They replaced the original with this new edition, right? I can't find the old one in my library anymore.

It functions like a very big patch. When launching the game you can choose if you want to boot up Classic or Enhanced, so both versions coexist (probably explains some of the file size).
So yes, they are one Steam library entry with one Steam ID. Achievements and playtime are also shared, for example. Saves aren't compatible, so they left the Classic option if you want to continue your safe game.

Why not make it a new Steam app like with the D:OS EE?

Maybe they figure this way more people who own the game will notice it and play? But on the other hand fewer new buyers would notice it because it doesn't show up as a new game on Steam. That seems like it would be more important, but I dunno.

Vincke did it so that I wouldn't be able to play it after already giving him my money.

I apologise for the stupid question, but the definitive edition is not a seperate entry on Steam , like the DOS1, right? Because I checked my library to install and was expecting to see a seperate entry. Thought there may have been some error

It's been almost a year and a definitive edition came out, why is initiative not fixed? At least fix initiative, I mean, what is happening? Why are they happy with their implementation of initiative? I am incapabable of understanding it.

To "fix" initiative it would first have to be broken. Larian doesn't consider it such.

Another recap of the history of Larian:

Leading up to the release of Divinity Original Sin 2: Definitive Edition, we visited Larian Studios to speak to CEO and designer Swen Vincke about the rough start the series had, their brushes with bankruptcy, and the risks the studio had to take to release Divinity Original Sin.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Apparently if you wanna play the Definitive Edition only, then you can save up some HDD space by deleting classic version (/Classic in main folder) which takes 32gb.

EDIT: actually it's the /Data folder, my bad :D

Should have put an option that allow user to download which edition they want, a simple checkbox in DLC tab like recent COD games can do the trick.

Oh fuck me, they tied crit chance and initiative to the same attribute? Initiative is obviously worthless but- I mean- I um- like... crit chance is important, right?

For Scoundrel and Huntsman builds, yes. Otherwise it's generally better to just boost your primary stat for raw damage. And note that spellcasters can't even crit without the Savage Sortilege talent.

Just bought Codex's 2017 GOTY. You cock suckers best not have steered me wrong.

It is mediocre. Of course the video game world hyped it to oblivion because 2017 was one of the shittiest years since the 70s in terms of releases. In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king and all that. Especially for codexers who are thirsty for anything even remotely good to play.

I personally don't like the Divinity games. I get the feeling that most people who hype them up haven't really completed them and/or don't have extensive RPG experience so they can compare them to past greats. They are not "bad" games, they are just not really that good. They have nice graphics, sound, voice acting, the combat system is nice, but they have many shortcomings and commit the worse attrocity of any video game: They don't respect the player's time. You could easily condense these games to 1/3 of the playtime with minor tweaks and alterations, but then most clowns would cry "where is muh content?" and an RPG without "100s of hours of playtime" on the back of the box is not sellable. So the rest of us get to experience the fucking slog if we want to complete these things... No surprise most people quite before act 1...
