Pathfinder Kingmaker
Insomnia: The Ark
Ghost of a Tale

Everything else comes second.
Wasn't Insomnia supposed to be a major letdown?

Play it.

Edit: What happened with the game after the release is indeed a major letdown however the game itself is Strong Incline.

Deadfire has many things to complain about and we complain about it constantly cos its Obsidian. If we break down KCD & Kingmaker as much as PoEs they'd come out far worse imo but its all about enjoyment and I remember I enjoyed Deadfire a lot for 2/3s of the game before it wrapped up so voted for it. Played P:K till act whatever/pitax but couldn't finish it, I still need to see how it wraps up/if there are consequences to choices we make about how we build the kingdom etc. KCD wasn't enjoyable through-out; broken combat, pre-defined dull protag... maybe its sequel could be goty whenever it comes but not it. Pretty shit year for RPGs tho maybe better than last year. Last year had what? Only Exp.:Viking?

Yup. If Deadfire was made by a russian indy company then the CODEX would proclaim it the second coming of CRPGs...

Interesting to see Pathfinder leading by so much, I take it all the bugs have been ironed out? I am holding off on the purchase until it is in a finished state.

Of the games on the list, I went for PoE2. Would have been Kingdom Come, but first person perspective just makes me dizzy these days.
pathfinder is the first good rpg in 20 years that can hope to get fixed by the dev instead of some fanmade patch.

Lurking II : A Madness gets my vote, thanks for adding it to the poll.
Oh man, I had completely forgotten about this game. Thanks for bringing it back up to my attention.
How much time did it take you to beat it? Wanna tackle it, but think I might hold until I'm in my summer break to jump into if it's a game that's best enjoyed in longer sessions.
It took me about 40 or 50 hours I guess, and yes due to the structure it's probably better to play it when you have some time.

Do you guys actually like Pathfinder or is it just winning because the competition is mediocre this year? Agree with this comment, in the first case, disagree in the latter.

Answer:

No one actually likes Kingmaker. They like the idea of Kingmaker. The concept of it.

You want me to believe that all these people who voted for Kingmaker have finished it? LOL.

I can't bring myself to vote because there's nothing in 2018 worth voting for.

What a crappy poll. If you are doing GOTY thread, do it properly. Nobody cares if you like jRPG or not, by missing Octopath / Dragon Quest XI / MHW, you are basically limiting whole poll to 3 games. Useless.
