Didn't expect Romero's game to be revealed on Nintendo's conference of all places.

Brenda Romero does have previous experience with strategy games (a writing credit on Jagged Alliance 2 and a design credit on, uh, Playboy: The Mansion) so it could be cool, but Paradox has me worried that 70% of the game will be post-launch DLC.

$180 at least

What the fuck. Was that confirmed?
It's confirmed that there will be multiple parts to the game and each will be $60. There was a leak awhile back that it will be 3 parts if I recall correctly, but it might actually be higher. Some people are saying that the first part being released only covers the part of the game that takes place in Midgar, which if true, means there will definitely be more then 3 or they will make huge cuts to the game content.

So is this game an action shooter or just looks like one?

IGN said:
During this morning’s E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, Paradox Interactive and Romero Games announced Empire of Sin, a strategy game set in prohibition-era Chicago.

In Empire of Sin, players can build their own criminal empire as one of 14 different bosses, trying to grab hold of the seedy underworld of organized crime in 1920s Chicago. The game uses randomly generated starting conditions, so players need to adapt to outsmart and outlast their opponents. Empire of Sin is coming to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in 2020.

Players are tasked with hustling, charming and intimidating their way to the top in this character-driven, noir-inspired game. Raise an empire by taking part in seedy enterprises like speakeasies, union skimming or casinos, and building a team of loyal mobsters. Players can defend and expand their territory by taking part in turn-based, strategic combat: goons can be strategically recruited to build strong chemistry and maximize combat damage.

The city is filled with active characters with their own lives - players can “schmooze, coerce, seduce, threaten, or kill them” to get the job done. Players can make and break alliances, bribe cops, trade on the black market and more to keep their empire strong. There are other strategies besides straightforward violence, however: players can use business, notoriety and more to become the king of the Chicago underworld.

Still look good:
Cyberpunk 2077
Dying Light 2
Ori and the Will of the Wisps

ManEater and The Sinking City disqualified themselves due to Epic Store Shenanigans.

Look at least Interesting:
Evil Genius 2
Songs of Conquest
Doom Eternal
ELDEN RING (Would be good to see some actual gameplay)
GreedFall (Seems like it could be interesting, no Gameplay though)
Crystal Dynamics Avengers game (If it has a SinglePlayer campaign)

Overall it was a fine E3 and I prefer this direction. Companies that didn't have shit to show had smaller shows or cancelled their shows. There's no bullshit like live shows, singing, orchestra and shit like that. Just a stream of trailers of games coming this year and next year. The major negative was the abundance of CG trailers, but it's still an announcement at least.

Internet funnyman weighs in.
Gameplay snippets of Bleeding Edge, Gears 5, and various platformers I know Codex users are dying to see more of.

Luigi's Mansion 3 looking really good. Easily the game I enjoyed the most seeing on the Direct, and now gameplay on Treehouse.
