Why the Mac version? Simple. At the time, Macs had much better graphics and sound. Also, there's the nostalgia factor, because I only played the game on Mac.
This game is the prequel to the Heroes of Might and Magic series.
Story: The enemies of King Maximus have stolen The Sceptre of Order, we have to get it back.
The sceptre is in an unknown location. To find about more about this location, we need to find and fight villains on four different continents. Each defeated villain yields a missing piece of the puzzle map. (See 'Artifact/Dig' feature of Homam) Not all pieces are required to find the sceptre. It costs time to look for the sceptre in a certain map location, 1 week IIRC. Each movement on the map costs 1 day.
We need to choose a class.
Here are the available classes, with descriptions from the game manual:
N.B.: All classes except Sorceress have to learn spellcasting at a specific location on the map. This costs gold, 3k IIRC.
