I do not know what mod (or EE feature) did it to me, but even ctrl + Y is powerless against new NPC. I tried to nuke Hexxat in Copper coronet, but she does not die even after 3k of damage.

Now I need to level my mage and eat her brains :negative:
Just clua the scroll in, or get Haer's dexterity-draining sword.

You can trigger conversations with ctrl + I, if you have cheats enabled. There is also the Ascension mod, which ties Sarevok's and Imoen's dialogues to event timers instead. Fair warning, the final Ascension battle (even moreso with SCS installed) makes Draconis look like a llittle puppy.

Thanks! I just waited and let the game rum, because I was curious. For everything it took me 16 hours, so I just spoke with me. I'm glad, that you can just talk to modern companions. But I have to say, Sarevoks redemption-arc is quite solid and he's well-written enough. It does help that he was an interesting character to beginn with. What doesn't make sense, is his end-narration after his redemption though. My guess is, that there were plans for another redemption, but then it got cut.

Another positive: Anomen. It's funny, as much a you hate him pre-knighted, he is an interesting character and not a bad friend after all. He got really good writing in this game. All of your companions do, especially when they rub it in Sarevoks face how much of a loser he really is. Good stuff, just too sad, that you won't see anything of it, if you are too good at this game.

What didn't make sense was that he goes East to bury Tomoko, but the thing is, you had the choice to spare her in BG1. It would have been nice to let the big lug have a happy ending like (sort of) Viconia, but nope...

Viconia (sort of) happy ending? Where?.
You end up together for a while and have a kid before she was poisoned by Lloth. Better than "You are redeemed, but guess what? Your love is dead and all you have left is to bury her on the other side of the continent."

If you can't stand the tragedy of losing your dark waifu, Edwin Romance mod (for whatever reason) includes a sappy ending for ToB where
Viconia and Bhaalspawn effortlessly wipe the floor with Lolth's assassins, ultimately get fed up, raid the Underdark, turn the entire religion's hierarchy upside down with judicious slaughter and tell Lolth to fuck off. Then, they go back home and live happily ever after.
I'm not making this up.

Hmm. I suppose Gaider's ending was at least rational.

Strange thing. I cast ray of enfeeblement on fire giant, assuming that lowering his strength to 5 should substantially lower his damage. It doesn't. I follow up with two contagions, and it works, giant starts dealing melee damages worse than my mages do. However, when enfeeblement wears of his damage output returns to normal. My assumption is that you need to lower giants strength to about 1 to change it's damage. Which doesn't make any sense.

I had the same problem so I ignored crowd control entirely. As it turns out, summons are much better for the job, bodyblocking and tanking hard hitters consistently instead of hoping for luckier rolls.

Well if you put greater malison, chant and doom on them, you can consistently manage to turn them into squirrels :)

If you're going to CC Fire Giants, just use Emotion: Hopelessness or Confusion/Chaos. It's uncommon you deal with one at a time, so targeting individuals is not optimal. If they are alone, or even in a pair--they just get chunked in a couple rounds a piece anyway. I like Ray of Enfeeblement, but there are many better choices than Contagion for Level 4 spells. Hopelessness is broken without Spell Revisions--go for that one. Confusion is also plain better. I also really like Ice Storm since my parties skew mage heavily. Since your party should be basically immune to Fire/Ice by that point, Ice Storm is excellent for not merely the unsavable damage, but the slow effect.

I just gave a try to BG2: enhanced edition. Technical improvements are welcome, but the new content is godawful. The writing and quest direction is just abysmally bad.

Take for example the whole Hexxat (or whatever she's called, it sounds like some porn star's stage name) quest.
I got it from a visibly unbalanced girl who spews incoherent nonsense about treasure. She was literally the last person you would ever trust as a quest giver. My first, second and third thoughts were that she's possessed by some malicious power that wants to lure me into a trap. But fuck it, I go with her anyway because the writers want me to. We went to the Graveyard District and found the right tomb. The girl then says something about the tomb being locked, even though it turned out I've already busted in open and plundered it.

What then goes is the most stupid task ever, crawling through a miniature dungeon beneath the tomb with the goal of literally obtaining a rod and sticking it into the right hole while jumping nonsensically between locations and fighting some undead. It took me few minutes of mouse hovering until I have finally found said hole. I dispatched that vampire boss and looted his corpse. Then came one of the worst moments in writing I've ever seen. Hexxat emerged and (apparently slowly) sucked the life out of the girl while my (neutral good) character looked and did absolutely nothing, even though his most natural reaction would be attacking and dispatching the vampire immediately in order to save the girl who was obviously the victim here. Hexxat then said something about seeing her in the tavern in the Slums and disappeared. It again took me some time to get out of the dungeon, because it turned out I have to take the rod out of the hole. The writers could really spare me any more trouble this time.

I traveled to the slum tavern, only to find that Hexxat is nowhere to find. I returned to the tomb because I thought I encountered some bug and failed to trigger something required to get her stupid ass to show up. It turned out she didn't appear because I looted the boss' corpse and took some magic cloak. Hexxat was waiting for me all the time in the dungeon. No idea why the writers found it this to be a good idea, rather that making the chick to have that stupid cloak on her from the start. Hexxat then explained that the girl she had just murdered was some poor farm gal who was forced to whore herself after her dreams were shattered. As if nothing has happened, she then wanted to join my party, to which I obviously responded by killing her. Nobody in their right mind would trust some undead bitch who treats her living companions like pawns and food supply. I apparently missed out some more content related to Hexxat, but I by default refuse to take part in anything so badly written.

I shudder what's next, since I haven't encountered any other new character yet.

Avoid all Beamdog companions at all costs. As soon as you see their garbage portrait art, either murder them or turn around and walk the other way, never looking back..

My initial plan was to do their personal quests and then to dump each one them.
The quests are just bad, just murder them immediately. I mean ok, you might miss out on some minor loot, but you'll have a better gameplay experience by avoiding the beamdog additions altogether.

There is very nice mod Convenient Enhanced Edition NPCs that not only removes new NPC, but has a component to move new items from their locations to across the main game into the shops and loot. Only issue, it is better to install before the starting the game since like in all IE modding locations and shops do not update postfactum when they are already present in the save game.

For me it is the best compromise between EE/non-EE. I'd dropped EE altogether, but many prominent modders like DavidW with SCS use its extended scripting platform for some cool features that were impossible in original.

I've read the article about Hexxat on BGWiki and goddamn.

She's apparently romanceable for a female protagonist. Imagine that someone thought it's a good idea for our action girl to do some scissoring with a piece of undead meat.

For fuck's sake.

Even worse is a female Paladin PC. Hilarious. My paladin would have executed her on the spot the second she even looked like she was going to feed off the girl.

But, of course, you can't because she is cuckdog's special snowflake. The black lesbian ninja vampire.

The cucks always have a soft spot for vampire. Never understand why.

Intellectual I guess Anne Rice's damned bodice ripper novels are to blame, (plus the later holywood sparkling vamps movies). But seriously~

Perverted monsters who pretend to be tragic and misunderstood? Looks like a perfect self-insert.
