Man I really hate it when the game lets you create your own character, but then they always shows a generic white dude and treat it as the protagonist. Even Kingmaker did it, in the game.

How hard can it be to show a vague protagonist?
in pillars, in cyoa section, the protagonist always wear a hood or something that obscure their identity.

Well at least as far as i can remember

yes, because Obsidian actually care about this kind of small details. Shit even Bioware knows to make the main character of DA:I wearing a helmet to hide the face.

Most of the other RPG developers simply don't give a shit. Kingmaker shows your character as a dude wearing heavy armour, Cyberpunk has a white dude as the game's cover and in the trailer. Same with Greedyfall.

Where's the problem?
They let you create you own character, you can make a male or female, choose the skin color. Even if you make a white guy as your character, the chances is he will look different comparing to the cover guy.

So why would they put some random guy on the cover when the character players are controlling probably looks nothing like him?

Do you play promo trailer or game itself? Why give fuck about it bro? But don't worry, your and 12 other people's autistic sensibilities will be taken care of!
Just had skype group call with owner/director of every major RPG company in world. From now on, protagonist will be mysterious question mark in every promo material
Senate passed it as law too!

Hope that helps your RPG character's identity crises and brings easier sleep in the night

Most of customizable games have a few default characters guessing that guy will be one of them. You know like the male shepherd in Mass Effect, et cetera.

This is the most inane nu-gamer shit ever

Noboday cares about the cover art. Even Mass Effect has Shepherd so it is not something new. Go complain about things with more substance please.

Who wants to bet that 50% of the game will be backtracking?

Most console bros will play with the default character. How will they show any gameplay or promo material if there is no default face? I hope you realise most video games with customisable main characters have a canon face/preset. Kotor 1 canon was jesus face and Exile was a whitey woman, or something like that. Mass Effect too had a canon Shephard.

Is there any new info about this game? They post a E3 trailer and nothing has come out since.

There is something uncanny about the NPCs - they basically all have the same face model with some small changes (beards, tattoos and so on).

On the other hand the good news is that they finally overhauled the combat mechanics. It was about time.

Edit: Tbh that combat is not half bad.

Edit 2: I take it back. The boss battle was bad.
