I always knew they were mainstream scum that were paid for good reviews and paid to hype certain games, they proved that when Witcher 3 had full page ads and articles about it every day for 2 weeks up to and after release, but right now they have a "games of the decade" thing up to new year... So far they have Skyrim, Dark Souls, and GTA Online as games of the decade. Cunts.

I wonder how many gaming journalists have actually beaten Dark Souls blind. I feel like it is overhyped in the way that people will just say, "Oh, Dark Souls? Yeah, uh, the really hard game. It must be the best game in a while because it is hard."
You have to give it credit though, it is a pretty solid game on its own merits (I personally think it's a 4/5). We don't really get mainstream games that have its same focus on dungeon crawling and trial and error anymore.

dark souls is probably one of the most overrated games of the century
Didn't gid gud did you?
One of the worst things dark souls introduced was the idea that rote learning was the same as "being good", producing some of the most obnoxious fanboys that assume anyone who doesn't consider it the best game ever made must simply be bad at the game.

I don't read Eurogamer but from what I see at the beginning of the article those games of the decade aren't the best games but the most influential ones.
Simply skimming through the list triggers depression - you realize most of the influential games from the list don't have to be good at all, they just need great marketing.

eurogamer are massive sjws, of course everyone hates them.

they say they're activists, not reviewers. that's literally what they said.

Their Kingdom Come review is one of the most notorious pieces of woke garbage I've ever read in any major publication.

But there's also a big problem. There are no people of colour in the game beyond people from the Cuman tribe, a Turkic people from the Eurasian Steppe. The question is, should there be? The game's makers say they've done years of research and found no conclusive proof there should be, but a historian I spoke to, who specialises in the area, disagrees.

"We know of African kings in Constantinople on pilgrimage to Spain; we know of black Moors in Spain; we know of extensive travel of Jews from the courts of Cordoba and Damascus; we also know of black people in large cities in Germany," the historian, Sean Miller, tells me. Czech cities Olomouc and Prague were on the famous Silk Road which facilitated the trade of goods all over the world. If you plot a line between them, it runs directly through the area recreated in Kingdom Come. "You just can't know nobody got sick and stayed a longer time," he says. "What if a group of black Africans came through and stayed at an inn and someone got pregnant? Even one night is enough for a pregnancy."

Ever read Eurogamer's top 50 of each year lists? They're always a good laugh.
2017 for example, Nier Automata gets 36 while Mass Effect Andromeda gets 26, and What Remains of Edith Finch gets 2.
