but that's not the the most prevalent danger. Massive hordes of orcs have started roaming and pillaging lands of Nordmar. Your story begins when you're caught by orcs and forced to sail with them to the nearby islands of Khorinis, where you wait for execution. The game will run on skyrim engine with a couple of tweaks and fixes. We"ll do our best to recreate the dark climate of Gothic.

I would say Elex is about on the same level as Witcher 2 or Fallout New Vegas when strictly talking about the technical and mechanical aspects of combat design.
Witcher had better melee and New Vegas better shooting and more weapons I'd say.

You know everything is great for PC games with swords when rather than playing 2017 game I'd rather go again through Rune, Severance Blade of Darkness, Jedi Academy, or even some random shit like Heavy Metal Fuck U 2, that old random Conan game where when you die you fight in Valhallah, or a platformer with sticking knives in people like American Alice 1. I don't have a bar set very high really, just something as responsive (or at least complex, I will even take 1 of 2 and won't cry) as 10 to 20 years old action adventure would be nice. I don't ask for Dark Messiah of M&M and don't even try to name any asian game here.

I beat the bomb using a bug, you tell your companion to go back before triggering the cut scene, when it ends your companion is still there and attacks the bomb. Thanks pb.
Fighting is dumb in terms of action games, you land your hits and they deal no damage, just like in morrowind. But in action/rpg terms it makes sense. Too bad the game sucks at explaining it's mechanics to the player. You add points and pray the skills do what the description says.
Monster difficulty is also dumb, some creeps are stronger than named npcs and give less xp. Not to mention the pitiable drops if you don't invest in the hunter skill.
Gamespot's 4 is not far fetched, the game is a mess but it manages to still be fun and better than most games released this year.

Endgame spoilers, questions and comments

Like many have said endgame is weak. There isn't a lot of reactivity imo besides some faction turning on you at the end. Maybe they don't turn on you if you do the emotional ending and kill the Hybrid. I did the neutral? and cold ending. In cold ending Berserkers and Clerics turn on you of course and you have to murder them. In neutral the Outlaws turned on me even though I'm an Outlaw. In Cold ending, I noticed there were Alb troops outside of the Berserkers' base but there was nothing I could do to help them take over and they still attacked me on sight. Tarek still calls you a traitor even after making the Hybrid serve you.

Neutral seems like the best ending. I kind of hope they go with that for sequel. They might go with the destroy Hybrid ending though. Still I like the idea of the ending where mana is used to change the Hybrid so he can run interference for the aliens coming and also prepare the Free People to face the aliens. It seems heavily implied mana will be the weapon to use against them. However, they should probably be aware of mana since it appears to just be a polar opposite of natural elex. Maybe what happened on Magalan has never happened before with mana and the world hearts.

I would have preferred to have all the heads of the factions come together to meet the Hybrid after giving him mana and speak with him. Have all the factions come together to hear of the threat so they could prepare. Beginning research and experimentation into mana and elex looking for weapons to use to fight them and strengthen the people. Instead we just go and inform the leaders one by one and never tell them anything important.

It's still unclear why terraforming the planet is important or how the elex was suppose to change our world. It seemed what happened to the hybrid was an accident and for all the aliens knew the planet didn't have life or all life was destroyed by the comet. So if the Hybrid hadn't come about, how would the planet have changed on its own? This terraforming seems to be for the aliens and it doesn't matter what ending you get it's still going to take place.

Oh and the romance with Caja and Nasty is so cringeworthy. Jax sounds like a monotone, autistic nerd when talking, and Nasty is a wannabe edgy, try hard bitch. I couldn't believe she just comes out and ask you if you want to fuck after completing her quest. She must have been written by some 20s or 30s year old feminist with the mind of a 13 year old who thinks that a woman who cusses all the time and cusses you out all the time is strong, empowering and attractive.

They really aren't (quick example - Stormson quest part 1).

gee I wonder indeed why you dont get directions to the guy who has just been brought out into the forest to be shot in the head and disappeared :nocountryforshitposters:

I'm not sure who you're responding to or the exact context, but when it comes to everything involving Stormson, you do absolutely get precise directions - the game has, after all, quest compass to pretty much fucking everything. Under all circumstances involving the Stormson quest(s), you should absolutely should have a marker pointing straight at him, even when it makes no sense whatsoever.

i have no idea what bug have stormson.

i listen to him talking to npc
he chilled at the bar
named girl tell me he was “”””””exiled””””” and the escort is going to kill him
i followed the quest mark
berse patrol killed by clerics
he was inside the mine happy with clerics and he gifted me all his stuff.

he is not supposed to be at the valley of exile because the escort wanted to kill him not exile him.

I'm not sure what you think is a bug?
He was sent to be exiled, but the guards travelling with him was killed by clerics, and he was given a choice to die, run, or join. He chose to go with the Clerics, and he ended up at the Hort.

i'm starting to get the impression that some of you folks have got so used to modern popamoles with actual mandatory quest compasses that you will scream bloody murder the moment someone doesn't describe you the pixel perfect route regarding where and how you should proceed

Stormson, or rather, his marker, spawns inside center of volcano instead of cleric's base (and he won't be at base either). Without patch at least. Them vikings are tough, I even tried going there out of curiosity but died obviously. I had that quest not finished naturally.

No he isn't, he won't spawn there. It's was a known bug, probably was fixed with patching.

The dead clerics place, I just stumbled upon randomly I think. Game has a ratio of something like 40 quest compass/30 directions/30 "yeah I've been there and actually remember that place" (although for the most part, especially main quest, it's just compass)

So to the ending:
I was really frightened that it would turn into a Risen 1 crawler. But luckily that didn't happen.
One could argue that the converters would count as dungeons, but they were quite short and not really annoying.
What was great in my eyes:
There isn't a Sleeper Temple, there isn't Irdorath and there isn't the annoying volcano fortress.
Endgame is boring and dumb, but the best in a PB game to date.

Story was really cringeworthy, maybe a little above the level of R3.
(HAHAHA! I WILL STEAL YOUR WAIFU NOW!!!)
But at the same time i found it mildly interesting to find out about the traitors.
I got the max cold ending and i was sad that i didn't get the Alb armor for the end-game.
ELEX 2 seems to have aliens then? Sounds pretty standard, but ok.
The Dawkins shit is a bit like the Master in Fallout.

You really become OP at the end, so the game is much faster.
It took me 62 hours and i think i used at least 35 hours on all that stuff before joining a guild.
It's sad that item progression stops later suddenly.

But that's also a standard problem.

I did a bit of the discovering at the end, but that isn't satisfying if you can't find better stuff than you already have. (of course)
Like in every PB game the beginning is the real deal and once you join a guild the game is basically won.

Combat was fun for me throughout the whole game.
Melee combat system is nice, skill based and good. Would have to replay R1 to be sure what's the best PB melee combat system.
Ranged combat is a lot more boring, but that's the nature of the thing i guess.

I loved my Grenade Launcher and my Jetpack though.
It felt good to let death rain on these Alb bastards.

The quest compass is shit of course. You can't make 100% of the quests without it...
More like 70%. That should be fixed for ELEX 2.
It's not helpful when the dialogue talks about "somewhere in Xacor".

To date it's the PB game with the most RPG elements.
Even if you hate ELEX, you have to acknowledge that it's more an RPG than even G1 and G2.
Quite a bit of skill checks and C&C not just in side quests, but also a bit in the main quest.
That's a great improvement.
I really like the skill checks.

The world is a little to big in my opinion. There are lots of empty areas.
Makes the world more realistic - that's for sure.
But a size like in G1 and G2 would have been better.

So in my book it's clearly many steps ahead of Risen 1, which makes ELEX the third best PB game.
The order's now:
G2>G1>E1>R1>G3=R3>R2

Stormson gifted me his stuff, then I drew my axe and killed him. No quarter for traitors. I also killed the scientist, the bounty was too good to pass up. Certainly not my fault for being corrupted by power, Jax is a real jerk and I roleplay as an Alb to fit in the setting.

I would argue closing 6-8 oblivion gates/collectors & killing 6 copypasted enemy commanders with (you guessed it) quest compass markers MMO style somewhat counts. But yeah Ice Palace surprised the hell out of me with it's clear cut path to victory.

Yeah, but both was so short i didn't mind. You can close a converter in under 10 minutes.
The fights against the commanders were pretty fun because the flame throwers rape you.

on the back of a T34.
there is no problem navigating the world without a quest compass,i didnt use it and found my way around the game just fine.
all of the quest givers give you enough info about the whereabouts of the stuff they want,ie the suggestor that wants you to visit 4 cleric shrines clearly states that they are in a circle around the hort.

There were enough quests where they "updated the coordinates to your adjutor" without saying anything about the location.

That was one of the best and clearest quests in the game in terms of directions and goal placement. You will see most shrines anyway when traveling to Hort (especially if you use mod to turn off fog in the game) so I didn't even open my map during that quest.

It's somewhat of an anomaly as NPC had multiple voiced lines about how you have to go north and then east etc. I even got feeling they were deliberately trying to copy Morrowind's pilgrimage quest, and that this quest was designed before they decided to add compass to the game and they had different idea about quests before it.

There were enough quests where they "updated the coordinates to your adjutor" without saying anything about the location.
My least favorite part was getting cockblocked by act structure a-la "get thingy for spaceshep", "wait we can't repair it now... now get another thingy for spaceshep!" "wait wait wait...... now go back to the same place you got thing for spaceshep to activate random memory trigger to advance plot"
But waifu stealing was most cringy of course.

And reporting to NPCs repeated 4 times ehhhh

I've finished it and seen it all. RPGGOTY (Roleplaying Game Game of the Year) material IMO.
Well what other contesters are there? DOS2? Elex wins already probably because it doesn't have godfuckinganimedamn Malady in it. And because it does something with it's open world even if it only happens in Act 1&2 (the Abessa conflict) and then world remains static.
