Unlike other city builders it's about transforming a virtually modeled real city, in this case, Paris: https://focus-home.com/en/news/1795...rtner-for-the-release-of-the-architect:-paris

FOCUS HOME INTERACTIVE AND ENODO GAMES PARTNER FOR THE RELEASE OF THE ARCHITECT: PARIS

id-88.jpg

Focus Home Interactive and Enodo Games are happy to announce their partnership for development of The Architect: Paris on PC. Offering a unique take on the City Builder genre, the game will ask players to become the Architect of the entire city of Paris. This doesn’t simply mean building a city from an assets catalogue –players will imagine, design, and create original buildings that they must manage individually. The Architect: Paris challenges players to carry out their vision of how the City of Light is developed, while responding to modern challenges such as design, demographics, politics, and pollution.

Jean-Baptiste Reynes, President and Creative Director of Enodo Games: “The Architect: Paris is an out of the box, innovative game that aims to shake the foundations of the genre. We are convinced that Focus Home Interactive is the ideal publisher to help us develop and promote our game. We look forward to working with their teams and benefitting from their long-time experience and expertise”.

Luc Heninger, Production Director of Focus Home Interactive: “We are delighted to partner with Enodo Games. With The Architect: Paris, they’re bringing a title that fits perfectly with the Focus Home Interactive catalog, as it goes far beyond the classical borders of its genre. We are always happy to work with ambitious partners developing innovative and fun concepts, and that’s exactly what Enodo Games is doing here.”

This studio Enodo Games is a subsidiary of French city simulation/visualization company. Apparently it's been in development for several years.

Here's a video from 2016:

DISTRICTS & VIEWS
The city of Paris that you will play in is divided into Districts. Each District functions as an independent area and challenges you with a specific mission.

Depending on your level of expertise - and those of your team, you will be allowed to work on certain Districts. To open new Districts, you will have to accomplish the missions entrusted to you and develop your team at the same time.

A District where the main mission has been accomplished is known as “closed”. Though you’ll still have to manage it, you will have access to a new set of Districts.

THE ARCHITECT: Paris will offer an innovative use of zooms and scales. No less than 9 different views of the model will be available, each bringing a different set of possible actions.

From "City" to "District" to "Block" to "Building" to "Floor": 5 levels of details (Scales) are available in the game, each in “strategic”, “model” and/or “tactical” view.

For the first time, a City Builder gives you the opportunity to develop your city as an architect, a city-planner, an engineer and a city manager.

WORKSHOP
Players will begin as the head of a small team of experts who will accompany you throughout the game. This team will be managed through the Workshop.

Each member of your team’s knowledge and abilities are suited for specific tasks. Architects, city-planners, engineers, construction experts... all the expertise you need to modify the city of Paris. As you go further into the game, you will be able to hire new skills, new knowledgeable experts or develop the ones you already have on your team. These skills are essential: They will allow you to define the direction in which you want to develop your version of Paris and allow you to unlock Districts.

Through the Workshop, you will also be able to share your best achievements and creations with The Architect: Paris community.

DRAWING BOARD
THE ARCHITECT: Paris will offer an open platform in which you will be able to develop your city the way you want. You have complete power over what you build in the Drawing Board.

As players, we have too often been frustrated with the inability to precisely decide what we want to build in other City Builders. We needed to find a tool that would allow us to create the building we really wanted. A tool that we knew we could build thanks to the knowledge our parent company, Enodo. The Architect: Paris allows you to imagine, conceive and create buildings of your very own design with the Drawing Board.

PPP INDEX
The PPP Index (People, Planet, Profit) measures each and every asset in The Architect: Paris.

Defined by John Elkington in 1994, and also known as the “Triple Bottom Line”, the PPP index evaluates social, environmental and financial performances of all actions of develoment. In The Architect: Paris, each entity has its own PPP index, from buildings to blocks, to Districts and Modules. Each of your actions can thus be measured and evaluated in real time.

It really sounds like architects trying to make a game than game developers making an architect game.

edit: Also, will this be Focus Home's redemption to the infamous release of Cities XXL?

:necro:

This is coming to Early Access without Focus Home Interactive.

The Architect: Paris (TA:P) is a construction game.
Turn the capital of France into a medieval looking city or a futuristic one, build a business district surrounded by parks, create gigantic plazas worthy of the greatest soviet cities, imagine neighborhoods where historical architecture blends in with the most modern designs…

Draw your own buildings with an accuracy never seen before. The powerful brick-to-building system developed by Enodo Games will give you complete control over your projects.

Destroy. Draw. Build. And then, start over as many times as you wish.

Lastly, admire your work, choosing weather and lighting conditions that highlight your new city. Share your creations with players around the world through videos and pictures.

City View
First and foremost, enjoy the view!
Each street, building, monument that makes this city what it is will be replicated in great detail. This living environment will be the backdrop for your creations.
Change the time of day and weather conditions to visualize all your projects.

Strategic map
Which district will you choose as the stepping stone for your architectural journey? Which district will you erase from the map to make way for a massive park? What will be your next playground?
The Strategic map is where you will find answers to these questions. It is where you will gather information regarding Main Projects as well as Landmarks of each district.

Drawing Board.
The true heart of the game, where you will spend most your game time.
Pick a Design, apply it to a plot, customize the height of the building and the punctuation of the facade, change the roof shape, the materials, modify the lighting conditions in real time to make sure you are happy with your projec and confirm your choices to finally see it in the City View.

Plot Editor
Let’s take it up a notch.
When using existing plots that Paris provides is no longer enough for you, when you want to completely and profoundly redesign and reshape each district, you might just find what you need in the Plot Editor.
You will be able to erase or merge existing plots of a block, even redesign them entirely if you so wish. Powerful but easy to use, the Plot Editor will let your imagination roam free and give life to your wildest fantasies.
