Thankfully no but Orc wife will be sad if xir dies.

This is fucking pissing me off more than it should. It's not the fact that these things get shoved down your throat apropos of nothing, it's that it has absolutely no bearing on anything that's going on. Because THEIR OWN FUCKING IDEOLOGY posits that the sexes are absolutely 100% the same so having a character switch sexes CAN'T give them a new perspective or insight into things.

Remember when Edwin got turned into a guuuurl and ended up liking it (played for laughs) but it also humbled him somewhat? Degenerate but at least it tried to make a point.

Note that not only is that trannyism randomly shoved in, there's no way to actually convey it to the players given or plot relevance for it to exist. That's bad module character 101 regardless of what detail it is.

Some details may naturally be asked by players, or say a lot about the NPC's personality.
Where a character is from? Sure, players will likely ask that about an NPC, especially in worlds where nationalism exist (hell, people ask that all the time their first meeting in the real world).
How (rich, poor) a character grew up? Says a lot about their view of social classes and view certain things (Someone that grew up a street rat will likely overlook the same crimes).
Religion? Absolutely, especially in a world with physical deities who act on the world and demand certain conduct (so you can infer they're mostly in-line with dogma if not stated otherwise).
That drivel? Useless.

There's also a side note about how some random evil henchman npc is actually in love with his evil boss lady but doesn't have the guts to tell her. It's complete nonsense without any bearing on the story.

When you're using one of those pre-built adventures you pretty much have to build it up yourself anyway, as the DM. That was my experience with Rise of the Runelords, anyway. It's a bare framework of an adventure, with all the details missing or glossed over.

But my point was that in this day and age the game is the one making the effort to make something good out of the setting because instead of it being an advantage, it's more like a handicap. The DM building up their own story doesn't say much, because a good storyteller will always find a way, the major difference is that some settings made it easier, and others harder.

The thing I hate about transsexuals is that they exist.

I'm more annoyed that they don't (as a fundamental, inexorable identity and/or fact, like a chromosome) but that we're made to pretend that they do, with all sorts of deleterious effects like the mass mutilation of children.

Yeah. Some settings like Ravenloft, Dark Sun, Spelljammer or Eberron are fundamentally outside the norm you can use them to build unusual stories that can't be told elsewhere without more or less copying the setting. Generic fantasy setting #34114 is useless, no matter what small "twist" you put on it.

If Paizo ever stops letting Owlcat use 1E rules, Owlcat should just make an OGL game based on one of the third party APs out there. Frog God Games and Legendary Games both have multiple ones.

What are gods like in Pathfinder? I'm only 2 hrs in PK and an hour of that was deciding who I am.

Hmmm, before kingmaker's release people bitch about "forcing agenda" in that thread as well.

Actually come to think of it, every pre-release thread has people bitching about the samething. Guess it's a codex tradition at this point.

Pathfinder’s art style was pretty close to anime, so it’s no surprise they’d pepper their settings with weeb shit liek futas and yaoi.

That being said, praise Torag.

That reminds me to say another issue with this AP: The background traits

One of the traits winds up making a character a deity's kid. Race has no impact on this, so Humans can be Torag's kid (Torag actually has plenty of human followers and a dwarf wife), Elves that were born before Iomadae became a deity can be her kid divine spawn, the traditionalist Erastil will have a kid out of wedlock. ect.

The book is very explicit that all of this is actually completely and utterly pointless, to the point you meet a deity after finding out and there's absolutely nothing about how it changes things.

Devs always forget the sea god, Earthshaker and Horse Father. The gods are all landlubbers.

We're making progress. P:K was a far sight better than Deadfire.

ok its time to leave the thread as the REEEEE lvls have gone critical,in 20-30 pages when some info about the game will be known it will be safe again to visit.
until then enjoy your crypto homo fantasies.

Better let that cognitive dissonance cool off for awhile then. Must be tough to have three brain cells pulling one direction and the other two in the opposite.
