Does the Heroes 5.5 mod makes heroes 5 as good as 3? (Gameplay wise)?
I can deal with 5’s presentation, the gameplay is the most important for me.
HoMM5.5 mod description said:The contents of the new locations is completely dynamic and follows an Oblivion/Skyrim inspired constantly scaling and endlessly randomized system.
Regarding the review, methinks Sseth never suffered v1.0. Heroes V was bullcrap til TotE and only with 5.5 became really enjoyable.
Because at the time HoMM 5 came out it was common knowledge that dark elves are sluts only good for breeding.why are homm 5 dark elves are nekked?
I see nothing wrong with thisBecause at the time HoMM 5 came out it was common knowledge that dark elves are sluts only good for breeding.why are homm 5 dark elves are nekked?
it saddens me that they got Olivier Ledroit (Black Moon Chronicles, Requiem Chevalier Vampire) to do concept art for the game and mostly failed to follow it up
I always thought that HoMM5 and Dark Messiah were connected and V was "the sequel", there's that demon daddy plotline. This explains it.I'm positive the artistic direction of HoMM5 wasn't chosen by Nival but imposed by Ubisoft producers; IIRC with Tribes of the East the project manager of Dark Messiah was brought in
I never disliked HoMM5 that much, the only complaint I ever got is that it's..... graphically bland. Bar some models, the WoW-era feeling is incredibly heavy, and it saddens me that they got Olivier Ledroit (Black Moon Chronicles, Requiem Chevalier Vampire) to do concept art for the game and mostly failed to follow it up. Maybe the 3d style didn't lend itself to adapt the peculiar Heavy Metal style.
As for the game, it's a very solid timewaster.
The porn is... uhh... yeah.
The guy who did Jeanette ought to be shot. With slugs. In the guts.
(Also where's my Lobotomy Corp review Seeth you hack)
That's how it works in HOMM3 as well. Movement is calculated at the start of the day based on slowest unit in army.my guess bug is that hero movement points update at the beginning of the day, so if you start the day with fast unit you can then hoard slow ones and move as had only fast ones.
but thats a guess
VI was a dumpster fire, Ubisoft screwed the easter european shovelware factory studio that made it so hard that they released a dumpster fire of bugs, cut content and a rushed game (this thing didnt even have town screens at launch) where all gameplay changes didn't actually make the game better and all the good old stuff was removed so they could fail at reinventing the wheel. They tried to implement a RPGish system with a proper skill tree with skills you could invest instead of the random perk at level up but that system was crap the way they implemented.Just how bad VI&VII are? I know jack shit, but fucking up the basic formula of HoMM is hard. The best you can do is make it dull (Disciples has this problem, sadly, despite being magnificent in ambience).
Having figured out some of the basics after a couple of hours, I think that HoMM3 is in my Top 1 Games of All Time.
If only there was some mod that would combine the gameplay of 3 with the graphics of 2...If only HoM&M3 had nice proper sprites like the first two games, even if they still went realistic with them stylistically, instead of the 3D models digitized into 2D sprites. As much as I love Heroes 3, I've always kind of hated looking at the fucking thing...at least during the battles anyways. Although the towns have the same problem too, just not as bad.
If I were to only buy one HoMM on Steam, which would it be to get the best experience for a newcomer?
There are no good HoMMs on steam. Steam doesn't have 2 and steam version of 3 is a terrible ubisoft remaster with prosper-tier graphics and no expansions.
Get 2 or 3 on gog or any abadonware site honestly, it's not like their creators would get any money anyway. If you are limited to steam, then roll with a HoMM5 + 5.5 mod or Eador: Genesis + NH mod for best HoMM experience
