Well, a Scion is okay, I guess. But IMO a Sword Saint is significantly stronger.

My team has the sexiest and deadliest waifus you can recruit.
I'm still (still!) on my very slow playthrough with a str-based dual wielding sacred fist 1/archaeologist 2/dd 4/slayer 10/maybe pal 2. Offense has started catching up a bit now that I'm in the slayer levels, and having mirror image has been (unsurprisingly) very useful. Still not an overpowering build by any means, but it's been fun.

While we are it, it would be interesting to hear the builds that the more experienced players had the most fun with. I am playing a Vivisectionist now, and my next build will probably be an Eldritch Scion to see if I can get part of that Kensai Mage magic, but I am open to ideas.
I enjoyed playing a monk.

Its very worth it on every difficulty - provided that you take advantage of it.
- Shatter Defences on all martial characters ASAP.

Optionally you may also take a level of Thug on the Intimidator to make the enemies run away for 1 round - rather messy (and simply bad for aoe aiming), but can be potent if you have a strong ranged presence and reach melees with lots of potential Attacks of Opportunity.
Really, you think it's worth taking on every martial character?

Also, does the Outflank feat function on ranged characters? Who aren't flanking the target, but are attacking a target that is considered flanked?

Edit: according to some googling, Outflank is working on ranged attackers...

Finally. Beat. this. It took 5 or 6 restarts, 170 combined hours, a shit build that couldn't hit anything, cast anything or lockpick anything (and don't believe anything this game tells you, it says 15% spell failure but it's more like 75%) but I finally managed to beat this game. Some things weren't resolved as I wanted, some companions died but I don't care about any of that those two last chapters plus tenerbous depths were soul sucking and I don't know if I'm alive anymore but I do know I don't want to play this ever again

Well you beat the game, champ. Congrats. Now, go back and beat it on Unfair so you can flex on random strangers on an online forum.

Knowledgeable players of Kingmaker, help me out. I'm trying to figure out what the best weapon is for a summoner-style/Conjuration specialist Sorcerer.

I know there's a quarterstaff that grants bonuses to summoned Undead, but I can't find its stats anywhere. Other than that, what good weapons are there?

I was under the impression summoning wasn't very good in this game due to the limited options on what you can summon, and total lack of control (even when you get into intelligent summons that can speak).

When are RPGs going to finally let us have dialogue and interact with intelligent summons. Skyrim was perfect for it; Dremora Lords are intelligent and have interesting lore behind them. Read up on what happens if you accept a gift from a Daedra/Dremora, for example. Kingmaker would have been interesting to do that in as well. I want to see summons as more than just meat shields and cannon fodder in RPGs.

It's still one of the strongest things you can do just by the sheer distraction value. You can't buff summons but they do get the benefit of debuffs, and there are a lot of good ones. Monster Tactician gives summons his teamwork feats (like Outflank) so can make them marginally more useful and I've had his Monitor Lizards poison some things but you're mostly dealing with meatshields.

Even as is they're pretty OP with the way the AI works, especially with Undead immunities.

Gives Animated and Created Undead +2 weapons. You get it around Vordokai's Tomb somewhere.

I feel that dual wield is a waste of feats.

Try it ranged.

Freebooter's Bond is working ranged, not Outflank. There was a bug with Outflank working with Throwing Axes (they were counting as melee) and getting AoOs with them. I thought they'd fixed it. Haven't noticed my off-hand Throwing Axe getting it.

It's more that there are several excellent Conjuration spells like Chains of Light, and the actual summoning aspect is just a nice bonus on top of those.

True. You need to be able to close fast (including disabling the enemy with Chains and the like). If you can, then summons give you the window you need.

Are you certain that Outflank doesn't work for ranged attacks (such as Loongbow) on flanked targets?

My first post here claimed that it was and I was immediately smacked down so I tested it and I was wrong. I haven’t put it on any ranged toons since so wouldn’t know.

Shouldn’t be too hard to test.

I don't understand this conversation. To me it looks like everybody on Unfair difficulty plays with summons? Then how can we say that summons are weak?

I am not a summoning fan, just saying.

Well, the reason I ask is because I don't have Kingmaker installed right now. But if you've tested it and it didn't work, I guess it doesn't work.

Nah. I play on Unfair. I don't use summons at all. I just prebuff then auto attack things with my monk. Game is only as hard as people make it. Early game is rough, once you get past that portion of the game, it becomes noticeably easy. After the early game there are three enemies that are a pain. The Spawn of Rovagug, Wicked Chanter, and the Lantern King. The later can be easily cheesed if you become butt buddies with a certain nymph.

People like to claim this or that is weak. There are multiple effective approaches on any difficulty level. If I don’t feel like trying too hard I know a summons or ten is an easy way through a tough fight. Only something like Unfair Bokken where there are some issues taking him down quickly are an exception.

Cleavers can also be an issue - there difficult terrain/Tanglefoot Bombs are usually better.
