You will hear the random townsfolk discussing your dragon trophy btw, which adds extra cool.

And if i don't remember wrong, the Linnorm head could also be put here. Caretaker commentary was rather amusing.

Part 57: Hall of the Mountain King

Arom meets Martin at the entrance to Murolosh.

That sounds good. Let’s go.

The king’s hall looks like Moria.

I am honored, King Arombolosh. I have come to Murolosh on urgent business: I need to enter the caves below the dwarven city in order to thwart an evil plot hatched by the dragon cultists!

9arHdmE.jpg
Caves… yes… well…

SUj2akk.jpg
I beg you - let me enter the caves!

9arHdmE.jpg
The deep caves are sealed off and it is my will that they remain so. The evil creatures that once resided there were banished and their route to the surface was blocked off long ago. I will not open the caves.

SUj2akk.jpg
Our enemies are trying to find a way into the caves. We have to get there before they do!

9arHdmE.jpg
Hm ... no. No, I cannot allow this. The seals are to remain unbroken. You may go now.

SUj2akk.jpg
What? But…

ep1ktHV.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you think you'll be able to change his mind?

JGqVyS9.jpg
Well, I've ... I've never seen him act so dismissively. It's strange. I know the caves beneath the mountain are dangerous, but the vehemence of my father's refusal surprises me. I hope that you will feel at home here in Murolosh. I will vouch for your good intentions to the Mountain King.

SUj2akk.jpg
I’m sure that’s best.

SUj2akk.jpg
It’s good to see you again Gerlin.

8dzpiFO.jpg
I have a good reputation among the Dwarves as you well know. Come to me, if you need any help.

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm still looking for the caves beneath Murolosh, but King Arombolosh hasn't been very are helpful I'm afraid. Although ... he did promise me a reward from his armory.

8dzpiFO.jpg
Hm, you didn't tread on Arombolosh's beard, did you? I suggest you collect your reward first. Perhaps the King just needs a bit longer to consider his decision. The quartermaster is just over there on the other side of the stairs.

SUj2akk.jpg
Take care, Gerlin.

More importantly, Salina is also around.

5UTQEA4.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Salina! My favorite Mountebank! What brings you to Murolosh?

Dranor immediately grovels before her.

SXE4xbR.jpg

OL20JsE.jpg
Oh Dranor, you flatter me! But I am still a little annoyed with you. Just give me a little more time.

R7D7MNr.jpg

Of course, Dranor spent all this time in Ardo’s house while the party was actually out achieving things.

OL20JsE.jpg
You did all that for me Dranor? I'll think about it. Really, I will. But what are you all doing here, Martin Schulz?

Dranor is done.

SUj2akk.jpg
I am here at the invitation of Prince Arom of Murolosh. It was we who slew that fearsome creature in Tallon. Never again will that monstrous Dragon prey on the innocent people of Tallon.

OL20JsE.jpg
Ha! I always knew there was more to you than meets the eye. Did you really slay a Dragon? You're full of surprises!

SUj2akk.jpg
I guess we all are, aren't we? I'm going to take a look around Murolosh. I can't wait to speak you again soon.

There’s also a Dwarven admirer around.

fdrImJH.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm quite a modest person ...But of course I'm flattered to hear such kind words from such a delightful and friendly Dwarf.

0iObwoT.jpg
Stay a while and tell me how you slew the Dragon.

SUj2akk.jpg
The honor is not mine alone. It takes many swords and axes to kill a Dragon ... Prince Arom and his soldiers played an important part in that battle and the victory is theirs as much as it is mine.

0iObwoT.jpg
Your modesty is so enchanting! You're just how I always imagined a hero would be!

SUj2akk.jpg
Now you're making me blush! All this praise is too much for me! I must attend to some urgent matters now. Goodbye for now, dearest Grazima.

Martin needed to pick a gift from the treasurer: the warhammer is nice for Forgrimm to use.

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm sorry but I don't quite understand - why would the high priest want to see us?

nzFkXvW.jpg
Prince Arom tells me that you're interested in the ancient caves below Murolosh. Xolgorax is an expert on dwarven history. If anyone could advise you on these matters, it would be him.

SUj2akk.jpg
And what has happened to Xolgorax?

JGqVyS9.jpg
Foul treachery, that's what! Our enemy's power reaches even into the very halls of our sacred temple. Our enemy must truly fear us - or they believe that we have finally let our guard down.

nzFkXvW.jpg
Our high priest Xolgorax is unconscious and nothing we have tried will wake him. Just imagine: When we examined his food, we discovered that his beer had been poisoned. I sent for you because I need your help in this matter.

SUj2akk.jpg
The high priest was poisoned?! By who?

JGqVyS9.jpg
By a Dragon worshipper of course! Draxasch Echs! Who else would do such a thing? If I ever get my hands on that foul murderer, he'll wish he was never born.

nzFkXvW.jpg
What the Prince means to say, is that we don't know who poisoned him yet. But it seems likely that this evil deed was carried out by a traitor acting on the orders of the enemies of Murolosh. For thousands of years Murolosh has been a bastion in the battle against the spawn of the great Dragons.

SUj2akk.jpg
How can I help you?

nzFkXvW.jpg
I have managed to identify the poison. Luckily this type of poison takes effect very slowly. But unfortunately the antidote is extremely difficult to concoct. One of the ingredients for the antidote is very rare. Our apothecary doesn't have any glautamash mushrooms, but there should be some in the mushroom caves nearby.

nzFkXvW.jpg
Could you bring us some of the mushrooms? Although it pains me to say this, I daren't trust anyone from the temple at this time. But you are a friend of Prince Arom and enjoy the King's respect. It is simply unthinkable that you could be involved in this crime.

SUj2akk.jpg
Don't worry, I'll find the mushrooms. Where should I start searching?

nzFkXvW.jpg
Wonderful! I shall mark the tunnel that leads to the mushroom gardens on your map. Speak with Grimbolosh the gardener when you get there. He can identify the correct mushroom. But be careful, it can be dangerous down there! Go now, and make haste! Our high priest is battling for his life.

SUj2akk.jpg
I swear by the Twelvegods, I will bring you the mushrooms you need!

Part 58: Murolosh sidequests

Xolgorax lies poisoned, but there are a couple of short and simple sidequests to perform.

In the tavern is Dwarf wombyn challenging Martin to a drinking contest.

kKoGq30.jpg

tMoJLX3.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
This looks like a real party. But I'm sure I can keep up with you all!

jP2JhBl.jpg
Keep up with us? Be careful not to bite off more than you can chew! There's not many folks that can drink like a Deont of Angrosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
Oho! Is that a challenge I hear, dear lady?

jP2JhBl.jpg
Ha! Of course it's a challenge! Well? Do you accept? I'll bet you 10 ducats that I can drink you under the table!

SUj2akk.jpg
HA! I could drink you under the table no matter what you made me drink!

jP2JhBl.jpg
What do you want to drink - dwarven beer or schnapps?

There’s some CN checks to go through. Needless to say, Martin buffed himself beforehand.

Xeuu4zR.jpg

t4n0bES.jpg

Angraxa doesn’t go down easily, eventually Gladys helps out with a Haggle check.

9t7dfUB.jpg

9CflaOy.jpg

wCypKss.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Well you certainly didn't make it easy for me. You are fine drinking companion! Can I ask you a few questions?

jP2JhBl.jpg
Of course, go ahead.

SUj2akk.jpg
Your clothes are different to those worn by the other Dwarves. Are you a Deont of Angrosh? What are you doing here in the tavern?

jP2JhBl.jpg
May I introduce myself - I am Angraxa Greatstone! Yes, I am a priest of Angrosh, but I'm also still quite young. My adventures brought me to the Anvil Mountains not that long ago. I am a Deont in Malmarzrom the Hammer Cave in the higher reaches of Drakensang Mountain.

SUj2akk.jpg
What is this 'Malmarzrom cave' that you speak of?

jP2JhBl.jpg
The cave is the most sacred place in dwarven culture ... and perhaps one of the most remote places in all of Aventuria. The Deonts and priests often come down to Murolosh on errands or to meet with the King, or just to enjoy some good old dwarven company.

SUj2akk.jpg
What would you recommend - dwarven beer or dwarven schnapps?

jP2JhBl.jpg
By Angrosh! Dwarves have argued about this for thousands of years now. Hehe ... Our beer is quite aromatic, but not too tangy - a nice way to spend a long evening ... Schnapps, on the other hand, is something for in between. It's stronger and makes a good 'pick me up'.

In Murolosh Forgrimm and Rhulana can now finally learn Strike of Wrath. Strike of Wrath combined 3xDP with Knockdown. A buffed up Forgrimm can hit for more than 300 damage with a critical Strike of Wrath with his new hammer.

sSPSyvn.jpg

C6fsppo.jpg

q7FTnaO.jpg

Murolosh also has the best merchants; a full suit of Dwarven plate can be purchased for Forgrimm.

4uCiUAZ.jpg

Not far from the tavern a more intellectual Dwarf offers a sidequest.

cvkV6ck.jpg

YkBd7Ql.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
"Just the kind of person you're looking for"? So who do you want me to maim, stalk or kill? Or do you just want me to retrieve something that has 'gone missing'?

59KOei7.jpg
What? Er ... no. I don't know what you're talking about. Hoho, I'm not looking for any trouble. I'm just interested in hearing your opinion.

SUj2akk.jpg
My opinion? Well, I have an opinion on just about everything. Which one do you want to hear?

59KOei7.jpg
I am a writer and I'm currently working on a guide to Murolosh. My book will be a comprehensive guide to the inhabitants, history and architecture of this magnificent city. I'd be very interested to hear your opinions as a guest of honor to our ancient halls. You would do me a great honor if you were to review the tavern and the traders here in Murolosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
Well if that's all you want ... I wanted to have a look inside the local stores anyway. Perhaps you can call that chapter "The Murolosh Report by Martin Schulz"!

59KOei7.jpg
Hoho! Come and see me again once you have taken a look at the tavern and the stores. I can't wait to hear what you think of our fine city.

One of the merchants to visit is the conspicuous Aldessia.

xrYRC81.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
What are you doing here?

lCTyle4.jpg
What does it look like? I'm a huckster as you can see and I'm here to trade with the Dwarves. If you're looking for rare and exotic wares straight from the Khom Desert, then you've come to the right place. Well?

She sells some exotic goods.

a5wDDgz.jpg

After visiting all the shops Martin makes a review of each of them to Simbeard… there’s an option between positive, neutral and negative.

cxJRuaS.jpg

59KOei7.jpg
And? What did you think?

SUj2akk.jpg
I was pleasantly surprised! They had the best beer I've ever drunk, friendly service and the location is fantastic - it's a wonderful place to get to know the Dwarves of Murolosh.

59KOei7.jpg
Hoho, how nice! That's enough material for another chapter. Do you have anything more to report?

SUj2akk.jpg
I had a look at Aldessia's wares.

59KOei7.jpg
And what did you think?

SUj2akk.jpg
Hmm. Her wares are affordable but her range of goods is quite small and she doesn't stock any specialist goods. There are plenty of merchants just like her above ground.

59KOei7.jpg
Hoho, how nice! That's enough material for another chapter. Do you have anything more to report?

SUj2akk.jpg
I went to see the dwarven armorer.

59KOei7.jpg
And what do you think of his shop?

SUj2akk.jpg
It's splendid! He had a number of rare pieces of armor and some weapons that I had never even heard of! You can be proud to have someone like that here in Murolosh!

59KOei7.jpg
Hoho, how nice! That's enough material for another chapter. Do you have anything more to report?

SUj2akk.jpg
I visited the dwarven general supplies merchant.

59KOei7.jpg
And what do you think of his shop?

SUj2akk.jpg
They had a number of rare items but some of their stock was just plain weird. Their wares weren't the worst I've seen, but I can't exactly heap praise on them either.

59KOei7.jpg
Hoho, how nice! That's enough material for another chapter. Do you have anything more to report?

SUj2akk.jpg
I visisted the dwarven ingredients trader.

59KOei7.jpg
And what do you think of the store?

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm quite impressed! Now that I have these ingredients, I can finally craft a few items that I have wanted to make for a long time now. The store was very well stocked.

59KOei7.jpg
I think I have everything I need to finish my guide to Murolosh. Thank you!

Finally there’s a sidequest involving the Dwarven girl next to Simbeard.

5MQVCaJ.jpg

EkJi4xq.jpg
Oh, it's nothing ... it's just that ... oh, it's enough to turn a mountain into a pile of rubble ... I'm troubled by an old family feud - nothing that I would want to waste your time with.

SUj2akk.jpg
Hm, perhaps you could explain it to me briefly.

EkJi4xq.jpg
You are too kind ... Where should I begin? Well, to put it in a nutshell ... My sisters and I have been feuding for decades now. On her deathbed, our mother bequeathed one piece of her jewelry to each of us. But she made sure that none of us inherited what we actually wanted. Of course, we could've swapped the pieces that we inherited. But since we never speak to each other, none of us have got what they want to this day.

EkJi4xq.jpg
You seem to be brave and intelligent - perhaps you have an idea how we could solve our problem!

SUj2akk.jpg
But of course! I would be glad to help make you all happy!

EkJi4xq.jpg
Oh, that would be such a relief. I'm so tired of this feuding ...

This quest comes down to finding the four dwarves scattered about Murolosh… then find out what they want and redistribute accordingly.

SUj2akk.jpg
Would you be prepared to give me the piece of jewelry that you inherited so that I can swap it with your sister's?

EkJi4xq.jpg
I ... I'm not sure. No. I miss my sisters so much ... but I'm sure they don't miss me. And who knows? Perhaps they sent you to trick me. I'm afraid I won't give you my inheritance, unless you can bring me the piece of jewelry that I want.

SUj2akk.jpg
Which piece of jewelry do you want?

EkJi4xq.jpg
I would like to have the necklace that Diota inherited. If you bring me the necklace, I'll give you the ring that Fadelika wants.

The dwarf called Darelitta is the first that can be convinced to give up a piece of jewelry.

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you know anything about the assassin?

nzFkXvW.jpg
Prince Arom was just here. A number of suspects have been arrested, including a female Bigling who recently arrived in Murolosh. The Bigling lacks an alibi and is also accused of being involved in a number of other crimes.

SUj2akk.jpg
I hope the high priest recovers quickly.

nzFkXvW.jpg
Oh, don't worry about him. Master Xolgorax is as hard as stone and as difficult to stop as a lava flow. I'm sure he'll be feeling better in a few hours.

nzFkXvW.jpg
And one more thing, Martin Schulz. The King has requested your presence in the throne room when you are finished here. The accused claims to be a friend of yours.

SUj2akk.jpg
The accused is a friend of mine? Do you know who it is?

nzFkXvW.jpg
No, I'm afraid I don't. The herald didn't say anything more than what I told you. You had better go. The King doesn't like to be kept waiting.

Martin returns to the cantankerous king.

tYsIaX3.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
A woman did this?

9arHdmE.jpg
Yes, a Human woman. It was the Mountebank, Salina.

CRgdbLJ.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Of course I believe you Salina. I'm sure we'll soon get to the bottom of this.

9arHdmE.jpg
I wouldn't be too sure of that, Martin Schulz. There is plenty of evidence against her.

SUj2akk.jpg
Show me your evidence and I will find out what is really going on here!

9arHdmE.jpg
Do you wish to take up her defense?

ZHDLClf.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Yes, I wish to defend Salina.

9arHdmE.jpg
Good. So be it. Salina is charged with the following crimes:

She poisoned Xolgorax and stole a valuable object from my vaults. We also suspect that she caused a recent tremor in the mines - my engineers are checking the tunnels for damage as we speak. At this time all the evidence points towards Salina's involvement in these heinous deeds.

SUj2akk.jpg
I will prove Salina innocent. I shall begin my investigations at once.

You’d think Dranor would have a lot of commentary here… but he doesn’t.

kjstE6M.jpg

JSb2pDn.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm making progress. But there are a few more questions that I have to ask you Salina.

OL20JsE.jpg
You can ask me anything.

SUj2akk.jpg
Can you think of anyone who could take the blame off you?

OL20JsE.jpg
There is a group of young Dwarves that I performed for several times. They could testify that I was performing for them at the time of the accident in the tunnel. Grimbeard is one of the group; I last spoke to him in the tavern.

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you have any idea who the real culprit could be?

OL20JsE.jpg
I hate to sound like a spiteful old wench, but there is something suspicious about Aldessia the huckster. There is something very strange about her. I don't like the way she grinned when the guards came to arrest me ...

SUj2akk.jpg
That's all the news I have for now. Don't worry Salina. I'll get you out of here!

Also in the throneroom the high priest is already up and about. It is not possible to talk to him without the camera going full NWN2.

RCXoz5h.jpg

lpC3XvU.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
It's good to see you alive and well Xolgorax.

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Is there anything I can do for you?

SUj2akk.jpg
King Arombolosh seemed strangely dismissive, don't you think?

unu8vWR.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I have a terrible suspicion! Dragonlings have been known to take on the form of other creatures in order to aid the Dragon Cultists ...

JGqVyS9.jpg
You're not suggesting ... Dragon spawn here?! In the heart of the dwarven empire? But that's impossible!

SUj2akk.jpg
But it would explain the King's strange behavior! I beg you Prince Arom - don't close your eyes to the possibility of something so terrible! Just imagine what could happen if it were true ...

JGqVyS9.jpg
I just can't imagine how such a thing could happen! Our King is constantly protected by the Royal Guards. It's impossible!

SUj2akk.jpg
I don't want to sound like some mad hatter like Rakorium, but we have to find out the truth somehow ...

ZZq5uRq.jpg
The King trusts me. I will ask the mighty Angrosh to guide me in this matter. Perhaps he can tell me if good King Arombolosh still rules upon the throne of Murolosh ...

ZZq5uRq.jpg
I have to disappoint you ... and I can reassure you: Your suspicion was wrong. The King is none other than our good King Arombolosh. There must be another reason for this inexplicable change in his behavior ...

SUj2akk.jpg
That does little to calm my nerves. Something is wrong with the King.

ZZq5uRq.jpg
All we can do at the moment is keep our eyes open. Is there anything else I can do for you?

SUj2akk.jpg
I'm interested in the caves deep below Murolosh. What do you know about them?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
I have already heard of your interest in the Deeps of Gruldur as we Angroshim call them. These ancient tunnels lie far below the city - most of them are even unknown to us. The tunnels are filled with a darkness that is like death itself. Legend tells of a courageous dwarven warrior who descended into the depths ... and met his fate there.

SUj2akk.jpg
What do you know about the caves?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Our ancestors blocked off the entrances to the caves long ago. A foul curse lies on those caves. Many thousands of years ago our ancestors fought a bitter war against the Grolms - a race of abominable Dragon worshippers. Few records from that ancient time have survived, but this is what we know from our legends.

SUj2akk.jpg
What can you tell me about the dwarven warrrior who entered the caves so long ago?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
His name was Argoram son of Artosham and he was a Dragon Quest Champion many centuries ago. Just as you are today.

They say that when his quest led him into the Deeps of Gruldur he was wearing the legendary Helm of Fire. But sadly, he never returned ... According to legend he was searching for the Grolmian city of Corumbra - a magical city of gold!

SUj2akk.jpg
Is there a way into the Deeps of Gruldur?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
By Angrosh! Today we know little of these things. Apparently Argoram spoke of the existence of "magical gates and entranceways" that he hoped would lead him into the lost caves and eventually to the Golden City of Corumbra. But to this day nobody knows exactly what he meant.

SUj2akk.jpg
And you say that Argoram was wearing a Helm of Fire?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Yes indeed. He discovered the helmet in the course of his Dragon Quest. The golden helmet bore a pattern similar to the one on your shield. Argoram's Helm of Fire possessed magical powers and protected him from fire.

SUj2akk.jpg
Corumbra ... the Golden City ... What can you tell me about Corumbra?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
The stories of Corumbra are ages old and little more than vague rumors. Legend has it that the Grolms lived in a city full of technomagical machines, where they hoarded their gold and other treasures. But who can tell whether the city ever really existed or if it was merely a tale that passed from one greedy treasure hunter to the next?

SUj2akk.jpg
I think I know enough now. Thank you, Xolgorax.

Upon leaving the throneroom Grazima comes running.

6cNqckb.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
That doesn't sound particularly pleasant. What do you want me to do?

0iObwoT.jpg
If you kill all of the tomb lice in the warehouses, perhaps then you can find a clue there that will lead us to whoever orchestrated the attack. Perhaps that would help clear the Human woman's name?

SUj2akk.jpg
The tomb lice are as good as dead.

0iObwoT.jpg
Ah, excellent! I knew that I was dealing with a true hero! The entrance to my tribe's chambers lies in the central shaft in the middle of the city. I will meet you there when you are ready to march into battle.

Grimbeard in the tavern provides an alibi for Salina after some persuasion.

EIlny65.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
You know Salina the Mountebank, do you not? And I'm sure you've heard that she is to be put on trial.

XRh7I0l.jpg
Yes, I do. It's a shocking affair, don't you think? That poor, poor lady. I hope the king finds her innocent. It's all my fault that she is here in Murolosh. I saw her perform in Ferdok and invited her to delight the Dwarves of Murolosh with her arts.

SUj2akk.jpg
Salina claims that your testimony would prove that she was not involved in the sabotage attack on the tunnel. Would you be prepared to testify to her innocence in court?

XRh7I0l.jpg
I ... well ... Arombolosh forbade her from performing. If I testify that she did perform, that would cause all kinds of problems, wouldn't it?

SUj2akk.jpg
It certainly wouldn't please the Mountain King, but it would be the lesser of two evils. An alibi would definitely help Salina.

XRh7I0l.jpg
Oh, I don't know ... people will talk once word gets around that I ignored a royal decree. And the Grey Beards won't like the fact that a Bigling woman was involved. I ... um ... no ... I can't do that to my family!

bEZxUUi.jpg
[Fast Talk] I know that you like Salina. You can't just abandon her like this! She is depending on you. You should've seen her - she was terrified! She needs you to testify!

QjAH39d.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Salina will be so grateful. You are very brave. I will see you at the trial.

Helping Grazima leads to another clue.

A clue awaits at the end.

a8wBUKv.jpg

WCk0yoY.jpg

7u88xtn.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
And? How bad is it?

0iObwoT.jpg
What a catastrophe! Everything has either been smashed to pieces or has bite marks all over it. But ... Wait a moment! My grandfather's stone tablet is missing! It should be here. Those beasts don't eat stone. Whoever lured the lice here, must have stolen the tablet.

SUj2akk.jpg
A stone tablet? What kind of stone tablet?

0iObwoT.jpg
It was an ancient artifact that my grandfather found in a lost mining tunnel. The inscription was written in a strange language. We couldn't decipher it. Who would want to steal something like that?

SUj2akk.jpg
I found this bottle of yellow liquid. Do you know what it is?

0iObwoT.jpg
No. It's certainly not mine. Perhaps Lugosh can I identify it, that old alchemist.

Talking to Lugosh also leads to another clue.

XtoB91s.jpg

Ey024kG.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I found this bottle of yellow liquid. Do you know what it is?

nzFkXvW.jpg
Hhhmm ... Give it to me. Yes ... it's yellow ... quite thick and smells of ... urgh! It has quite a sticky consistency ...

If I'm not mistaken this is some kind of bait for attracting bugs such as centipedes, lice and scorpions. It's manufactured in the Khom Desert and is very rarely seen in these parts. After all, who would want to attract bugs? I believe the dark-skinned Biglings that inhabit the desert eat bugs - there is nothing else to eat in the desert except hot sand ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you have any idea how the assassin got past the temple guards with the poison?

nzFkXvW.jpg
He didn't have to. The poison was in the beer, not in the food.

SUj2akk.jpg
Where does the temple gets its beer from?

nzFkXvW.jpg
Straight from the tavern. Master Xolgorax always keeps a small barrel of his favorite beer at the tavern.

Off to the tavern it is, then.

zKVzKps.jpg

ULs1h1R.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I come from Lugosh. Apparently you delivered a barrel of poisoned beer to the temple!

tOeEPUU.jpg
Oh I know, I know! Isn't it terrible? I swear I had nothing to do with it! Somebody must have broken into the warehouse.

SUj2akk.jpg
Doesn’t anybody guard the warehouse?

tOeEPUU.jpg
No, I'm afraid not. We never dreamt that our enemies would ever be able to infiltrate Murolosh! Our city gates and our warriors are always on the alert - all the foreigners entering Murolosh are checked thoroughly before they pass the gates. But we must have slipped up somehow ... and we almost paid a dreadful price for our negligence.

SUj2akk.jpg
Were there any signs of forced entry?

tOeEPUU.jpg
No, nothing. Whoever picked the lock knew exactly what they were doing. They even locked the door again after they had added the poison to the barrel.

SUj2akk.jpg
I need to take a look. That’s alright, isn’t it?

tOeEPUU.jpg
I'm not sure about that... The storeroom has been declared off-limits and I'm not supposed to let anyone enter it.

SUj2akk.jpg
King Arombolosh has charged me with the task of defending Salina. How am I supposed to do that if I cannot examine the scene of the crime evidence?

tOeEPUU.jpg
Really? Hmmm. You really should be able to examine the scene of the crime as her defense. But orders are orders and I can't just give you the key.

bEZxUUi.jpg
[Fast Talk] I am a friend of Prince Arom. If anyone makes a complaint about the key, I will take full responsibility for your actions. Your good reputation will remain unblemished.

tOeEPUU.jpg
Really? Alright then, I'll believe you. Here, take the key. And may Angrosh help you to find what you're looking for.

SUj2akk.jpg
Thank you. I’ll take good care of the key.

In this storeroom at least are only a handful of rats.

pxBwx40.jpg

VJ9pn94.jpg

The clue is hidden on a beer keg.

K2F5DbV.jpg

A6wTHR5.jpg

The next clue is provided by a miner in the tavern.

xiYRhvL.jpg

z9uWSlT.jpg
It must have been sabotage! I've already found a number of tunnel props that were deliberately destroyed. I want to examine the rest later when all this is over. Right now I need at least another five miners to prop up the rest of the tunnel. Find some miners and send them down here to us.

SUj2akk.jpg
Of course. You can count on me.

z9uWSlT.jpg
Excellent. Hurry, or things could get worse.

The miners scattered about the city are easily found.

y5G7ID0.jpg

Looking around the city Martin comes across a wounded dwarf. Another clue.

hQvRcW1.jpg

AbLzbLK.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
[Use Balm of Healing]I can help you right away.

OQcXL6W.jpg
Thank you. You saved my life.

SUj2akk.jpg
Tell me, what happened to you?

OQcXL6W.jpg
I saw someone breaking into the Mountebank's sleeping quarters. I ... wanted to call for the guards and then suddenly somebody hit me on the back of my head and I ... I lost consciousness. I would be dead now, if it wasn't for you. Thank you, by Angrosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
Could you repeat what you just told me at the royal court? Salina has been charged with attempting to murder Xolgorax the high priest. But someone else must be behind it.

TqwAnGE.jpg

Looking around for the miners Martin also crosses paths with the very suspicious Aldessia.

jLKqfqY.jpg

1u2Rgk5.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Arombolosh has appointed me to the office of Seeker of Truth. I would like to ask you a few questions.

lCTyle4.jpg
Of course. I would do anything to help you solve these heinous crimes. But I'm afraid there's not much I can do to help you - I didn't see anything suspicious.

SUj2akk.jpg
What do you think about Salina?

lCTyle4.jpg
I don't think much of Mountebanks really. I prefer to make my living with honest work, as you can see. But Salina seems to be a nice person ... But to be honest, we've never spoken and I only know her from sight.

SUj2akk.jpg
I found a louse attractant from Khom in the storeroom that the stone tablet was stolen from. Is it from your stock?

lCTyle4.jpg
Absolutely not. Nobody would buy that! But if there was some kind of repellent on the market ... that would sell very well indeed!

When all miners are back with Orgrim Martin receives an important clue.

p1KSWQ6.jpg

jL2T5y5.jpg

Martin returns to speak with Salina to clear this up.

Dwhzgil.jpg

OL20JsE.jpg
But I never went near any of the mining tunnels! That scrap of cloth is from my new dress! Someone must've cut it out of my dress and rubbed it in the dirt. I beg you, Martin Schulz - go to my sleeping quarters and you will find a Dwarf by the name of Ungrimm. I entrusted him with the care of my belongings. He can show you the dress.

Martin enters Salina’s quarters in the city.

zubnd0d.jpg

0UQyaer.jpg

lMjAUF9.jpg

qfBOYup.jpg
I don't think you'll look very attractive in her dress! And anyway, I have plenty of other things to do and I'm running out of time. First I had to endure your endless prattling and now I'm supposed to waste my time finding a dress for you! Where am I supposed to find the time for my real work?

SUj2akk.jpg
But I am defending Salina at her trial before King Arombolosh!

qfBOYup.jpg
Oh, why didn't you say so?! You should have told me that to begin with instead of blathering on about this and that all day! Of course I'll help you! But how is that dress going to help?

SUj2akk.jpg
I intend to use the dress as evidence at the trial. I need it to prove her innocence!

qfBOYup.jpg
Here. Take it. But what is that dress going to prove? She has never worn it here in Murolosh. See? The dress is clean and unworn! You can still see the creases where I ironed it ... Wait a moment! Look! Someone has cut out a piece of cloth! By Angrosh!

SUj2akk.jpg
See? That's very suspicious ... Thank you for your help, Ungrimm ... and for your precious time.

Martin now has more than enough evidence to prove Salina’s innocence.

Part 61: The trial

It’s time to win the trial.

6905aeM.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
Are you quite sure of this? You cannot present any new evidence once the trial has begun. The more evidence you collect and the more witnesses you have, the better your chances of winning the trial will be.

Do you wish to begin with the trial or would you prefer to continue your investigation?

SUj2akk.jpg
I have enough evidence. Let the trial begin!

3PTAqXW.jpg

VbLrgdb.jpg

y6ySdi8.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
The trial will proceed as follows: I will present our case for each charge that is to be brought against Salina and you will then have the opportunity to refute our case. You may present each statement and each piece of evidence only once during the trial. Consider carefully which evidence you wish to present and in the order in which you present it, my friend.

9arHdmE.jpg
You will also have the opportunity to address the court and enter a final plea for the accused. You may also present circumstantial evidence in order to prove Salina's innocence or to outline your case against another potential perpetrator. The same rule applies here: Each statement and each piece of evidence may be used only once. If you have already presented a piece of evidence during your defence, you may not use it again while entering your final plea.

Do you understand?

SUj2akk.jpg
I understand. Let’s begin.

9arHdmE.jpg
Salina, Queen of the Mountebanks, is charged with having committed a number of serious crimes against the dwarven kingdom of Tosh Mur and the Royal City of Murolosh. In the course of this trial, I, King Arombolosh of Murolosh, will prove the guilt of the accused beyond a shadow of a doubt.

9arHdmE.jpg
Let us come to the first charge. Salina is new and unknown in Murolosh, she is a Mountebank with no permanent roots - and that alone makes her very suspicious. Furthermore, she repeatedly performed her arts in front of Murolosh's youth during the last few days, even though she had been expressly forbidden from doing so. With her disobedience Salina planted all kinds of unDwarflike thoughts into the heads of our young Angroshim!

SUj2akk.jpg
I am also a stranger to this city. Why don't you put me on trial too?

9arHdmE.jpg
You are no stranger. You are a valiant companion of Prince Arom of Murolosh - my son. I understand your intentions however and I shall ignore this point in my judgment.

9arHdmE.jpg
High Priest Xolgorax was found nearly dead in his chamber, because someone had poisoned the beer for the temple. At the time of this vile attack on our high priest no one saw the accused Salina in Murolosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Alibi' as evidence]

It may well be that Salina does not have an alibi for this crime. But I can present to you a witness who can provide Salina with an alibi for the time of one of the other crimes.

9arHdmE.jpg
I call Grimbeard son of Kirolosh as my next witness!

9arHdmE.jpg
Grimbeard, son of Kirolosh, you have been called as a witness in these proceedings. Angrosh himself is looking upon you from above. Speak only the truth, and let no lie pass your lips. Have you understood?

3l52Oq2.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
Then speak!

XRh7I0l.jpg
Salina cannot have been involved in the sabotage attack on the mine tunnel. At the time of the attack she was ... staging a private show ... for my friends and me. I realize that you had previously forbidden us from attending the Mountebank's performance and that we will be punished for our disobedience, but I cannot stand by and watch an innocent woman be punished for a crime she did not commit.

9arHdmE.jpg
Grimbeard, you knew that I had expressly forbidden any contact between yourself and the Mountebank. And yet you chose to defy my wishes! You will be punished for your actions in due time. But! Your statement does indeed clear Salina's name. I will decide on the appropriate punishment for you and your friends later.

9arHdmE.jpg
Dwarf Grazima's storerooms were overrun by a plague of lice. At the same time valuable items were taken. Shortly before the deed, a Bigling was seen leaving the chamber. And Salina is a Bigling!

SUj2akk.jpg
A stone tablet was stolen from Grazima's storeroom. Was it found amongst the accused's belongings?

9arHdmE.jpg
I have to admit that we failed to find the tablet on her or at her place of residence here in Murolosh. She may have tried to hide it somewhere, although she really didn't have enough time to do that ... Hmm.

DxoMLeO.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
A valuable artifact was stolen. Shards of glass that have been identified as being from one of Salina's juggling balls were found at the scene of the crime. She must have dropped them when she broke in!

SUj2akk.jpg
The artifact is still missing, isn't it? If Salina had stolen the artifact, the guards would have found it among her possessions.

9arHdmE.jpg
The artifact has not been retrieved yet, but Salina may have hidden it or even sold it in the meantime. She had plenty of time to do so. The evidence is against her.

9arHdmE.jpg
And finally: A few hours ago a gallery collapsed in the mine that destroyed several days' work and took the lives of good Dwarf laborers. We found a scrap of cloth from one of Salina's dresses at the scene of the tragedy. In addition, a woman's voice was heard, so she must have been at the crime scene!

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Scrap of Cloth' as evidence]

Look! The scrap of cloth is filthy, but the dress that the cloth was allegedly torn from is clean and tidy. It's as though somebody deliberately placed the scrap of cloth at the scene!

9arHdmE.jpg
Let me have a look ... Hmm, you're right. That looks most suspicious! And she hardly had enough time to wash, dry and iron the dress afterwards. That would indeed appear to weaken our case against Salina.

Mc0Ai2T.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
I have read the charges and have heard the defense's arguments. You will now have the opportunity to deliver your closing remarks, Martin Schulz.

SUj2akk.jpg
I’m ready, your Majesty.

9arHdmE.jpg
Present us with your next item.

SUj2akk.jpg
[General remarks] I would like to begin by making a few general comments.

9arHdmE.jpg
Of course. Take your time, Martin Schulz.

SUj2akk.jpg
I know Salina well and I'm willing to vouch for her character. She is a trustworthy individual.

9arHdmE.jpg
You have mentioned this before, Martin Schulz. But perhaps you are simply too quick to trust those you meet?

9arHdmE.jpg
Present us with your next item.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Mention the red hair in the storeroom]

I found another piece of evidence relating to the poisoning of Xolgorax!

9arHdmE.jpg
Really? Tell us more.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Red Hair' as evidence]

We found this strand of red hair in the storeroom. But Salina doesn't have red hair! The hair must belong to the real perpetrator and this strand of hair is exactly the same color as Aldessia's hair!

9arHdmE.jpg
Aha! Aldessia ... Hmm, what you say is true. Salina does not have red hair. But Aldessia is one of our trustworthy guests. A strand of hair is not enough to make a suspect out of her. But I shall take note of your argument.

9arHdmE.jpg
Present us with your next item.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Mention the louse bait]

I found out the cause of the lice infestation in Grazima's storeroom: This bottle of lice bait was hidden in the storeroom!

9arHdmE.jpg
What else can you tell us about this bait?

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Khom Connection' as evidence]

This type of lice bait comes from the Khom Desert - and everyone knows that Aldessia trades with merchants from the Khom Desert. You just have to look at her wares to know this ... The bait must belong to Aldessia!

9arHdmE.jpg
But perhaps Aldessia sold the bottle to Salina?

SUj2akk.jpg
But then why didn't Aldessia come to you as soon as the bottle was found? Her silence is extremely suspicious.

9arHdmE.jpg
That is a good point. She knew that I was willing to pay a reward for any information pertinent to our inquiries. Her actions are indeed very suspicious.

gBjWlJO.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
Present us with your next item.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Mention the burglary at Salina's rooms]

I would now like to speak about another incident - one which demonstrates that Salina is not a criminal, but is in fact the true victim here.

9arHdmE.jpg
Another incident? Speak!

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Burglary' as evidence]

An unknown person was observed breaking into Salina's sleeping quarters. I would like to call Shrobosh son of Simosh as my next witness.

9arHdmE.jpg
Come forward and address the court Shrobosh son of Simosh!

9arHdmE.jpg
Shrobosh, son of Simosh, you have been called as a witness in these proceedings. Angrosh himself is looking upon you from above. Speak only the truth, and let no lie pass your lips. Have you understood?

Wb1n9Z8.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
Hmm, that is indeed most extraordinary ... it would also appear to support several of the arguments you have put to the court, Martin Schulz. I will consider this when making my judgment.

DC5dBAn.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
Present us with your next item.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Reveal your suspicions regarding Aldessia]

I have another point I would like to raise concerning Aldessia.

SUj2akk.jpg
[Present 'Aldessia's Disappearance' as evidence]

I have a statement from Domax son of Doromax! He can testify that Aldessia was frequently absent from her stall in the last few weeks. And ... that she was not at her stall at the time of several of the incidents!

9arHdmE.jpg
I call on Domax son of Doromax to testify before this court!

9arHdmE.jpg
Tradesman Domax, Son of Doromax, give your testimony!

g0kvc6c.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
In itself that is hardly what one could call suspicious behavior - there could be a perfectly harmless explanation for her absence. However, when I pass my judgment on this matter I will also consider the fact that Aldessia was not at her stall at the time of the incidents.

ca3OYR9.jpg

9arHdmE.jpg
The defense's closing remarks are herewith completed. All evidence and arguments have been submitted, I will now announce my verdict!

INaGFxw.jpg

EUgkKfr.jpg

Pddu69K.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
It was an honor, dearest Salina.

9arHdmE.jpg
You will have plenty of time to thank me later. There are more important things to be done now. We still have to catch the person behind these foul deeds.

SUj2akk.jpg
Of course, your Majesty. I’m listening.

9arHdmE.jpg
Martin Schulz, bring Aldessia to me. She has some questions to answer.

SUj2akk.jpg
Thank you, your Majesty. I will bring Aldessia before your court!

The reward for helping Salina is just a ring.

OL20JsE.jpg
Yes Dranor, I know. I can't be angry with you after all that has happened.

Shall we return to Ferdok together?

iiubZkI.jpg
My dearest Salina, I would love to return to Ferdok with you but there are still things to be done here. Our heroic struggle is not over yet. I can't leave Martin Schulz now that we've almost reached our goal.

OL20JsE.jpg
I understand that. I will wait for you Dranor. Martin Schulz, take good care of my Dranor.

And thank you once more for clearing my name of those despicable crimes.

SUj2akk.jpg
I was glad I could help.

OL20JsE.jpg
You are so modest. But I would like to thank you for what you have done for me. Please take this ring as a sign of my gratitude!

SUj2akk.jpg
Thank you fair lady. What will you do now?

OL20JsE.jpg
I'm not sure yet. I think I will stay in Murolosh and recover from my imprisonment before continuing with my travels. I don't resent the Dwarves for what they did, but I certainly don't want to perform here anymore.

SUj2akk.jpg
I wish you good luck on your travels. Farewell, my fair Mountebank!

Yeah, she could have given us a kiss at least. Speaking of: Can you fail the trial? What happens if you do?
IT's also way better than Neverpwinter2 OC Campaign's trial one, but that's a low bar.

Part 62: Aldessia

It’s time to apprehend Aldessia.

JuW39br.jpg

T1BMXvb.jpg

6fjPXzs.jpg

5jzLGdW.jpg

Aldessia’s quarters are in a warehouse and are quite expansive. She is found down below.

ehMn2Hv.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
We are here at the behest of King Arombolosh - you are under arrest! We know what you have been up to, Aldessia!

lCTyle4.jpg
Under arrest? Don't be ridiculous! It's too late! You can't stop us now!

Aldessia has no weapons but pulls two stone golems out of her ass.

tShTJlb.jpg

Amusingly, stone golems can be turned to… stone.

Yn1FZNj.jpg

The cavalry shows up after the enemies are dead.

Perhaps her records will enlighten us.

Martin also gains the next-to-last piece of his golden armour.

PabnwXB.jpg

hIxWod4.jpg

Martin will take a break before stepping through the portal.

UY77DjU.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you know where this portal leads to?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Unfortunately Aldessia's notes don't say anything about where the portal leads to. All we know is that it opens a path into the caves below Murolosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you have any idea how far Aldessia got with the portal?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
She only recently managed to figure out how the mechanism works. By Angrosh - if you'd come much later, she would've been gone already!

SUj2akk.jpg
Good. Then the time has come for my journey into the unknown ... The secret to the Adamantine Heart must lie somewhere beyond this portal ...

Martin returns to Ferdok to kick out Dranor and add Ancoron to the party.

M6oJzGO.jpg

A while back Martin got a key from Yandric’s corpse… it opens the door to Ardo’s office.

Cyl9nbk.jpg

Vgh5Rji.jpg

Inside the chest is Ardo’s sword, known from River of Time.

G8PZk5h.jpg

vBq1E4H.jpg

At any rate, Ancoron at this point of the game is already OP.

7M3cbWj.jpg

Meanwhile in the cellar of Ardo’s house, the rock goblin bought as a pet a while back has now tunneled through the cellar wall to expose a hidden area.

There’s just a chest with some silly items inside.

Part 63: Deeps of Gruldur

The portal leads to a ruined area.

Passageways are closed off by cyclopean doors that can only be opened by a special artifact.

There’s a Dwarven corpse lying around – with the accompanying ghost.

SUj2akk.jpg
No. I'm as fit as a fiddle! And I hope to stay that way! Who or what are you?

njmT66W.jpg
Oh ... so much is ... forgotten ...

SUj2akk.jpg
What? What was forgotten?

njmT66W.jpg
You have forgotten my name. Everyone has forgotten my name!

SUj2akk.jpg
I haven't forgotten your name! I never knew your name! Tell me, what is your name?

njmT66W.jpg
I ... I have forgotten it too ...

SUj2akk.jpg
You are a ghost, aren't you? Do you at least know that?

njmT66W.jpg
Yes ... a ghost. Without a name. Trapped forever in these caves. My most precious possession was stolen from me ... the one and only thing that connected me to her. I will never rest, as long as it remains in the hands of the despicable Grolmurim.

SUj2akk.jpg
A piece of jewelry? Something that once belonged to your sweetheart? I will keep my eyes open for it.

njmT66W.jpg
I beg you ... find it and deliver me from this world. Find ... An amulet, yes, it is an amulet. Take in exchange, what no one else down here can use ...

SUj2akk.jpg
You want to give me something that nobody else down here needs?

njmT66W.jpg
They are all dead. They ... walk through the walls. Can you walk through walls? Only the living need the keys to the round doors ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Keys? That sounds good. Hey! Stay here! Where is the key? ... Hmm ... I hope you don't mind me searching your corpse's pockets?

There’s indeed a key on the Dwarf’s corpse. Three are needed in total to open every cyclopean door.

The other keys are hidden in the previously closed-off tunnels… infested by the usual vermin.

There are also some ghost battles going on.

SUj2akk.jpg
Am I going the right way?

njmT66W.jpg
The right way ... Y...Yes... But HE scattered them ... each piece is hidden somewhere else. He wants to slow your progress ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Who? Who are you talking about? And what has he scattered?

njmT66W.jpg
The keys ... HE has hidden them so that no one will find HIS treasure ...

SUj2akk.jpg
The keys to the other round doors?!!! I'll find them! What else do you know about the treasure? And tell me, who is HE?

njmT66W.jpg
The treasure ... HE guards it ... HE is to blame for everything. HE is the worst of the little monsters ...

A bit further are rock goblins, a new enemy.

T1Gybtg.jpg

JGtLUrm.jpg

At the end of the tunnel is the second key, guarded by some fire spirits.

SUj2akk.jpg
Were you ... were you killed in one of those battles? Or did you die in one of their traps?

njmT66W.jpg
No ... not a battle ... Everyone was already dead when I came here ... What was I looking for? I have forgotten everything ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Why did the Dwarves and Grolms fight?

njmT66W.jpg
The Grolmurim were despicable Dragon worshipers ... How could you forget all that?

SUj2akk.jpg
The Grolms worshiped Dragons down here? That's strange ... Did you ever see a Dragon here?

njmT66W.jpg
HE still prays to them ... but I have never seen a Dragon here ... Or perhaps I have forgotten that as well ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Wait! Don't just disappear!

Further in the tunnels are more ghost battles.

Part 64: Helmet of Fire

Past the third door is an ancient collapsed tunnel that once lead to Murolosh.

What was forgotten?

njmT66W.jpg
Forgotten? I don't know ... I forgot ...

SUj2akk.jpg
I meant: Did the Dwarves forget about the existence of this tunnel and their war against the Grolms?

njmT66W.jpg
It is not forgotten ... the knowledge is still there, but most cannot remember the war ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Wait! Who are you?

The ghost just disappears without answering.

There’s a large stairway with a high concentration of Grolms.

There’s a chest here with the amulet the Dwarf ghost needs.

On the way back eventually there’s a corridor with a fireball spamming statue. There’s no way to disable it or avoid the damage.

SUj2akk.jpg
You must be Argoram, son of Artosham, the Dragon Quest Challenger and bearer of the legendary Helm of Fire. Xolgorax told me about you.

njmT66W.jpg
Indeed! That is my name! My name! At last I know who I am again! My memories are returning to me!

SUj2akk.jpg
Were you searching for the Adamantine Heart? Were you trapped here because you didn't have any more discs for the portal to Murolosh?

njmT66W.jpg
There is so much that I cannot remember ... I know that I wanted to open the Cyclopean door with the key I found in the portal chamber ... whatever I was looking for was behind the door ... then suddenly HE reached out of the wall and grabbed me ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you mean "He, who guards the treasure"? What kind of creature is He?

njmT66W.jpg
HE is the master of the Grolms ... a spirit full of rage and madness that still bears his crown! He is more powerful than any of the Grolms you have encountered so far. He defeated me in a ferocious battle, then he tore the Helm of Fire from my head and took my dear Angrosha's amulet, the disc for the portal ... and two of the Cyclopean keys ... I only managed to hide the last key from him ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Then I presume you only managed to explore part of the cave system ... Did you manage to find the other keys again?

njmT66W.jpg
No ... no. I couldn't explore any further. The wounds that HE inflicted bled terribly and I knew my time was near ... But I clung to this world ... I became a ghost and waited here to warn any who might follow in my footsteps ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Thank you, ghostly comrade. Look! I bear the Shield of Fendral - a reward for my success in the Dragon Quests. Like yourself, I have set out to find the Adamantine Heart. And I intend to complete the task that the Oracle has set the Dragon Quest Challengers. What will happen to you now?

njmT66W.jpg
For the first time in centuries I feel ... Hope ... yes ... hope. You should be the new bearer of the Helm of Fire that you successfully wrestled from the Grolms vermin. You are the one who will complete my work. You do not have far to go ... I will await you in the portal cave ...

The golden armour is now complete.

Back in the teleporter room the Grolm cavalry appears but they are not a threat.

The last task is to put the ghost to rest.

4PjBu1r.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Here! Take it, proud Dwarven ghost!

njmT66W.jpg
But ... I can't hold it ... I'm a ghost! Place it alongside my corpse where it belongs.

SUj2akk.jpg
So be it. I hope you can find your rest at last.

njmT66W.jpg
Rest ... aahh! I have wasted such a long time ... such a long time ...Now everything will be alright. Thank you. You have my blessing.

SUj2akk.jpg
Thank you. May the amulet bring you peace ...

All that remains is leaving this dreadful place for good.

Part 65: Mad King

As soon as the party steps back into Murolosh there’s some new drama to take care of.

yQMsvx9.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
How on Ethra could that that happen?

nzFkXvW.jpg
If only we knew! It's as though the murderous rage of our foul enemy is reaching out to grasp our very souls. Xolgorax is determined to find out the cause of this calamity. He wants to meet you outside the throne room. I will take you there at once.

SUj2akk.jpg
Yes, let’s go!

GUoyv6u.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Have you managed to find out why King Arombolosh is behaving so strangely?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Ka roboschan hortiman Angroshim! His strange moods began shortly after you accompanied Prince Arom to Murolosh. I fear that the Dragon's carbuncle may be the cause of all this.

SUj2akk.jpg
The soulstone? But how?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
According to your story the Dragon was a deranged and wild creature ... and now our good King Arombolosh wears the Dragon's carbuncle in his crown. Furthermore ... this terrible curse seems only to have afflicted those Dwarves who spend much of their time in the throne room with the King. And the Soulstone ...

SUj2akk.jpg
Oh. the foul treachery of it all! Do you think that removing the carbuncle will lift the curse?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
We can only pray that it will. Prince Arom and I managed to lock the King and his guards in the throne room. Their conduct was shocking! Prince Arom's Dragonslayers are on guard at the throne room. They will let you in. Once you are ready to enter the throne room, you will have to wear King Arombolosh down until you can strike the stone from his crown.

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you really want me to attack and perhaps even kill the Dwarves in the throne room?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
I'm afraid we don't have any other choice. By Angrosh, we will just have to hope that we can save their lives once the battle is won. But who knows how many more will die if we hesitate now. Gortoscha mortomosch!

SUj2akk.jpg
How many dwarven warriors are in the throne room with King Arombolosh?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
There are probably more than a dozen but I'm not entirely sure. You will have to be prepared for a ferocious fight!

SUj2akk.jpg
And what should I do with the stone?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Try not to touch it or you will be its next victim! Just wait for me!

SUj2akk.jpg
It’s now or never…

The quickest and easiest way to progress is to pick off Dorf after Dorf with Master marksman. It’s normally a one shot kill.

AU8UHt8.jpg

pvijMeU.jpg

4Q5p0sw.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
Your Majesty was bewitched by a demon that slumbered within the carbuncle. But that is all over now. The stone has been smashed to pieces.

9arHdmE.jpg
Yes ... I remember ... the evil spirit in the stone. I didn't realize that it was clouding my mind at first. And then, it turned me into a marionette. Oh the shame! Ka Angrosch garaschmox! He ridiculed me while I ... while I was forced to watch him poison my people with his treachery!

I saw strange images in my mind. The creature told me how the Dragon Cultists met in the ruins of a castle and summoned him to the carbuncle of a young Dragon.

9arHdmE.jpg
Sensing the demon inside his head, the Dragon fell into a violent rage. But the demon merely gloated over its deranged antics. The demon knew that sooner or later our dragonslayers would come to kill the Linnorm. And I was foolish enough to have the stone set in my crown. It was all an evil plan hatched by our enemies. The demon was to be the downfall of Murolosh.

9arHdmE.jpg
You have helped us again, Martin Schulz. You will always find refuge and a place of honor here in these halls. Go to the quartermaster and he will give you another piece of treasure.

SUj2akk.jpg
You are too generous, Arombolosh! I thank you for your kind offer.

9arHdmE.jpg
I see that you have found the Helm of Fire. Now we can turn your item into a complete item that will serve you well on your quest. Do you have any other wishes?

SUj2akk.jpg
I came here to explore the caves below Murolosh and to retrieve an ancient treasure that the Dragon Cultists also seek: the Adamantine Heart. The wearer of this mighty armor can pass unharmed through the Fire Falls of Algormosch and enter the ancient caves. It is my desire to enter the caves.

Martin’s armour pieces are now merged into the Armor of fire.

Bap6QZ6.jpg

ePWeqRH.jpg

MKxPObN.jpg

ZZq5uRq.jpg
When we found the obsidian disc I had the strange feeling that I had seen something similar before. It would appear that the Angroshim discovered a similar object during excavations a long, long time ago.

I took the obsidian discs and used them to open another portal.

SUj2akk.jpg
Did you pass through the portal? What was on the other side?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
The portal is different to the one you used. It radiates an intense heat and I suspect that it is somehow related to the Fire Falls that you wish to cross through.

The more time I spent studying the ancient records, the more convinced I was that they refer to this portal and not to the real Fire Falls of Algormosh.

SUj2akk.jpg
Do you think that I can use the portal to reach Aldessia's Chambers behind the Fire Falls?

ZZq5uRq.jpg
Yes, I think so ... in fact, I'm sure you can.

The portal is connected to the Fire Falls and radiates an intense heat capable of incinerating any living creature that dares to approach it. But you will be able to pass through the portal unscathed wearing the Armor of Fire. I'm quite sure of that!

SUj2akk.jpg
The Armor of Fire is the key to this mystery! It all makes sense. The Oracle of Hesinde has guided me on my journey and given me everything that I need to face the challenge ahead.

lRajY5M.jpg

SUj2akk.jpg
I have no time to lose!

Thank you for everything!

Now that Arombolosh came down from his throne Gladys can pickpocket him (hardest pickpocket in the game).

He carries two good rings.

Stealing from the king, lol. I wonder if there's some sort of special consequence if you're caught besides "everyone turns hostile and you lose" thing.

I wonder if your NPCs will accompany you to that area, or if it will be a strict solo adventure affair.

Part 66: Best served cold

It’s time to get vengeance for Ardo and destroy Neisbeck.

Heh, someone cursing the gods and said gods taking action instantly? That's cool. It also shows that cutscene paralysis goes both ways.

There’s a door at the end of the corridor but it’s shut tighter than a virgin’s legs.

To open the door the party must return to the place with the cyclops skeleton. There’s an elusive switch on the wall.

Destroying the pillar to push it to the switch opens the door.

In the next area there’s a broken bridge that somehow needs to be crossed.
