I'm in the entrance to the Nest, where I have found some scrolls before. This time with my new body and objective I'm going further in. The nest has 3 levels, and I carefully navigate through to see where is the teleport that I need to fix.
There are basically three groups of Thelyds inside:
1) Worker - which is the most common one. They functionas labor for their ant colonies. There are three different categories of Workers: red workers, who forage for food, purple workers, who escort various creatures, and greenworkers, who are charged with tending the Thelyd Queen. They aren't tough to kill, but like any normal ants they tend to swarm you and they bites are quite nasty.
2) Warrior - Massive beasts with sharp big jaws who will attack you on sight. They are strong, have a lot of health and they will fight really effectively. I used spells with some spit/punch retreat strategy.
3) Elite - If you thought that Warrior is really hard to kill, than the elite will make you sweat once you see them. It is recognizable by its red and
yellow stripe. The only good thing about them, it's they numbers aren't big.
All right, let's do this. I'm moving up east first.
It looks like I'm in the food storage. There are skeletons everywhere. To my surprise I found some living people as well, but it seems like they are under some charm and won't escape with me. There is a scroll lying around.
So Sechdric, the merchant who I found near the shore was here. Interesting.
Orb of Disclosure shows me the paths of each type of the Thelyd on every level. Really useful, if you want to know what to expect around the corner.
Even with all the spells and upgraded strenght it is still easy to die if you don't tread carefully. Timing the moves is really important.
A chamber with soon to be hatched young Thelyd's
This teleporter was active from the beginning, which means I still need to look deeper. This one spawns me into the hidden room.
I wish I have had this spell while fighting Mosquito queen, really helpful that one.
Finally! Of course the teleporter is in the lowest level in the center. I can go back to the Spider Queen directly.
Oh no, no please.
Time for another trip through the webs to the future Queen. There's no time like the present.
Yes, I've repaired the teleporter! Please don't force me to the past/present you. My feet are killing me.
Oh, good.
Wait, a traitor?
Ah, it figures. I think to myself, that helping that Urthrax would be a better idea.
Damn women, you are harsh. Of course I agree to do that.
The second dialogue option isn't really subtle. But like I said before, let's talk to the creature and see if there are any options beside the obvious one.
Ah, so there wasn't a Queen from the beginning, and there is discontent among the Urtrhax species, to put it mildly.
She is at three places in different times, and is psychopatic. What did you expect?
After that I realized that this wasn't the one Urhtrax that I've been looking for. Onward!
Ah, this is the one.
I get to the point. Let's see if he attack me after that.
Well, of course you do.
I got the eyes from your dead body! I can't be more direct than this. Damn old Urthrax can't hear me good enough or something? Once again...
?
Hah, a bold and cunning plan. Let's see how the Queen reacts on that. The old Urthrax gives me also in return the Maelstrom spell scroll that he found in the food pit. It's basically a Nova spell from Diablo, really good for crowd control.
Phew, everything is fine.
The feeling is mutual. She gives me also some poison to kill Thelyd's nutrient pool. After that Urthrax and Thelyd are fighting each other in the jungle and the Nest. It's a total chaos and I avoid helping because it's easier to get killed than to make a difference.
I get back at the lowest level of the Nest.
The food chamber still has some people inside.
I forgot to mention, that I need to destroy all the pheromone dispensers as well.
Plus this one as well. I feel like I'm in the Zerg's Hive.
Ah, the nutrient pool. Time to use that poison.
There are some solid bone like pillars that are blocking me from the Thelyd's Queen. I guess I still need to destroy the last pheromone dispenser.
Plus the egg production.
After some time the path is opened. Let us see...
Gah! I didn't expect this.
Thelyd Queen
"Come closer... good
You are the one that has invaded our habitation
You are not beneficial to us...
but do come closer...
We are weak from the poison but we will grow back in time
You must be destroyed now, so that we may grow unhindered
Come even closer...
You can look threatening, but you cannot look so powerful
It'll be easy to eliminate you
That is perfect... now just stand there a moment"
The Queen is talking with two different oddly sexy voices. Most of the Queens have some real problems with their mental health.
Enough talk, it's time for another boss fight. Which isn't really hard compared to the earlier ones.
Mostly the Queen will be attempting a quick tackle, and after that she will return to her spot in the center. She is casting Whirlwind, which is annoying but not life threatening. Plus Fireball which should we really avoid. After a while she starts attacking with Disintegration, which is a really strange spell that has a low damage but sometimes it can result in instant death. And last, but not least she uses Magic Barrier, so I have had to fight physically with her. You need to keep some distance and don't try attacking her at the center, but from left/right side.
I don't even want to know what is the organic gap below the Queen.
That's it, the genocide of Thelyd's is complete. Urthrax will kill the remaining forces that are still in the jungle.
I eat the nectar like before. Now I have become a full Mutalid, although I still look the same.
A medallion ? Might be useful.
After that I go through my list of locations and the Palace of the Nobles is underlined many times.
I can't wait to visit this place in the next part.
