expensive power source only available in shops

Agree with everything except this - there should be limited sources for this, so you can use it only here or there.

limiting the player in using an ingame item is the death of passion in gameplay.
making it usable through resource expenditure and also as a big money sink, is rewarding.

This game is non-intentionally hilarious. Apparently, everyone who managed to survive was a true believer in the socialist credo. You don’t see anyone mentioning the hunger, the progroms, mass executions, disappearances and poverty. The irony is that the post-apocalyptic world presented in the game represents a substantial improvement of their past. They have freedom and markets where they can buy goods and services.

There is one Liberal in Krasno ranting publicly about the evul of KGB and :butthurt: about Council of Merchants not giving him rubbles to open newspapers dedicated to destroy the Merchant Council... and this is good illustration of Liberal opposition in any Post Soviet Country. There was also Historian in Krasno who said that Bolshevik defiled the town changing it name from Igogrod to Krasno but I did not seen many people who were big on socialism or communism in game it all about folklore (Lenin as God King from the past) or patriotism and nostalgy for better life before the perestroika fucked things up bombs fell Comrade.

the cultists that guard the elevator before the final confrontation wrecked me even if I had best armor in the game and I was buffed to the fullest

Well, it seems I wasn't buffed to the fullest because it seems... ahem... you can take the same consumable TWICE for a doubled effect. lol I didn't even tried it because is illogical.
And after that, I saw a guy buffed this way still getting wrecked and save-scumming his way past the last two encounters.
And you fuckers say that power armor in the game is decline in this game where RNG and imbalance is king?

hey Atomboy
what happened to the pools of blood like in the video above ?

Anyone got an "infinite weight" fix? This shit is beyond retarded.

I spent more time shuffling shit around in the inventory than actually playing.

Hm. Found a neat trick for soloing late game encounter.
Basically you just gotta pinpoint which one is the melee enemy and use him as a bottleneck on a doorway.

The trucker caravan or the armorer at Krasno sometimes sell them.

did someone found it? :)

In EA yes, I found those, and even Riot Shields (or USSR version of those), but in the release there was none to be found, only played with crafted shields.
I asked a couple times here if people found endgame shields and no answer. I even noticed AtomBoy of it.

I must admit the gas mask and this helmet clip nicely together; was surprised that despite the game being unity based had such nice assets like Russian tanks, military trucks, UAZ 4x4, Kamaz trucks, both destroyed and intact while Wasteland 2 had no cool US army gear, even the combat engineers jeeps were no real Humvies nor Jeeps. So instead of power amor; drivable armored cars and tanks Fallout Tactics style when Comrade Atomboy ?

Shields can be found on enemies. Not worth it due to the DE penalty.

tell the team to add that power armor and using it to require expensive power source only available in shops

also the power armor should require constant upkeep because of the damage it takes, needing many resources to maintain (scrap metal, wires, other high tier crafted components etc. or special components that spawn randomly at caravan traders) and high technology and tinkering skill levels :)
This sounds like the opposite of fun. Power armor makes no sense in the setting, and if it were anything close to FO's, it'd be too OP (as it was in FO, too). Combat's more fun when there's something at stake.

Ok, serious question now. Where can I find a R700-M and WE rifle?

Atomboy, the player can't buy a single shovel in Dead City. I had to travel all the way back to Krasno only to pick a shovel. That's not cool at all.

I found several on my playthrough. I even bought one for Alexander. Caravan traders and the armor trader at Krasnoznamenny have those at random.

Hey Atomboy, I know you've probably been bombarded with this a hundred thousand times but: Any plans to make cooking heal the entire party? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense in a verisimilitudinous way to have your party huddled around a spit with meat being cooked over a fire and only you are eating and healing, eh?

Completely unrelated:
LOL I just came upon the meat roaster who draws the Trystero symbol in the dirt. Assuming y'all are Pynchon fans? Probably my favorite modern American author...and I actually have said symbol tattooed on my left arm.

Hi, guys! Just checking in to show that I have not abandoned you. Its just that the writing season is upon me again, which means I'm writing dialogues most of my days, just barely having a spare hour for my PR MANAGER duties! Well, PR seems to be working on its own by using meme magic or something, since we were on the top page of Steam again a few days ago, so no huge loss there. I'm just going through the last pages of the thread, finding things to reply to.

For economic reasons, each and every post that contains recommendations of any kind I just copypaste to the balance guy without even typing a reply. Its the codex, so I doubt you'll recommend something silly, and even if you do, we'll figure it out sooner or later! We're really trying to make the first free DLC a blast. The three ways we're working in right now are:

Adding "situations" to the AI. Currently it knows around five or six of those, for example "Pick best weapon around and use burst against easiest to hit foe, use shot if burst not available", we're trying to add nuance.
Second thing is the balance overhaul for pistols, knuckles, melee, some perks, and shit like that. I tried to get into it and even help the guys make it, but then my mind was no longer capable of understanding all those numbers, so I left them to it. Supposedly, the outcome will be some kind of a Frankenstein's abomination of the balance guy's wish to make the game "safe for casuals", Codex suggestions, my whining about several perks and some Steam suggestions. We will test it thoroughly before posting, though, and leave a way to undo it if stuff goes wrong.
Third thing are the dungeons and quests. We're adding some new large locations, and I'm making a quest about a filthy sewer mutant in love with a beautiful surface girl. It's like a modern Greek tragedy trust me, very post-modernist.

Also...

You can buy them? Or buy/find a knife, kill rats? Dead rats give meat if you got a knife.
There's a pub as well. They sell food.
Learn how to fish maybe.

Also - I would like to raise a concern to Atomboy

Dear Devs,

Just fucking remove the ambush at start altogether.
It's just asinine how you think it adds anything to the game when speech/strength check does nothing, further adding the illusion of 'balanced' combat. You preach about combat being fair for both the player & NPCs, yet the starting fight is totally rigged for the player to lose. It's not impossible but the odds of pulling it off is so remote, it's silly to even present it as an option. Understand your mainstream crowd: if some things are possible it shouldn't feel impossible. You can show a hit chance of 1% and no one would cry foul when you miss. But when you start the first fight in the game getting knocked down every 2-3 hits, people start getting the weird idea that THIS IS HOW THE GAME IS LIKE. IT'S SHIT.

You will have a hard time convincing people that the rest of the game is not like that. Try serving a terrible opening dish in a restaurant and convince me the rest of the dinner won't be like that.

This shit results in newcomers coming in and they start getting frustrated trying to replicate the youtube video where you kill all the starter bandits with lucky dice rolls. When thread topics in Steam start with 'Fuck knockdowns' and it involves only the starting combat, the blame is on you for creating this impression.

At least give me a damn good reason why it should stay in the game.

Can't say when, but we will undo this stuff. Honestly, to me, this is a waste of time and a huge shame. I just don't get it. This fucking intro was made in a 20 minute long brainstorming session to provide an explanation for why the character starts bare ass naked instead of being armed and dangerous like a secret society operative on a mission should be. That is its only purpose. We never even thought of people trying to think about it, analyze it, make suggestions and get ideas about the game by using it :((((((( In my head it was always an intro movie! Like a five minute pizza delivery skit before the porn starts to give it a cognitive reason for starting the way it starts. But now every other review of the game gets stuck on this intro and shits on it and gives us a terrible review score because of it :/ I don't mean you personally, because you have an understandable reason for hating it. Most of us share your opinion and that's why we're going to remove this scene and change it drastically. But still, I don't get it! Who judges games by the intro?? Apparently everyone :/ Oy vey!
Hey Atomboy !

when will this be in the game?

I finished the game and none was to be found
Maybe one day, in Trudograd, you will find it. Honestly, we had tons of text about PA sent to us, especially by the Russian audience. Would be a shame not to comply. The question is - when! Because it needs a very good reason. We built this whole world, where some of the best surviving tech is a diesel powered generator in a concrete bunker (okay there's also a military AI but it's mentally handicapped and doesn't even work properly), so PA needs to be one in a lifetime prototype hidden under some pretty harsh quests and encounters.
And replying to your next post - yeah, we had cover animations, but the cover system was just like the one we have now, so we kinda removed the animations, so the players wouldn't be deceived by them. Because even though your guy would look like he is ducking behind a rock, his head would still actually be exposed to bullets, etc.
Ok, serious question now. Where can I find a R700-M and WE rifle?

Atomboy, the player can't buy a single shovel in Dead City. I had to travel all the way back to Krasno only to pick a shovel. That's not cool at all.

:rpgcodex:
Weird. I'm completely sure that we fixed the shovel thing 3 updates ago. Are you updated and totally sure you looked everywhere? I'm gonna report this to the guys for a double check.

I cried, I prayed and I begged for it since before version 1.0, but something in the code stops the guys from doing a quick and easy change. Probably now, when most bugs are fixed and we started work on a big but slow dlc update, one of the programmers might find the time to make a solution. It's one of those things that should happen 10000%, and the only reason it didn't is because the stupid "only PC eats" is like hardcoded and stuck in there :(
Dunno about the rest of us on the team, but I really loved The Crying way back when I was a college student, as it taught me about the faults of perception and the human urge to give meaning to things and find patterns in chaos. Pynchon came into my life at a very difficult time, when I had no more Vonnegut or Burroughs to read (in my defense this all happened before hipsters were invented) and I was skeptical but reading just a few pages made me love his stuff! So now Trystero is allegedly operating in the Soviet W.A.S.T.E.s. and you (like the rest of the players) probably even worked for it in a few quests without even noticing! I try to keep them reeeeally hidden. Then again, there probably is no hidden Trystero drug&slave delivery empire, that meat guy is just paranoid.

I did this on hardest difficulty setting, solo.

we started work on a big but slow dlc update
please, call it an expansion if it is a BIG dlc :P

The question is - when! Because it needs a very good reason.
Capture7864585.png

Is that giant ass gun on top of that armoured car a big enough reason? :)

but the cover system was just like the one we have now
cover as in a defensive position to shoot from and to be shot at but with a way less probability to get hit (in the head)

This sounds like the opposite of fun
Do you know what also is not fun?
Investing in skills not put to use and having lots of money and nothing to spend it on.
Power armor definitely has a place in the game.
It all depends on encounter design.

Hello, friends!
Time for another hotfix. This time we made the following improvements:

- Tools no longer vanish when crafting Heavy Crossbows
- Interraction with the Boat added even when Captain is dead
- Changed a few bugs in Dead City (VIL-a and some more)
- Optimized Krasnoznamenny, no more lag
- Fixed issues with Night Vision
- Fixed Grishka bug on the Factory
- Item duplication bug fixed in Tutorial
- Random game crashes fixed
- Prisoner in factory now correctly moves away from player path
- Car no longer gets stuck on Global map

Currently, we have started work on the first big free DLC which will add new locations, new characters, new quests and even some new mechanics. Thanks for sticking with us, guys!

Great! Now you will remove the only vestige of challenge to appease the whining.

Armour that makes every fight meaningless. Great idea, eh?

I'm using the same playtrough for two weeks now. Maybe that's it. Thanks for your time.

OMG THE INVENTORY IN THIS GAME COMES STRAIGHT FROM THE DEPHTS OF HELL!!!.
The most annoying thing is picking different pieces of paper with notes, names and numbers in different bunkers. You can't tell which is which from a glance after you reorganize your inventory, which is pratically al the time. You need to read one by one, all this in the midst of other letters, notes and whatnot. Waste of time.

the cultists that guard the elevator before the final confrontation wrecked me even if I had best armor in the game and I was buffed to the fullest

It's not that hard. Try this. Using a long range rifle, shoot one of them from a distance, in the corridor. Then run to hide behind the wall and wait from them with a heavy automatic. Once they get into line of fire, use a strong burst (you will kill two or three(!) in one go doing that). Then run again, but this time you will hide in the room in your left (this will require that you opened the door before the fight). In the process, you will get some wounds, but that's why you have super-stimulants.

If you're going to change it. Do something like keeping the map, then the PC goes to sleep, when he wakes up, his stuff if gone and there is some clue left of who did it. Then the PC can try to chase who did it, later by using the clue or something. Although, this might be a bit too much work, a full quest related to an intro.

I always thought we could later find who ambushed us at the start and exact sweet revenge, but it seems like we can't.

You can. You get a quest to defend a caravan from Peregon to Krasno and you get ambushed by the bandits from the beginning of the game. You can choose to convince them to leave you alone or kill them. I just killed them and took their stuff.

Haven't played in a little while. Probably gonna get back to the game very soon since it got some updates.
