Not appealing to the woke crowd is the least of its problem imo. To me the whole thing is shitty just purely because of dogshit storytelling.
No matter how you tailor your dialogue choices as Kassandra, she will still come off as this sympathy reserve type, as in she has a good heart and is willing to help any troubled one that needs her help, but she's not the kind of person that can be easily swayed mentally. You know, the type that doesn't boast about their big balls or how powerful they are, but we know that they deserve respect from the time we've spent with them. That's why forcing her with Nekatas, an ugly beta male that did nothing to impress her both physically and mentally makes no sense. From what I've seen, Kassandra has zero reason to glance at him, let alone getting into a long term relationship with him. They have zero chemistry despite Ubisoft's valiant effort at "crafting" that ending, and the fact that she was so down to settling down with a guy that's totally not in her league contradicted the way her personality was written in the main game.
Also, the romance aspect in the game, they were executed so badly I prefer to see them as Ubisoft making fun of people who expected banging simulation from Bioware's games. It's easy to create an impression where you stop taking one stuff seriously, and your audience procceed to do the same. So when a plot point like this comes up in nowhere, abruptly changed your character's perspective without using time to build up emotional impact, and told audience that it was created to stay in line with the lore, it's easy to irritate players because they weren't ready for it.
And things that I'm concerned the most: Kassandra showed that she's a pretty level headed person, so why on earth would she decide to have a child when the cultists are on her ass and mercenaries hunting each other? Any responsible adult would know that there's no way an infamous mercenary that holds grudge towards world dominant religious fucks should bear a child that demands 24/24 attention, that's like hanging a can of fuel above lit fire camp. Even if Ubi planned to kill off the child in the next episode, I still failed to see how this isn't dodgy storytelling that disregard character's personality.
There's another easy way to tackle this plot too: make the child belong to
Seriously, who gives a shit about protagonist's sexuality. The bigger problem here is that Ubisoft is totally clueless at giving their character a tasteful arc, and I can't see why I should give a shit when Ubi themselves didn't.
