this does not bode well.
characters from the shitty Disney movies appear, lots of parcour and climbing and those god awful Skyrim-like finisher animations.
is another true Jedi Knight game too much to ask???

I think it looks good.

Valid complaint about the weight & speed of things being a bit to Dark-Soulsy for the Star Wars universe, but I can buy into that if this kid isn't a master. Going toe to toe with the Stormtroopers would be a hard sell if you were playing someone like Luke, but if this lad is learning the ropes I can live with that.

A shame EA are involved, but will keep an eye on it.

Try to imitate clunky Dork Souls shite is a mistake here. Whole fun of Jedi Outcast/Academy was incredibly smooth/fast flow of movement/combat, in all directions, that made PvP/Sith fights so much fun ( even if system was fairly simple). Grunt fights are better here ( previous games had ridiculously OP time slow), but for Jedi they were only fodder anyway.
Protagonist also seems far too bland to carry ( good guy saves the day) predictable plot.

Really enjoyed what I saw from it. Gameplay did look a bit linear and straightforward, but it was the combat that stole the show for me. Gave me huge Sekiro vibes - was there any kind of system similar to the posture system in Sekiro? One enemy bar was the healt, the other one was...?
Anyway, definitely gonna try and play this on hard mode.

Apparently this was played on what, Easy or Normal mode, no? Hated how on EA Play, just before the demo, they tried to frame this as being played by a pro who knows the game and its systems, and then the dude takes some stupid fucking hits from the spiders. Didn't look like that great of a player, and that hurt the showcase, in my opinion. Not that it's a problem with the combat of the game itself.

In terms of graphics, ambience, sound, everything looked/sounded great.

Saw a tweet from April this year, EA Star Wars account, saying this game won't have any loot boxes or microtransactions. If that's the case, then I'm pretty sure they have my money if what we learn more of this game keeps in line with what was shown here. We'll see.

Looks meh. Lightsabers don't sever limbs, thought at least they kill the troopers in one blow. Force Powers vs environments seem way too strong; he blew through that metal wall with a simple force push, when Qui Gon a Jedi Master needed to cut through one with his Lightsber. They should have gone with the later. The dark trooper/boss trooper with the elektrostaff took multiple hits on his armor to die; they should have him parry with the staff, and only die when a single blow from the lightsaber hits his armor.

As noted by others the feel of the movement is also wrong, there doesn't seem to be any force jumping (though likely that's available as a skill unlock) and the retarded characters from the Rogue One movie.

Still it was an alpha video, but the fact that lightsabers don't sever limbs is already a warning sign, as was the addition of the inquisitors. Not to mention we already know the main character is doomed due to the time period the game is set in.

Every time a new SW game comes out people whine about dismemberment. They don't want an MA rating, this isn't rocket science. It's like walking outside in the Winter expecting 70s and sunshine and being disappointed everyday. You do it to yourself.

The Force Unleashed II, the last single-player SW game, had dismemberment. :M

Horseshit! The movies had dismemberment, even the faggoty prequels! If the gay Middle Earth games can have severed limbs then I’d say it’s reasonable to believe a Star Wars game would have ‘em.

A Souls games doesnt work for Jedi simply because of the relative power of your character
That's only if jedi are super baddasses who can chunk through unlimited amount of stormtroopers in the glorified lightsaber porn. Which is true in this game, if those are indeed first few hours, that young boi is a lot stronger than say Kyle Katarn in JKO after he got his lightsaber back. And definitely stronger than Obi Wan in Ep4 who only engaged into lightsaber combat twice and prefered stealth and subterfuge to everything else before that.

You can absolutely do Souls Wars, just reduce the unreasonable amount of lightsaber porn to a reasonable amount.

Combat dynamic seems overall with more emphasis on "wait for an opening" than playing offensively, which makes it far too slow and sluggish, out of place for a Jedi game. This could be early game, but I doubt it will change much even late in the game.
Even without comparisons with older Jedi games, "combo dancing" style like with Platinum games/Nier Automata would work much better here. This looks like it falls into awkward middle: not fast/fluid ( as visual/animation spectacle), not tactical/precise enough ( when it comes to parry/exploiting attack patterns).

It looks incredibly dull. If you're going to make a cinematic button tapper then you should at the very least make it a spectacle. Like in the video below.

I mean, of course a big budget game getting released in 2019 with a big license behind it isn't going to be an arcadey shooter like Dark Forces, nor is it going to be like any of the golden era LucasArts games that focused on making the games mechanically great while dressing it up in an authentic coating of Star Wars. But fuck me dead, seeing this gameplay trailer makes me miss the dumb popamole shooters of yesterday. At the very least they did deliver on the action spectacle, if nothing else.

All the west (AAA) can do is spectacle, and they aren't even bringing that. Every action game the mechanics and challenge level are weak as shit, so what's the reason to play. They can only get away with this because most people gaming have never played the Jedi Knight games or even the Souls games or good Jap character action games.

Now that IS weird, swearing in SW. Seems way more out of place than anything combat wise.
