Blake's 7 Universe

Band of rebels against the Evil Earth Federation led by Servalan and aided by henchman such as the war criminal Travis
98907ebd15935423d1714624b5411bcb.jpg

who control through various means such as drugging the population, implanting control limiters and false propaganda such as the show trial implicating the resistance leader Blake as a paedophile ! in an attempt to destroy his image as a potential martyr and when it suits outright exterminatus of a planet population.

The original crew even read like an rpg party. They had great skills but weaknesses as well such as Vila being lazy and cowardly or Avons selfishness and machinations to become leader.

Blake/Leader Soldier
blake-01.jpg

Avon/Computer Genius
Jenna/Rogue Pilot
Vila/Master Thief capable of opening any lock
Gan/Tank/Melee Specialist
Cally/Telepath

Later members like Soolin/Gunslinger

They also had access to various computers like Zen,Slave and the super computer/mind of Orac which while powerful often had motivations of their own and endangered the crew.

The universe itself is full of simulants, bandits, pettywarlords,Robots, strange civilisations, and scientists, genetic creations and the ever present Federation.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Fuck, historically most epics, including the 'epic' ones, had nothing to do with saving the world.
Ah yes, back when epic meant long-ass-doorstopper, not a work of majestic scope.
Works of majestic scope (hence distinction between epic and 'epic' in my post) also rarely dealt with saving the world.
Everything being "blahblah save the WORLD!!!1 EPIC!!!111!!oneone" is a modern invention due to writers being fucking hacks who cannot into interesting stories, settings and characters.

Yep.

Gilgamesh: slightly tyrannical king meets steppe barbarian, they become best buddies and do shit together, steppe barbarian is killed, king has existential crisis and wants to become immortal because death is scary, searches for immortality, finds something that makes him immortal but loses it before he can eat it, realizes that death is inevitable and arranges himself with that fact.
Iliad: Greeks are pissed because Trojans stole a woman, attack Troy, massive battles happen, heroes act both heroically and unheroically (Achilles being a dick for example), Greeks realize they can't win by force, siege is won by trickery in the end, nobody truly wins in the end because both sides suffered massive losses.
Odyssey: smart bro who came up with the plan that conquered Troy sails home, gets lost at sea, has many adventures braving the dangers of the sea, finally comes back home to his wife who's being courted by a bunch of dickheads, deals with the dickheads and reunites with wife.
Argonauts: bro with a ship wants to get the legendary golden fleece, collects a bunch of bros to get it, sails there and gets it.
Nibelungs: medieval Germany is a place where lots of war and betrayal happens, lots of different factions, brotagonist kills a dragon and is almost invincible, gets killed by a backstabbing traitor anyway, everyone's a scheming bastard and in the end no-one really wins.

None of the classic epics are about saving the world. They're either about heroes going on a journey for personal reasons, or about wars and conflicts with several factions, most of which are ambiguous instead of clear-cut good/bad.

And all of them would make for a much, much cooler RPG plot than the old and tired "save the world" shtick.

wizardry 6-8. I want to see a goofy setting where space science fiction yet belief and gods function like DnD again. Where a cyborg with a gun as effective as a paladin with divine favor.

Are the classic epics really even that long? I can't imagine they're as long as modern fantasy book series that go on for 6+ books with 400+ pages a piece.

One of the weirdest and most creative sci-fi Tv series ever made could easily make an off the wall RPG.

Well yeah, most series of significant length would come as epic in scale. If not in scope or quality.

I could go for some 2000AD stuff. Sláine, Judge Dredd, Luther Arkwright, or anything that sort of captures the aesthetics.

Then again, I doubt most game developers still in business would have the chops to pull it off, so forget I said anything.

Assume it's by the perfect Developer
A game with the ABC Warriors would be epic or Nemesis obviously playing as Torquemada purging the unclean and the deviant.

A dystopian setting like in V for Vendetta but with animal characters like in the graphic novel Maus. I always liked the whole Cats vs Mice thing.

I really like the Full Metal Alchemist universe. It has the instant gratification, mystery, and impossibility of magic, while being grounding in the wisdom of thought and method. The pre-digital society also makes its society more human, which is more compelling than futuristic science fiction.

Heres my idea for a wizardry 6-8 sequel. Wizardry 8 ends in the savant ending. The savant and the heroes from the previous game set the universe at war while becoming godlike in power and disappear from the universe. Your story takes place in a remote planet in the Universe. You are a student to your rattkin sensei who has a extraordinary past and imparts vague words of wisdom to you as you perform your daily chores for him. Your planet gets attacked by a evil psion felpurr empress and you get taken prisoner and your masters fate is unknown. This is the where you create your party that consist of fellow enslaved foot soldiers. Your party gets sent on space cruiser battles assisting the felpurr samurai elite board and take over other cruisers and your party makes a name for itself. End of prologue.

Your party gets sent to a suicide mission in certain important region in space what multiple powers are interested in what ends with mass death with few survivors. The evil felpurr queen mind controlling meows lose their powers over your party and for the first time you guys have a will of your own. Your goal for now is to survive the felpurr queen still pursues you appearing in your dreams whispering loyalty and obedience while trying to find out why her powers are failing on your team.
