I guess they're doing fine? (Or some investment kicked in?): https://www.ioi.dk/ioi-malmo/

IOI Malmö

We’re happy and proud to announce that we’re opening a new studio in Malmö, Sweden.

We are super excited and proud to announce IOI Malmö. We will expand IOI to join a buzzling game developer community and bring our own unique IOI culture to this amazing town”, says Hakan Abrak, CEO, IO Interactive.

The new studio will strengthen IO Interactive’s commitment to deliver exceptional content to the HITMAN franchise, community, and all our fans. “Furthermore, this will expand our muscles for creating brand-new and exciting endeavours, new universes, new franchises. In other words, IOI Malmö and Copenhagen are one family”, Hakan Abrak continues.

“The IOI expansion in Malmö was a natural choice as there is a very strong existing video game industry. I believe it has all opportunities to become the epicenter of game development in Scandinavia.”

The new offices are already fully operational, located in the beautiful town center of Malmö.

Looks like they're beefing up their tech capabilities. Also note the listing for multiplayer programmer.

Why, I'm pretty sure Swedish game development scene is much, much bigger than Danish. It's also home to the studios known for technical prowess like Massive Entertainment and DICE, so it seems pretty natural they're looking into their neighbor for programmers to beef up the engine team.

I'm glad. This was no doubt something IO pushed for, as the same happened for Hitman 2016 after they split with Squenix.

No shit. So was Hitman 2016, but Hitman 2016 only had it removed after they split from SE.
They no doubt had to argue with WB a bit to get it removed and it already being cracked is a good argument for removing it.
It's just publisher forced bullshit.

yes, just like the always online bullshit and 5 maps for 60€~70€ is a publisher enforced decision
none of IO's tremendous fuck ups are ever their responsibility, even when the IP is theirs now. funny.

These levels are so awesome and detailed they easily justify $10 for each at MSRP. The fact that most people will buy the game for $30 or even less is a fucking steal for the best Hitman game ever made.
