Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
They made the two best selling turn-based CRPGs , potentially ever. That is quite remarkable. Back in the day , I agree. Now Larian are something completely different than "back in the day"

Swen: "You miss a lot in D&D—if the dice are bad, you miss," he says. "That doesn't work well in a videogame. If I do that, you're going to review it and say it's shit. Our approach has been implementing it as pure as we can, and then just seeing what works and what doesn't. Stuff that doesn't work, we start adapting until it does."

They're making a DND game where you can't roll 1...?
Getting a tiny bit sceptical here...
wait until you guys find out that this has been done for ages but you didn't know because the developers didn't explicitly state they were fudging the RNG in your favor

Makes sense too, because we kill way more monster in those games, than you will ever see in an actual campaign.

Well if true we will always have PKM where getting 3x1 in a row on d20 is fairly common.

It doesn't matter what you think. Larian has existed since 1996 and never made anything remarkable. Truth be told back in the day no one wanted to touch their stuff. Those weren't even second-rate RPGs, but third-rate ones, worth picking up only during a summer videogame drought.
If there's one thing the 'Dex loves it's janky-ass sub-par games.

I'm going to call Larian's approach a 'glory-hole marketing strategy'. It works by Larian sticking the BG3 title through a tiny hole in the internet, and then expect all the fans to start servicing it from the other side.

Meanwhile the old fans don't know what is attached to the title, so sort of roll their eyes and leave it alone, but Larian themselves seem to be hoping for a happy beginning/ending from whoever notices it sticking out from the tiny hole in a wall.

:shitposting:

Yeah. I registered comparatively late, but recently this place started to look like RPGWatch (except w/ more shills and poor news coverage).

Take a look at the hanging guy, the one nearer the "camera", as it were. Hairy abs of a male, tits of a female.

Seeing the artist is Todd Lockwood, a longtime artist for DnD stuff, and producer of things like this:

One can only assume that the deliberate tranny is a woke of the coast demand.

You're seeing things were they don't exist. It's clearly a hanged women, the black line is a shadow or a way for the author to convey the shape of her abdominal muscles.

Now here's a cool dryad artwork:

At this point, Original Sin 3 rebranded as Baldur's Gate 3 would be fine. I was very interested in the first two, the gameplay looked interesting, but the constant artillery barrage of unfunny turned me off completely. A self-indulging cliché-fest D&D would actually get me to give a shit.

I'm desperate for gameplay news just so this thread stops being a big D&D lore circlejerk.
