i don't understand how 2018 devs can't make sprites as good looking as the ones from a fucking SNES game. why do these graphics look worse than LTTP???????

Are you on crack? LttP is one of my favourite games ever, but it looks like ass. Half the terrain is literally just a monotone. It uses a shitton of tiled graphics and they aren't even very good ones. At least compare it to a nice looking game like Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger.

Which "Zelda" is this most "like?

The video presented in the trailer reminds me most of Super Nintendo games and Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past.

Has the game been designed with 4:3 resolution in mind?

Native controller support?

Hazelnut Bastille, for PC, Mac, and Linux, and now Nintendo Switch, is a lush, topdown Zelda-like Metroidvania in a 16bit JRPG style, which seeks to continue the great lineage of superior design from the mid 90's. Hazelnut has been in development since April 2016, and we will continue bring updates and content to our homepage and Twitter as things continue to progress!

In regards to the voice-over in the trailer:

Would you mind going into depth about your criticism for future takes?

For instance, do you take issue with:
-The writing
-The pacing
-Context
-Alignment to the rhythm and measures of the track
-The texture of the speaker's voice
- The emotional tone and delivery
-The fit between the speaker's tone and the game material
-the level of context we have for the speaker
-the kinds of information conveyed to the listener

Please be specific, because the information is useful.

Looks kewl. Art direction looks very on point. Voiceover narration is indeed awful. Main problems are that:
1) The voiceover is super breathy and sounds like the VA has aspirations of someday working in the magical wonderland industry that was 90s pornography
2) Text is the most poorly written and generic/banal fantasy gobbledygook one can imagine. "The ancients doomed this land to its watery fate, but you... you make your own fate!" Gag me with a wooden spoon. Protip: If you have no sense of diction, rhythm, or prose, avoid using the same word (especially an overused one like "fate") in successive sentences.
3) The above facepalms are coupled to Gameboy-era Mario sound-effects. Super jarring, discombobulating, and (I assume?) unintentionally hilarious.

That said, gameplay >all. Best of luck and hope it turns out to not be a massive shitshow.

They're going to release a prequel with NES aesthetics first. It's meant to be a full game using the same engine, mechanisms, items and enemies but its own locations.
