Wasn't there Sierra released stat showing that the LSL series had an incredible number of female players compared to their other licenses or other games from that era ?

And the question remains, how well does Larry actually fit into this modern society that he wants to satirise. Should not we be a little further than chasing women for the high score?

This conflict should be part of the game, the developers promise: Larry is to experience some surprises when his image of women from the eighties bounces on strong and modern ladies

What these people imagine 2018 women to be:

What they actually are:

If they made a Leisure Suit Lara featuring the same kind of character it would be seen as "empowering" and "sex positive".

Leisure Suit Larry was always like a slightly lewd Dad joke. It was never a full on sex/porn game... and I think people on both sides of the aisle don't know this. You'll have one group decrying it for being sexist and another decrying it because it's not enough about "fucking".

Personally, I'd be glad if Leisure Suit Larry stayed dead. I just don't think anyone could make it work now, not for a large audience anyway. The kind of people that would like to play a slightly dirty dad-joke of a game just don't buy computer games any more. From what I see in the screenshots here, this game looks to miss the mark by a lot, tonally. I wish this team luck, because making a Leisure Suit Larry game now is like jumping in an empty pool filled with rabid badgers. It's going to be rough. Who knows... maybe they end up making a good game. I don't have high hopes, but I wish them well.

Leisure Suit Larry, to me, was that ribald joke your uncle told in a hushed tone at the dinner table after a large holiday meal. We all snickered and said, "Oh, Uncle Al..." and then went about eating our dessert. The world now is full of crazy shit, and it reaches almost every level of society. It's like Jane's Addiciton said well over 20 years ago - Nothing's Shocking, and so LSL is really a relic of a different era in so many ways.

Al shit-talked the other games without his involvement before, don't think he'll really give a shit about people finding out he did a tamer version of that in an e-mail.

This is an idea. I do not know for certain if this idea is "marketable" or has a "built in audience".

Let's keep brainstorming it.

Will Laura be a female version of Larry? Perhaps Laura is a cougar? Milf? Or do we make Laura more like a younger ugly duckling virgin?

This literally exists in the series already.

Leisure Suit Larry III features a second playable character, the titular "Passionate Patti", over whom the player briefly assumes control.[1][2] Patti's portion of the game is much the same as Larry's, including multiple 'death' scenes[2] and a detailed character portrait of her love interest, a male stripper.[1] However, the Patti sequences are more reminiscent of traditional adventure games, requiring players to navigate through a maze, as well as collect items for use in later puzzles.[1]

Leisure Suit Larry 5 expands on the multi-character feature of the previous installment, with control periodically passing between Larry and Patti.[1]

Yes, and for many women of that generation it is the only game series they really enjoyed. Which is why attacking LSL for 'sexism' is a good way to spot a hormonally disturbed SJW. It was while reading some IGN or GameSpot article on that theme back in the early 2000s that I first realized that when it comes to 'gaming journalists', and effeminate internet people in general, their brain just functions in a way that is completely alien to normal people. No person with a functional biochemistry, whether male or female, would ever react to LSL with disgust at its 'vile sexism'.

Passed over on that contract too, eh?

No, never even got asked about it. I had no idea this was in production until I found out when everyone else did.

I wouldn't do a Leisure Suit Larry, given the opportunity. The baggage is too much, and I really don't have the stomach to deal with that kind of shit anymore. I'm happy to make the little games I do now. Five years ago, I might have been foolish enough to say yes if presented with an opportunity. Time'll change ya right quick.

ahead of beautiful desolation and poisoned pawn and strangeland? sasuga adventuregamers

dave makes much more of an effort to stay in touch and update fans than those other two projects, it's not suprising there is more buzz over his game

Candidly, I'm mostly surprised that Strangeland made the list at all, given that the extent of our publicity efforts have been a single post, a single video, and a couple tweets. Maybe the genre really is dead.

Release date is November 7.

Send the developer a picture of yourself dressed as Larry and you could win a free copy of the game.

Have you done any research into who is buying videogames nowadays?

It really shows when people didn't play any of Larry games and talk about those games.

Larry is about following manlet that will do absolutely everything to score with girl.
You are supposed to laugh about his adventures and more times than not everything backfires to him creating those funny situations.

Larry games were just pure FUN.
