baronygame.com is the website.

DRM free from them. Launches the 23rd on Steam. Single and multiplayer dungeon rogue like 1st person game with minecraft colors per say. Pretty fun so far. Here is a link to a trailer for it.

Barony is a 3D, first-person roguelike. The goal of the game is to descend to the bottom of a dark dungeon known as the Devil's Bastion and destroy an undead lich named Baron Herx, who terrorized the peaceful town of Hamlet in life and is now harboring a curse against the land from beyond the grave. To aid you in your quest are friendly humans who have been eeking out a rough life within the dungeon for generations, as well as any friends you can bring with you in real life: Barony is the first of its kind as a first-person roguelike in that it fully supports cooperative multiplayer for up to four players.

~ Features ~
  • Gameplay inspired by RPG classics like Ultima Underworld, System Shock, & Daggerfall
  • Roguelike mechanics such as perma-death, random dungeons, cryptic messages and more
  • Complex but intuitive drag & drop interface for inventory and character management
  • Cooperative multiplayer for up to 4 players over internet or LAN
  • Hundreds of unique collectible items and loot
  • Dozens of secret areas and developer easter eggs
  • Bundled level editor, exposed assets, and simple formats for easy modding

It actually sounds interesting, but why go with minecraft gfx, meh

Still I will probably get it on steam but seriously the gfx :?

I don't give a shit about gfx(I still play IF games, inckuding new ones), but I guess it's my hate for Minecraft that makes me find this game ugly, sadly.
Will buy it, anyway.

My thoughts exactly. All of this sounded amazing to me - one look at the screenshots made me lose all interest instantly.

WHY WHY WHY WHY do these unimaginative indie dev assholes not realise that Minecraft graphics work for Minecraft and not for their own shitty indie titles?

Getting past the shitty minecraft graphics however I find it quite enjoyable so far. Only managed 2 runs so far this morning. Dying both on the 2nd level. Fucking boulder trap.

The game is pretty fun, and challenging, once you get past the Minecraft look (Which was technically used first in Infiniminer, but whatever)

gettin' real tired of voxel grafics

If it wasn't for the fact everything is CUBES the presentashun would actually be p. nice, reminding of early 90s 1st person games

PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I would give this game a chance. It's got a great atmosphere and plays well. Multiplayer is super fun, but it's very easy to teamkill.

So, bought this game recently after a new version came out that had some improved features and graphics. Multiplayer is fun. Yet, I would like to have a consistent group. Anyone down to play this game?

Gravedigging a bit ...

It's actually a pretty cool game. Just playing as ninja class and the stealth mechanics are fun. There is quite some diversity in available classes. They released another free DLC/addon earlier this year: Barony Blessed Addition (sic!).

Pretty fun so far, but I've died about 30-40 times so far and have just made it to dungeon level 10.

EDIT: here's the trailer for the blessed addition:

This is a first-person real-time aRPG (and quite silly gfx), with permadeath and procedural generation. Permadeath and randomness do not make a game a roguelike.

What's not to like?

The graphics are functional and considering the small development team and indie nature of the game they're fine to me.

So far hunger has been my worst enemy: died due to hunger more than due to any other cause :-(

Fair enough :)

At least I get your point now. I usually prefer turn-based combat in RPGs over hectic real time fights, but real time combat works pretty well in Barony. It kind of plays like Deus Ex paired with Dungeon Master in a voxel world.

Just got crushed by these nasty boulders. Looks like there is a world of pain ahead of me.

This game IS a lot of fun. The genre of first person roguelites should be more common.
