The movement speed in areas is fine, but I wouldn't mind if it could speed up on the overland map, especially when travelling long distances.

I think it's a bigger issue that the game pauses when I open up the character or inventory screen. There's no reason for that. I traditionally check gear and take a look at my stats while moving around, but because the game pauses when I open things up, I feel like I'm forced to do that when standing still, which is more annoying than I care to admit.

BG1 did it the best, by being the other way around; you open up your inventory, the game will unpause, because what you're doing is implied to take time and you should not have the benefit of rearranging everything during combat.

Well, it would be just as annoying to keep getting random encounters while focusing on that.

I meant while on area maps, primarily, though. The idea of checking my stuff while traveling on the overland map never even occurred to me, since there is likely to be a major interruption fairly soon, one way or another. I think it makes perfect sense that the game pauses when checking your stuff while on the overland map, due to the level of abstraction that is assumed. It's like player's switching gear during downtime, there's nothing weird to it and no DM would track it.

Ah, then I wholly agree. Game could pause if you get a successful perception check or initiate combat, but otherwise let you advance.

There are autopause settings for that, so yes, absolutely.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Anybody actually finished the game?
Apparently, someone did finished it:
Some madman on steam forums made it to the end:

given the state of the patches, i gave up on this. there's something terribly wrong in downloading the whole game again worth of patches and all they do is add new, horrible, gamebreaking bugs. damn ruskies, drop the vodka.

Aside from that one stacking bug it seems like good progress is being made with each patch.

The funny thing is that if we go by the technical/classic definitions of Alpha/Beta/etc., the released game would probably be classified as an alpha, because (as far as I understand it), Alpha refers to software that is not 'feature-complete', as in new features could still be added (or removed), whereas in a beta stage, nothing else will be added, things will simply be made to work, polished, etc.

There are definitely features that will be added to the game that are currently not there at all (capital development/updates, for example) while there are also vestigial content that has been cut from the feature list but not yet removed (slings, etc).

Even under the broadest of interpretation, the game is genuinely beta at best.

I'm not even saying this to shit on Owldog, just as a parenthesis on how fucked the game is.

Yeah, the code-monkeys must be stuck in crunch hell, sustained by nothing but vodka energy drinks, proletarian pride, and an undying love for Stalin the motherland.

Like a filthy crackwhore junkie who will suck a syphilis infected cock with a smile for her next high; i cannot help but submerge myself in this bug ridden rtwp mess to reroll and play chapter 1 again for my d20 murderhobo fix.

Patch 1.07:
new patch, new reroll. started a schizo neutral druid. Options range from lawful good to chaotic evil as long as more stuff can be killed. still true neutral

Greater magic fang is bugged btw. lv5 druid casts on his beastie and no effect (on attack/damage rolls, active effects, char sheet). does it need some material component? will test when druid gets to level 10 and see.

"Good progress" doesn't fit "we don't even load the game after patch so here is your sound" in my opinion.
I feel they are red like a cancer and some overseer cracks his whip over their heads constantly.

I have found this also, pretty annoying. Monstrous growth works however.

I too am restarting the game. Again. Looking at the specialist wizard, which school is any good? Some don't even have spells on all levels.

Huh, asked one of the artisans to make me plate armour, assuming it would be garbage. It was not garbage, it was instead very, very good.

It is not completely bugged, check combat logs. It is just not shown on animal companion character screen.

What is bugged is casting it on yourself before changing shape, it does not transfer to your new shape. Also if you change to air elemental and go to sleep, duration of the shape change ends but you still look like air elemental (but you lose the bonuses).

If you are restarting the game why are you restarting now instead of waiting for until a few more hotfixes and/or "the patch?"
Can't speak for others, but for me it's because I like the game very much and wish to play it now. Not on friday, next week or next month. Besides, chapter 1 is surely mostly fixed by now, and by the time I finish it this promised big patch (and a hotfix or two for the patch) might be out to fix the next one as well.

Hey, hey, linux version 1.07 just showed up on GOG. And it's 6 gb smaller than the last one. Did they remember to compress files this time? Or have they just fucked up the installer? Only one way to know.

The last one contained all the audio in the game, because the one before THAT broke the sound.

Every single one before this one was bigger though, all the way from 1.0. Now it's suddenly way smaller. That does not inspire me with confidence for this version.

edit: Just to make things clear, I'm talking about complete game, not patches.
