A Wolfin needs 35 attribute points to run through the melee classes, while a Drake needs 60, (Leonar needs 55).

If you want to start as a Metalsmith and do 10 class changes (ending in Necro or another magic class), then the Wolfin does indeed need less points (15) to go through the Melee classes than the Drake (39). But since you will go through four classes in which you go up 7-8 levels each, that 25 points difference doesn't really matter at all.

And the Drake still has the advantage of much higher resistances and 50% more skill points on each levelup if you compare Drake Metalsmith and Wolfin Metalsmith (no bonus multiplier).

I've started putting this "Multiclassing Careers by Race" info here: http://grimoire.wiki/index.php/Professions#Multiclassing_Careers_by_Race

If you're doing 10 class changes and leveling to 7-8 with each one, attributes and skill points differences would be meaningless since you would have so many, but if you're making a reasonably good fighter like most people would, say:

MET-BER-RAN-WAR
MET-WAR-BER-RAN

And class changing at something like level 5, the attribute differences would matter more. Skill points not as important for fighters, and you would cover all equipment choices. You can't argue with the much better resistances of the Drake though.

Cool write up, I'll take a look.

Not really, there are some races that will have a much easier time with the 10-11 class changes routes. There are really only a few routes for 10-11 class changes:

1) Start with the Spellcasters, go through the Bard to the Melee Classes and end up as Assassin or Pirate.

2) Start with the Melee classes, become Assassin or Pirate (optional) and go through the Bard to the Spellcasters.

3) You can change the Jester to an Assassin or Thief and go through the Melee classes that way (after starting with the Spellcasters), so that works too actually.

4) Another option is to use the Cleric and Templar to go from Spellcasters to the Melee Classes and end up with either an Assassin or Pirate - or go through a Bard to the Jester. Need to look more into that one. I think it may actually cover even more classes.

So the maximum number of classes you can go through seems to be 13 out of all 15 classes. That's a maximum of 12 class changes, though this one doesn't make much sense since you need to go from a Jester to Assassin in the end:

Barrower Thaumaturge (30% bonus multiplier) to Assassin (maximum class changes):
  • 12 class changes, the Assassin-Jester career:
  • THAUMATURGE(start)-WIZARD(0p)-NECRO(40p)-SAGE(25p)-CLERIC(10p)-TEMPLAR(65p)-WARRIOR(10p)-RANGER(0p)-BERSERK(10p)-THIEF(20p)-BARD(35p)-JESTER(175p)-ASSASSIN(70p)
  • You go through all but two classes (except Metalsmith and Pirate)
  • Easy to do, though requires more luck with getting enough extra attribute points for the Necro, Templar and of course Jester. The Necro can be skipped.
  • Going from the Jester to Assassin is really optional and requires no extra points since the Jester has higher attributes.
The same as above, but you stay with the Jester in the end:

Barrower Thaumaturge (30% bonus multiplier) to Jester:
  • 11 class changes, the Jester non-plus-ultra career:
  • THAUMATURGE(start)-WIZARD(0p)-NECRO(40p)-SAGE(25p)-CLERIC(10p)-TEMPLAR(65p)-WARRIOR(10p)-BERSERK(10p)-RANGER(0p)-THIEF(20p)-BARD(35p)-JESTER(175p)
  • You go through all but three classes (except Metalsmith, Pirate and Assassin)
  • Easy to do, though requires more luck with getting enough extra attribute points for the Necro, Templar and of course Jester. The Necro can be skipped.
  • 290 points required or 290/11 = 26 extra points on average per class.

It creates great variability in game play if most characters begin to top out at level 10. It is fun to switch careers during the game and undertake a new series of skills and to try to develop the same character in a new way while the game is underway. If you compare Grimoire with your average shooter/exp quest you will see it can be quite an experience finishing just one game with all the things that happen to your characters, including their changes of profession. I wanted to make it variable enough that it is worth playing again from a new starting location and with a whole new party to experience things differently.

STARTIFER ARE YOU THE ANAL RETENTIVE WHO HAS NOW BEEN PLAYING THE GAME FOR 152 HOURS, GAVE IT A NEGATIVE REVIEW AND HAS BEEN PLAYING IT WITH MULTIPLE PARTIES BUT STILL INSISTS IT IS "NOT WORTH PLAYING?"

NO BUT REALLY

HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN EXACTLY

You're right, I don't know if I would call anything leftists are involved in "organized." Better to describe it as a "herd" that reached critical mass as a stampede. These are people I don't know and have never met who devoted up to 300-400 pages of hatred to me on some forums, 90% of it fabricated out of thin air for want of any real information. Some moderators had to delete the threads in other forums it got so crazy. I can see you don't know many people with real Asperger's. We tend to bring out the worst. Not in people. Just the worst people. My favorites are at Broken Forum - where people are discussing my mental health for a couple thousand posts (never been treated by psychiatrist for mental illness or ever taken any psychotropic drugs, ever) are the same people on a thread next to it complaining their current SSRI cocktails are not helping their depression and they are still unable to sleep because of suicidal thoughts.

That's "Cleve." Don't feel bad, all the SJWs have trouble even with the shortest words. I don't need help, because unlike all those strangers acting anonymously on the internet, I travel by my real name and I don't have any concern for them at all. I don't hang around on forums talking all day about them, thinking about them or claiming that reading something they wrote triggered me and made me start having convulsions and seizures. That will always be a one way street and I am not even interested in "getting back" at any of these people. They are not worth the trouble it would take to even remember them. Why would you? They're all just generic SJW NPCs! You met one, you met'em all.

I will admit, it renews my motivation to always read food labels and never buy anything with soya products.

Which are the most important resistances to have? I'm thinking System, Death, Mental, Mesmer and Paralyzing?

A new mechanic is coming in the next update that was turned off long ago. Every time a party character successfully saves against a condition, the resistance they saved with will in turn get a saving throw for CONSTITUTION + other factors that determines if they increase that resistance by 1 point. Eventually, having survived enough combats, resistances can rise this way to a universal capped value (usually 50 of 100) of total resistance possible except where that race/class has a resistance cap that is lower.

Is this official confirmation that V2 is not the last version of Grimoire?

It's an extraordinary "update" which will be considered for all intents and purposes the Grimoire "final" of "finals" for "finality." With a set of manual additions as well.

After that update, GOG, Itch.Io and about 17 other digital distribution systems. I am still glad it launched on the prestigious Steam.

On the first playthrough I had 6 NPC's in my party and multiclassing didn't really work yet. Thinking of going all out on multiclassing on the second playthrough from the Sanctuary (Firearms skill and a beginner Laser Gun). Will wait until the skill points bug in character creation is fixed, as well as the emptying all ammo on Laser Guns bug.

My guys will basically switch places - the spellcasters will become melee, and the fighters will become spellcasters.

1. Barrower Thaumaturge (30%) -> 11 class changes to Jester
2. Barrower Thaumaturge (30%) -> 10 class changes to Pirate
3. Barrower Thaumaturge (30%) -> 10 class changes to Assassin
4. Barrower Thaumaturge (30%) -> 10 class changes to Assassin

5. Rhattu Assassin (80%) -> 11 class changes to Necro
6. Naga Assassin (50%) -> 8 class changes to Sage
7. Drake Metalsmith (55%) -> 8 class changes to Cleric
8. Drake Metalsmith (55%) -> 11 class changes to Wizard or Thaumaturge

Assassin has Lockpicking and Wizard gets Knock Knock at Level 4 (first class change of some Thaumaturges). All will have Lethal Blow.

After completing Grimoire, I find that I've been bumped up into a higher video game bracket, hard to enjoy the mediocre stuff I was playing before. I mean my backlog has Bards Tale 4 on it. :| Thanks a lot, Cleve.

Firewalking boots. Lots and lots of firewalking boots.

Who is selling them?

And yeah, for another playthrough it's a good idea to mark all shrines on the maps since you will be able to use each one only once to buy a level up. 1 XP for 1 Gold. Though I still ended up with over 2 million in the end, despite buying 5 or 6 levels. Maybe another money sink would be nice - and I don't mean the casino. ;)

GOLDEN ERA GAMES:

Manual:
It will be in a .PDF format as soon as I have time to port it over correctly. My authoring tool just doesn't work correctly exporting to .PDF or to web pages, as you probably guessed by the table formatting problems.

The tables were originally perfect but in the conversion to HTML they got all distorted. The tool I am using did not do a good job of translating them over. Spent hours getting them perfect but was lucky if they just turned out a correct grid when the HTML was generated. The PDF was much worse than this, almost unreadable.

Hint book:
The phonebook sized hint manual will be delivered to your door in a wheelbarrel by two glistening half-naked 400 pound bodybuilders and you will need a giant concrete slab poured in the middle of your living room floor in advance to handle the weight or it will crack your foundation in your house just sitting there.

Other crap:
Matt Barton said I have to wait until the "Pon Farr" fever comes upon him so we can go to his home planet and duel to the death in the arena over his alien woman. Matt promised I will be injected with a neurotoxin that simulates death so he can claim victory while I am spirited away to be resuscitated. Best. Episode. Matt Chat. Ever. This is just the first five minutes.

Jesus Christ was the original amygdala baiter. Do you think people had a warm and fuzzy glow after he spoke? Read scripture again. He didn't get railroaded because he left crowds in a good mood. That was the Pharisee's job. The mob hated him so much they would rather they let Barabbas go, knowing Jesus was guilty of no wrong. Jesus was the original trigger.

Where does he even think of this stuff lmao

Chuckles? Okay, good to know that he actually sells some useful stuff too. I recruited him last time - the easiest way to get a Jester into your party.

As to Firewalking... There is the healing spell too. Two steps, autoheal, two steps, autoheal. ;)

Drake? Unarmed claw attacks, high natural armor class, high resistances... As to class, take the Metalsmith (Lethal Blow and 50% bonus to skill points on level up).

Iron Hands is unimpressive then?

Don't know exactly. Though if you want both Iron Hands and Lethal Blow, take the Assassin. The Rhattu Assassins have 80% bonus and Claw Attacks too. Their natural armor class and resistances are somewhat lower though.
