Guess the fight for 11th place isn't something anyone cares about?

IG infantry blobs have some hard counters (Grey Knights and Librarian) but you have to deploy them. Point is, the majority of well-managed MP games won't give you a snowball chance of "easily" getting everything you need from your IG build, and your opponent will rush you blind if he has half an idea of what IG do.

So, half of the time you have to win in 1.5 already because your opponent doesn't know how to counter properly GL, you get rushed and you die, or you get to T2 and the game opens up immensely.

I don't find the Command squad that useful bar as a psyker boat and as an emergency stop for enemy heroes in T1, after all, it will get melted by most other heroes if they are adequately managed. The first 3 minutes of IG are the worst time of the game, a well-executed Raptor rush or Deldar push will open you up and there's nothing you can do bar bunker up losing the eco game or die. A IG player will spasmodically try to get to T1.5 or T2 like he's searching for water in the desert. IG in T2 has everything it needs to melt the face of opposition, you should be already on the road to victory.

I don't even remember the last time I have built a Leman Russ, most IG games are won or lost far sooner. The trick is, everything has a clear purpose and it's very good at the job, and your infantry tarpits are excellent if properly managed and the enemy doesn't get heavy counters (clean-up or blinding abilities, a properly managed Tau gunline).

Me and deso played. Results were not as expected!

I derped pretty heavily in game 2, but deso also played it quite well
sadly my recording of game 1 was lost, so someone else will have to upload that.

FOR WHOM INDEED?!?!

I'd like to thank everyone for playing, casting or furiously masturbating in this tourney. It's been fun, we've had some exciting serious games as well as some immortal derp to laugh at and I feel like everyone who was here for season 1 has improved a lot, even if the standings don't reflect it. Those are some nice :balanced: standings tho. Anyway, see you fags (sometimes) on steam for those 2v2 derpfests we all know and love. Dongs!
:yeah:

Terrible outing for Deso's Orks. Expected a 2-0 loss but a surprise Necron cheese made the third game mandatory. Jaedar SB makes it 2-1 after a suicidal ork onslaught accomplishes very little in Fata Morga

Man, this game is pr. hardcore. Reject showing significant improvement on his orky play.
Roxor fumbles (lag?) and meme'd to a loss in the 2nd game.
3rd game was pretty dramatic With both players pushing hard for heavy infantry options. I have never seen this insane melee mayhem before in t2 with Chaos deploying 3 Berzerker squads while Orcs just piled in Nobs and Sluggas and Shootas.

was the chili fish any good

It was really spicy with tiny salted fishes spice mix. Really great start to the day eating that stuff. Strong flavor.
It's like Beef Rendang, except with Fish.

The finals are here.

Imperial thought of the day: The road to purity is drenched in the blood of the martyred.

The match for the third place is to be played by Deso and Reject, starting with Shrine of Excellion.

The match for the grand prix will see Darth Roxor and Jaedar derp on Blood River and beyond.

Finals Preview:

Grand Final
Game 1: Roxor CSM vs Jaedar SOB
Map: Blood River
A small map doesn't help Sisters of Battle much. The Chaos Space Marines will aggressively take the map in early game while Sisters need to wait for their flamers, delaying their eco. Chaos marines may take longer to recover from morale break, but the Chaos Lord is a lethal melee machine and the Cultists are free to cap the map. The Missionary while costing 5 requisition cheaper are not as flexible, they have to work as a Faith healer to ensure the Sisters stand a chance in early game.

Tier 1 Advantage: Roxor

Going into Tier 2, the Chaos advantage continues. Chaos Vehicles are not cheap and may be vulnerable to Celestian mass, but the Khorne Berzerkers are lethal. Sporting 610 HP each and 9 seconds reinforce time, the Khorne Berzerkers can really shut down Sisters infantry hard. Berzerkers are only weak against buildings and vehicles. Those two can be left to the Hell Talons or Horrors, should they appear.

3rd Place Battle
Game 1: Reject Orkz vs Deso Necrons
Map: Shrine of Excellion
This is a challenging map for Necron due to the high amount of resource their opponents get. Orkz can take the map quickly with cheap sluggas and with massive income, comes faster Waaghh Banners. With high population, technology and income, the threat of being swarmed by Ork Horde is increased. The worst part of it all, the Necrons have a harder time defending due to the open nature of the map. Defensive Gauss Turret is almost mandatory.

Advantage: Reject

Game 1!
Jaedar finally changed his opening and went for Seraphims. This catches Roxor completely offguard. Heretics and cultists were sniped very early in the game. The Chaos Lord and Marines were outmaneuvered. But once things stabilized with LP2 defenses, the Chaos Lord and Space marines pushes into the Sisters Base and found very little resistance.

Alas, their arrival was too late for the Sisters are already headed to tier 2. The arrival of the Sorceror and Berzerkers were not sufficient to turn things around as the defensive structures and Seraphims proved too much to overcome. The Berzerkers spent most of their time chasing and getting shot to death.

With the map control lost and resource gap, Chaos were slowly pushed back by the Sisters Army. Roxor, unwilling to give up goes for Possessed Marine + Obliterator, but this time the Confessor stunning attack proved too much to overcome as the Obliterators fell victim to melee attacks.

The appearance of the demon prince was just a final fuck you, only to receive a fuck you too from the Cannoness's summoning of the Avenging Angels. With the massive resource advantage, Sisters take Game 1 convincingly.

Game 2

Game 2 - Jaedar's careful work in avoiding snares was undone when he attempted to push too deep in T1. Sustained very heavy losses and was on the backfoot for the rest of the game. Chaos deployed a Predator but Stealthsuit EMPs nullified it quickly. Without a good infantry to back it up, it's sitting duck. Three squads of Fire Warriors with a pathfinder does the death march as a Barracuda seals the deal.

Game 3 - Roxor going for risky play here with Vespid rush. Despite having the map pick, Jaedar was completely unprepared and went for the standard inferno pistol opener. This proved fatal as the lone Canoness cannot hope to respond fast enough to the flying insects. The loss of a single generator crippled the Sister's energy income for the rest of the game. And the deaths of his missionaries made his army more vulnerable to snares. This time, he could not avoid them at all. The Canoness attempted to murder the Tau Commander fives times but he always escaped with less than 50 HP.

True Survivor . 2 - 1 Roxor. Intense.
