Every time you compare this or other game to Fallout you are creating hype and misleading expectations.

What you are saying makes sense regarding a game such as Underrail, on the surface it looks like a Fallout game but once you dig down its very different due to systems and presentation of story/characters etc. It focuses on particular aspects of Fallout that may or may not appeal to some people.

ATOM on the other hand IS trying to be Fallout, to the point of literally copy pasting the character system and combat system of Fallout. ATOM is basically Fallout 1.5/Nevada in a 3D engine. It is the culmination of the Slavic fixation of recreating Fallout. So for better or worse it must be judged against the original Fallout.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
Keep repeating that this is the best thing since Fallout to express your precious fanboy feelings and watch while people trash it because it's a completely different game.

Just look at a lets play clip of it for few minutes.

It's exactly like Fallout. Main stats are a clone of S.P.E.C.I.A.L (with renamed charisma and perception). Skills work the same way. UI is virtually the same, with two active item slots and same kind of inventory. It has the same kind of overworld map, turn based combat and support for multiple ways to solve quests through skill checks.

Kinda missed this, and then I haven't been home, so I've been sitting on mobile devices all week and for a few days more, so I'm not up for catching up with the thread. I wont be able to get this for a while, but what's the verdict, then?

Is it good?

Seems like everyone actually playing it is enjoying it greatly, myself included. The diction and syntax in dialogues is a little off, with occasional typos, but the writing is interesting and good enough that it doesn't matter. The reason I bring that up is there is a lot to read. Not to say there isn't plenty of great exploration, progression, and combat to balance it out, though. Combat is basic, but I still find a great deal of challenge and fun in it, and success is greatly tied to how you develop your character as well as making certain you're equipping yourself well regularly. Progressing through the world itself is heavily influenced by your non-combat skills and attributes as well, with tons of meaningful dialogue options, thieving options, and general world interaction options at your disposal. Biggest issue that I and others seem to have with character progression right now is the use of a pretty bland ability tree rather than more exciting and impactful perks (or really any system to spice builds up a bit). Besides that, progression always seems very rewarding and impactful to me with every level up. Love the way some equipment affects you attributes and skills as well.

Another problem for me was the game has a pretty slow start with the first village you visit. Stick with it for an hour or two and it really starts to pick up momentum quickly.

I've been saying it's the best Fallout since Fallout 2, but I think that's selling it a little short. The game achieves something unique with it's entire atmosphere and setting that makes it more interesting for me to explore than F2. Not to mention that the writing is extremely strong at times. Game is super addictive too. Also - and this is a large plus particularly after this past year - the game is largely bug free, with a pretty excellent professional technical polish. Would have gladly paid $30-$40 for it.

Make the Codex Great Again! Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag. I helped put crap in Monomyth
ok where the fuck can I get another companion besides Fidel? I lost out on the doggo and it's starting to get really fucking annoying facing 8+ creatures (rats at circus, these things in the cavern beneath roaring forest) and coupled with lack of ammo and companion being a fucking idiot is making me rage.

I bought the game on Steam and i will buy it when it comes out on GoG just to support the developers. Been playing around cca 20ish hours and i got a few starting observations

- Combat could really use a COMBAT SPEED toggle, very quickly it starts to drag
- Consider changing the crafting method, this one is kinda meh once you learn the recipes (or read them from the web) - > Age of Decadence had a splendid crafting system for example which rewarded deep specialisation.
- Character creation is great, but some numbers stay red for some reason (for example, I took diplomat and lucky one, and most of my skills were still displayed in the red, even after completing char creation, also some of em keep glowing green)
- Traits at creation could use some overhaul (i.e. child prodigy – 50% less xp is kinda steep, maybe up the stat bonuses or lower the malus?)
- Perk progress method is kinda meh, also is it true you get less ability points on harder difficulties? If that is true I strongly advise against it -> leave all the tools to the player, but make the surroundings more challenging
- more info on stat screen (for example, current number of hp/max number, etc...)

That’s all I can come up at this point, im not bashing the game, tis awesome. Havent had this much fun in years and compared to Pathfinder the game is really smooth and i havent encountered many bugs (maybe the odd typo and such).

You can get a rifleman called Hexagon from the Red Fighter village to the east of the main city. You just have to wipe out the mutants.

Companion list and where to find them:
- Fidel outskirt of KP3, insta join
- Hexogen: learing Red Fighter (east of KP3, you can get the location from the other ATOM agent within KP3, but you need to get within the walls, in the hospital)
- Alexander: Red Fighter, you need to have met the 3 guys with wormskin, upgraded Red Fighter a bit, and have decent personality
- Dog: random encounter, simply save him, show him collar, have decent survival

Bad karma companion: A girl from death squad that you can meet within Peregon, in front of the inner gate, she shows up randomly, I suspect you need to activate the Death gang quest (inner KP3, 2nd building on left side).

Bought myself this as a christmas present. Any idea if theres much of a roadmap for patches?

I havent encountered any bugs, but I'd like to know if its worth holding off playing for a couple weeks/months (like with every other fucking RPG released over the last 4 years).

I waived those guys off, I didnt fall for that. Right now Im going to Kraszno to find that car dealer. But I guess I wont get a thing.

Is there a way to get another car, or only that grey one from Old Scrap Yard?

Yeah, ATOM RPG is basically a 1:1 clone of Fallout 1 if you ask me, and I just completed Fallout 1 a few weeks ago so it's fresh in my mind. The game is incredibly similar.

From what I've played so far it would seem ATOM is a considerably more punishing experience than Fallout or Fallout 2, and I'm playing on Normal mode. But it really feels like Fallout. It's a shame that as a non-Russian I'm missing lots of references, but then again references (blatant ones, on top of that) were something I didn't like about Fallout 2, so maybe it is for the best?

Its unfair and punishing at the beginning cause you get the same random encounters no matter your level. Most of them are instant death encounters, then when you get some gear, far too late in my opinion, everything become trivial. I dont know if a non melee character can even survive first few hours.

it is for the best. As as russian, i strongly disliked Atom because of overabundance of obnoxious references and bad jokes.
