I found a whole bunch of additional D:OS 2 portraits in the games files, over 2000 of them. A lot of them were duplicates or near-duplicates - I found this cool little app for dealing with that: http://www.visipics.info/index.php?title=Main_Page

I came across these images when looking for information on the 1990 RPG 'Dragon Wars', which does not have its own gallery in the avatar section. The pictures are from the Amiga version of the game.

I also uploaded the .zip file with the eighteen pics to Zippyshare.

Men, can you recommend a nice looking downscaling method for pixelart images? I wanna make Emperor of the Fading Suns avatars looks beautiful in 96x96, but every downscaling method from openCV makes them look sharp and ugly. Maybe I should just blur or smooth the shit out of them after rescaling?

The pics in my post are downscaled with opencv's Lanczos, but yours looks much better without the sharp edges in high contrast areas. Thanks for recommendation, men!

OK. There are also unit portraits in game, so I would upload a huge pack of avatars tomorrow.

In Paintshop Pro (shareware), there is resizing which is what you have done and resampling which is what you see in the second example. Sometimes resampling is a bit too blurry, so applying a bit of sharpening can help.

Lanczos gives the best quality I think, but its implementation (algorithm) depends on software.

To be totally fair and impartial I didn't include my own fierce Steel Garrote Watcher avatar (and I don't have the game installed at the moment lol, though making these avatars has made me totally miss Eora and go nostalgic over how beautiful a world and fantasy Obsidian created
