For me SR2 actually ran a lot better than GTA4.

For a lot of people Crysis ran better than GTAIV's initial performance. It took several patches to hammer out some of the problems, and even still the thing is an inexcusable resource hog that doesn't deliver equivalent performance.

That's where I picked it up, Silellak. And Crysis runs better than SR2. God damn driving stuttering. I've figured out that it's slightly more playable if you use cruise control to limit yourself at not-top speed for cars. It's ridiculous to do that in a GTA-esque game, but what the hell.

Nice!

Wonder if we'll get SR1 PC after this since SR2 seems to run on the same engine (there's leftover models in the code). I still haven't played that one.

Might do another playthrough when they release the performance patch given that this is my favorite game in the series.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I wanted to play this recently but it always crashes on startup on my Win 7 64 bit system. Tried everything - setting XP compatibility mode, running windowed, installing some tools that are supposed to fix it, installing the Gentlemen of the Row mod which includes bugfixes. Nothing helps. I always get the CTD on startup, before the game even loads.

I got about an hour of stable play using the fixes, then a crash, then constant crashing on startup after that regardless of what I tried. Even for a busted port it really stands out as a ridiculous mess

Status of Mike "IdolNinja" Watson
Mike "IdolNinja" Watson, the one of two developers who is working on the SR2 rerelease, has serious health issues and had a major surgery. I wish best of luck and I hope he recovers well.

He's such a dedicated Saints fan, remember when he got a spot at Volition to work on these games.

Played it recently. The worst was audio, like it was recorded with $0.99 microphone and had certain sounds in cutscenes made louder to annoy headphones users.

Anyway nothing beats shooting up entire bum district while listening to Final Countdown and dressed as a hooker.

Hahahahahaha I managed to get it to work... by deleting the game off my Steam library and having a friend from Bulgaria gift it to me.

Because I ended up having the censored German version on Steam, which seems to have some massive compatibility issues. Looks like you can only buy the censored German version when you're purchasing from a German IP (I didn't even buy on Steam but on Humble). Getting it gifted from a friend in a more reasonable country gave me the normal version.

Stepping down as CM and the future of the SR2 patch
I've been trying to come up with a good way to say this, but there really is not one. I'm stepping down as Volition's Community Developer.

The reason why is a simple one; the cancer that I fought so hard with last year was only a temporary victory. It has come back with a vengeance, and I only have a short time left here on this earth.

You are probably wondering what will happen with the Saints Row 2 patch project. While I will no longer be managing Community, I will continue to work on this for as long as I am able. Please understand that it is 100% my choice to spend my last days contributing to it. Both Volition and Deep Silver have been incredibly supportive and have always given me the opportunity to leave the project with a solemn vow to make sure it gets finished without me. We have also been planning for this eventual moment, and brought on additional programming help some time ago to make sure it happens. While I am hesitant to give any kind of timeline, I can say that there have been huge strides made. I am confident that it will meet everyone's high expectations and standards (including mine.)

Anyone that knows me, understands that I have the deepest love for both the people at Volition and our community. I hope I was able to shine a light on how we make games and who we are as both developers and people, and maybe make everyone's day just a little bit brighter in some small way. Oh, and one last thing... while I probably won't be here to see the launch, our new Saints Row game is absolutely going to blow the roof off. I am beyond proud to have been a part of bringing it to life.

You're like missing half of the game with the German version of the game. It's incredible to see how much has been cut from the version. They even cut the special finishers for weapons like the Katana (haha, cut, get it?).

Yeah I don't even know what I would have missed cause the German version didn't fucking launch.
English version is completely fine tho.

Are you sure that you have the non-censored version? Last time I checked, SR2 was geoblocked and you would still get the censored version of the game, even though someone from outside of Germany gifted it to you.
