phosphorus can a bullet hit multiple targets, like that penetration on gif would let one believe?

edit.
Got an answer via discord:

Yeah they do, each bullet has a penetration value and each object a resistance value. Bullets lose energy after each hit
edit2.

I think most games choose to have more "board-gamey" bullet hit system, I can understand why from a game design perspective, but we have chosen to have a little more simulationist approach on this

(That weapon drop wiggle is unacceptable, the release will be postponed by a year or two)

Can't believe it's only now that I come across this. It looks amazing! Far more excited to see what comes from this than any modern snuff game featuring the repeated rape of JA's corpse.

Isn't "Finnish lunatic" kind of tautological, though?
Nice to hear it!

Just popping in, and nice to see "Finnish lunatic" taking on this holy grail of games.

I wanted to remark that the presented indoor areas require very heavy computing with line of sight, deformation and ultimately AI. So I don't know if this is really thought through to the end.
Yeah I have been on this quest for a long time.

You are correct, the calculations can get pretty complex. In case you are interested, I will write few random technical details here:
  • The tile system in End State is based on 1m*1m*1m tiles (basically voxels, though we don't render them that way).
  • The large building in the above pictures technically has nine floors that each are 1 meter high.
  • Most buildings are made from 1 meter wide architectural pieces (positioned between tiles), for example 10 meter wall often is 10 separate pieces.
  • All architectural and other objects are destructable, only exception is the ground.
  • There is a structure integrity system, which calculates whether architectural pieces have enough support, if not they will collapse.
  • There are breaching charges and other explosives that you can use to take advantage of these systems.
  • There is a bullet penetration system, where each level object has a resistance value that is used to calculate if and how well each projectile will penetrate. High-powered rifle rounds often penetrate through multiple walls.
  • There is a fog-of-war system that illuminates all tiles seen by unit each time it moves or turns, this means calculating through a lot of tiles. It is a multithreaded operation and pretty fast.

This is crazy.

Only a Finn can be crazy enough to try to get this through.

:bro:

P.S. 1x1x1 tiles, eh? "floors that each are 1 meter high". "buildings are made from 1 meter wide architectural pieces" "10 meter wall often is 10 separate pieces"
Man, that's ingenious!!

All that time spent avoiding his fellow Finn has served him well.

One of the unique mechanics in End State is the reaction based interruption system. Units can enable Opportunity Fire, which triggers a reaction test when an enemy comes in to view. All participants in these situations can choose to attack which often leads to intense firefights.

I have also been recording the gameplay video, its a small mission from start to finish and should give pretty good overview of the mechanics as they currently exist

Hype and massive incline, how could I have missed this. I've been hoping for something resembling Jagged Alliance 2 for ages. This looks sweet as hell, no eta, I presume?

Well you did save yourself a couple of years of waiting. Not everyone has been so lucky. :troll:
Haven't you guys done a gamescom interview with JarlFrank and Bubbles? I've been waiting since:)

What I can tell you is that the game is set in a fictional wartorn eastern-european country, where your group is tasked to hunt down members of a terrorist network. The strategic map is realized as a "real-time satellite image" that you use to explore, investigate leads and plan missions.
You are right, there won't be sectors. There is movement along the roads to mission locations and encounters might happen on the way. It is real-time with pause kind of thing (PS. my favorite old school X-Com is Apocalypse).
Would be interested to hear more about enemies. Haven't grasped - is there also some AI at play on the strategy layer (eg. like in Apocalypse or other), or is this more like scripted campaign?

What is going to be out of combat gameplay?
Something like X-com? JA2? Something else?

A bit like X-Com and a bit like JA. But at this point it is very bare bones and time will tell what the end state of the "geoscape" will be.

You have a "base", you hire mercs from predetermined pool, there are supposed to be enemy patrols on the map, you have to locate enemy bases etc.

Make the Codex Great Again!
Holy shit this looks fucking amazing

Let me see if I got this right:
+ Actual frigging ballistics system
+ A unique interrupt system
+ Turn-based AP mechanics with more than 2 AP
+ Gun porn
+ Proper destructible environments
+ Non-prosperian graphics

:shredder::shredder::shredder::shredder::shredder:

Give us a proper geoscape/overland metagame, and I'll D1P x3 this bad boy (one copy for myself, two for my brothers).

It is possible to have multiple squads. Cant create own character yet

edit.
If there will be character creation no one should tell you-know-who so that thread won't be moved to you-know-where!

From trailer YT comments:
Just needs some gore (mainly wounds on the characters and solid spilling mechanics on the environment, big mutilation would be nice too though)

End State2 hours ago
I agree! We have worked on some wound effects (there is short video about those), but it is still not yet in the game. Dismemberment would be nice addition as well but we will have to see about when we have the time to work on those.

End State53 minutes ago
@Random Madness We do have blood decals on the environment and also blood splashes when hit, but no puddles for now

Please say no more. Too hyped now:?

With Spy DNA, Vigilantes, End State etc., it might as well start present day tactics renaissance.

Lol, that's what decides?:)
To confuse, we could call it setting up initial conditions of units.

Btw. multiple squads sounds good. How many guys in one? (from vid seems at least can be four)

Love that music from the trailer. Been listing to it on repeat. Reminds me of:

It's faster of course, but it gets me into that mercenary mood. I hope the rest of the OST is as good.

finns definitely aren't human, actually the result of some sort of grey abductee mating experiment, but if they deliver on this they're welcome to share the planet.
