feels like these devs do their best to make 7/10 games and only that

So it's just like risen 1, half of a good game with the later part being an unfinished shit show? Glad I pirated this, as they will never finish it content wise, best they will do is patch the technical issues and bugs.

Plot thiccens.

And I don't like it.

I mean I like what they're doing in basics. A coup story is always nice. Problem is, as usual with GreedFall, how it’s written. Okay, so there’s this mercenary (sort of, ‘cause obviously that’s not how they really operate do they, they’re more like a modern-modern private army, even more specialised and better organised than famous early modern mercenary companies, but perhaps that’s just anachronism on devs’ part) group, Coin Guard. They are employed by every faction on the island to perform tasks which regular army should perform, that is guarding, fighting and so on. And they get ideas to grab power. This is retarded ‘cause of two primary reasons.

One, it’s idiotic that none of the main factions have any standing troops on the island. It’s completely moronic, and we’re supposedly dealing with serious governments here. Yes, that the Guard was bulk of the colonizers’ forces was implied, but was that specifically stated at any point that neither THE MERCHANT CONGREGATION (of which De Retardet IS A LEGATE, no one ever forget that or Kurt will stomp you), sandniggers nor faithfags don’t have any army besides the Guard? I don’t think so. Even if that would be the case it’s a retarded plot hook and an awful convenience (just like sea gypsies being only ones who do navy stuff, but that’s beside the point).

Two, this doesn’t make sense narratively. Coin Guard was never a part of the narrative bar the instances in which it was an object with which player character interacted when interacting with its employers. If you don’t do Kurts companion quests you basically don’t see the Guard in any way, shape or form as part of the story being told. Them suddenly being a force capable of demolishing three colonial governments in a single day, this perfectly coordinated, immune to any counterintelligence apparently (three nations use this guys as their army and what, nobody thought of installing spies there, not even faithfags who have benefit of their overzealous inquisitors? yeah, right) – it’s retardation. It only doesn’t work out ‘cause of the player character, i.e. ‘cause of narrative imperative, ‘cause we all know that player characters in cRPGs are omnicompetent and unnaturally successful.

What I mean to say is that this is out of the blue and plainly stupid. The game was up until that point focused on two major narrative themes: there were natives and their relations with the colonizers and there were colonizers and their internal machinations (mostly THE MERCHANT CONGREGATION and faithfags as far as I played). And now suddenly, with one cinematic and suddenly very intense Kurt, we have this whole new thread woven into the story, what’s worse it seems it may be cut at this moment, ‘cause the main perpetrator is caught. Yes, Kurt wants to do some new companion quests which will I guess tie into the failed coup plot, but that’s mediocre at best.

Bad storytelling IMHO.

On the other hand I quite liked scene when our retardo cousin-governor finally realised what an ape would have figured out like a month ago, i.e. that he has malichor. It was a nice scene, I don’t know, I like Constantin’s voice actor perhaps.

Yeah that part bothered me too, even after doing Kurt's quests, just felt rushed and out of nowhere

Also I shitpost out of boredom. Seems to work.
I could respect shitposting when bored ;),that is why i never bitched about you in general. Still i do disagree with you about spider's games. I do like them because of how much the devs loved what they were doing, also the writing is strange yet pretty good. I don't really care about tits when it come down to rpgs,if i wanted some i would have visited the brothel at the next corner.

Plot thiccens.

Ahhh no,you must have mist it,it was hinted a few times in side quests. Also all the nations have their own armies,if they didn't you are telling them about "IT" would have had no effect. They just use them for different shit and were dependent on them. Also you not interacting with a force in the world, doesn't mean that it doesn't exits. Oh and it is the faction that i had most contact in the game for now, have no idea how you didn't noticed it. It was not bad writing, you just must have mist it. The bad writing was that i could join them in the glorious cleansing.

:negative:

I thought that Kurt was just a little bitch and was butthurt about the training.....then i asked him about the training under the major.....well now i am happy that there was a pyre :).

Mental note not to sell a piece of clothing from other factions ever again. Just had to re-buy the Sailor's Coat (after selling it) to pass as a Naut for a mission... 140 coins to waste.

Did you not do all of Kurt's companion quests up to that point?
It wasn't "out of the blue" at all.

I love people constantly shouting at others "this game is shit, how dare you playing it and like it. You should player better games like (insert games comes out in the past few years or decades)".

Or maybe you know, we are playing this game because it's new and we've played all those older games already. It's not like single player RPGs have comes out so often that we will never be keeping up with them.

They build it up pretty well actually. There's a whole slew of side quests early on that openly hint at what's gonna happen, the only bad part of that plot is lack of agency in reaction to it and how suddenly it occurs between main missions

reedfall is the same shit but somehow some posters are shilling for it on codex. Let me be clear: at best this game is on the same level as Mass Effect Andromeda (idk but maybe that one is actually better) and that one is hated while this one is loved just because of Jehanne's saggy tits.

Pretty sure its simply: 'anti-biowhore (AAA), lets all jump on them and kick them while they are down' sentiment vs 'oh look the little guy (AA) is trying so hard lets give him a pat on the back'.

I did it!

Did everything besides the Professor notes quest, fairly certain it's glitched, others online could not find the same pages I was looking for.
Most of what I have to say has already been said on earlier pages, but a quick write-up:
Pros:
  • Artstyle/Aesthetic
  • Combat is alright, very flashy and a handful of ways to build your character.
Cons:
  • Lack of player choice, more frustrating because there are plenty of instances that could've had it but didn't for whatever reason.
  • Guardian mini-bosses drop fuck all for loot, trashloot you sell for money you'll never use.
  • Protag regularly kills members of Theleme/Bridge Alliance, there are never any repercussions for this.
  • """Dungeons""" are shit, most are there to just be a backdrop for story missions.
Typical Spiders game where it's overall mediocre with a few nuggets here and there.
Worst part about this game are the dumbasses heralding this as a proper RPG, the future if dark if Greedfall is the new standard.

Kinda on the fence about this game.. On one hand it looks pretty boring .. but I'm also kinda strapped for games to play since Finishing Metro.. If I can stealth around and snap people's necks I might have fun for a weekend.

Oh nevermind, Just read this post, Hard pass seems boring as fuck.

You are missing the point, I personally will play this game if I manage to get some time and I don't think most people don't see this game as their thing are all that invested but it is fun to shitpost especially when people on the codex go "I LIKE THIS GAME THIS MUCH!", that makes it even more fun. Probably I will be a dumbass retarded and shill for another game on some other thread and be called a popamole casual loser by someone else but that is the way of the codex, just have fun, feel the butthurt, apply butthurt then forget about it and restart again. If this forum was "let's hold our hands together and praise our lord and saviors of the gaming industry", filled with a bunch of submissive cucks like most forums are it wouldn't be fun, believe me this place was more fun by 2008 or something when a bunch of insane dudes gone of endless shitposts and flame wars, Nu-codex unfortunately is too civil.

An Autistocrat will always behave in predictable ways. They see a piece of turd in a toilet bowl and they'll immediately begin to meticulously analyze it and compare it with their past experiences with 'shit'. How's the texture like? The feel of it when touched? How does it taste? If he wants to rub it all over their skin, does it allow for it or will some invisible wall prevent them from exploring that avenue? Most importantly, when compared to previous pieces of shit they interacted with, does it INCLINE, or DECLINE?

I'm still enjoying the game, but it's undeniable that the quality is decreasing as time passes... the starting area felt like Witcher 1 & 2 and offered a lot of role-playing options, but that has basically vanished after the first few quests on the island. It was very weird and disappointing that a quest like "go with inquisition investigate devil-worshiping village" has no role-playing options whatsoever and leads nowhere.

This happens in all other Spiders game, apart from Technomancer they all have a good start and then go downhill, as they clearly run out of money to add new monsters, areas, quests and content. Like Mars: War Logs I still think the first 10 hours are solid enough to recommend the game, and it's so far the best RPG of 2019, but this has been a very sad year so far. Operencia is a more polished and even experience, but the nuggets of quality in GreedFall still make it more interesting.
