I don't know if you're twelve or something but they've done that many times before to a lot of developers, you don't need to dream, it's inevitable. And just in case you didn't notice, they took DICE behind the barn and shot them many years ago. They've been dead to me for a long time.

It's customary for Battlefield's campaigns to magnify the myriad flaws of CoD campaigns.
Now that CoD doesn't even have a campaign I shudder to think how bad it'll be.

Are DICE trolling EA at this point or how should we explain this?

Battlefield 5 gets its battle royale mode March 2019
Armistice.

Battlefield 5 gets its battle royale mode March 2019, DICE has announced.

In a post on EA's website, DICE said Firestorm, Battlefield 5's battle royale mode, kicks off as part of new content coming to the game during spring 2019 - four months after the World War 2 shooter launches proper.

Firestorm, which is developed in part by UK studio Criterion, includes a shrinking battlefield, vehicles and destruction.

DICE outlined its planned post-launch roadmap today, signalling the new content coming to Battlefield 5 as part of its live service, dubbed Tides of War.

Tides of War kicks off around two weeks after Battlefield 5 comes out in November with the Panzerstorm map, and single-player mission The Last Tiger (the one that lets you play from the German perspective).

At some point between early December and January, DICE will add the initial iteration of Practice Range to Battlefield 5.

"A seat of learning or just messing around, this area will contain trials to work on your shooting, driving, and flying," DICE explained.

"Based on the Hamada map, this is an environment that can't kill you - until someone finds the Friendly Fire button, that is."

Vehicle customisation, which includes items such as tank skins, begins during this period.

Then, at some point during the period January to March, Battlefield 5 gets co-op Combined Arms and two game modes: a revamped Rush and Squad Conquest.

Then, starting in March, Battlefield 5 gets the aforementioned Firestorm and the Greece map.

Game is gonna be a bigger flop which will be disappointing to EA because BF1 sold so well. Coming out after COD BO4, RDR2, & Fortnite while delaying the Battle royale to March next year even though COD & Fortnite has it this year and RDR2 will likely have it this year will harm their sales and player numbers.

DICE Is Looking for Interns to Study Toxic Behavior in Battlefield
Battlefield V, DICE has posted an internship for graduate students that involves them studying and looking for ways to combat toxicity. The person would help them look into the way people behave when playing the studio’s games.

The DICE job listing reads as follows:

We want everyone to have fun playing Battlefield and participating in its community. Occasionally some players will behave… less than great though. This projects aim is to give engineers and producers a deeper insight into our players behavior on the Battlefield to help deliver a better experience for everyone.

Investigations include:

  • What type of disruptive behavior do we see in Battlefield today?
  • What drives or triggers people to disrupt other players games?
  • How can we prevent disruptive behavior in our titles and community?
  • What are some experiments we could conduct to measure benefits of punishing bad or rewarding good behavior?
This Master Thesis is an unpaid internship for graduate students in DICE’s Stockholm, Sweden office. If you’re interested in applying, here are the additional stipulations:

The Master Thesis needs to be associated with a Swedish University education or any other type of education that has a Master Thesis or internship period planned into the curriculum, in an area of study in human behavior such as psychology, medicine etc.

The next entry in this franchise, Battlefield V, isn’t even out yet. Even so, it has already brought out some “less than great” behavior in players regarding the addition of women in the game.

DICE’s stance on that issue, alongside this internship posting, bodes well for positive community building. Perhaps we’ll see some better behavior from players when Battlefield V launches on November 20, 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. As a reminder, the launch is only the beginning, as Battlefield V will have plenty of free DLC over the next few months.

Lol, kids these days and their use of words, finding problems where there really aren't any. It's the real world.

"Toxicity", "trigger", "disruptive", "women". It's a fucking video game. Jesus Christ what a generation of retards we're stuck with. Who's going to take care of all of us old people in twenty years? Certainly not this lot.

So, the game is out and it turns out that unlike in BF1 it's impossible to play as a black German!

Only the Allies have access to dark skinned characters. This is a huge balance issue as the Allies will easily be able to get dark, hard to see soldiers, while the Axis must either grind or pay real money to unlock war paint to cover up their lily-white faces!

This is an injustice to all those black German soldiers fighting in Europe. DICE should have just opened their coding and game engine borders and let them all in. They are doctors and engineers

Wow, no women in the launch trailer all the way until the game's title image? What's up EA? Not so woke any more?

Been watching a stream of this game of the campaign multiplayer mode. It's pretty sad to know that all that effort was wasted on a shit game. Everything from the music to the graphics is really high quality. It's just so sad that the gameplay is so ridiculously twitch-shooter esque and it ruins the immersion by having female soldiers. I dream of a Red Orchestra 3 with these kind of production values. I remember heroically pushing up a hill with a PPSH and grenades against enemy rifles and tanks in Red Orchestra Ostfront, it could have been an unforgettable experience like that, but BF5 is nothing more than just a sterile, casual console game.
