I don't think so. I beat pathfinder on the hardest difficulty with a monk. I also wasted hundreds of hours on unfair iron man making little to no progress with a monk. I also got to floor 100 with a monk on unfair, in the DLC dungeon.

Good God. People getting upset about an optional turn-based mode is about as ridiculous as it would be if people were upset about the robust customizable difficulty settings. Completely irrational behavior. People are insane.

It's just the usual combat mode factionalism unfortunately.

Even adding/allowing both doesn't stop the fanatics from whining.

I plan on using both modes personally, TB for more complex battles and RTwP for trash mobs or even switching between them depending upon my mood.

We've been so distracted by turned based that we forgot to guess what the next stretch goal is. Anybody know?

+1 Archetype per class, I originally thought it was the Investigator Class, but its +1 Archetype per class.

24 Base Classes x 6 is a 144 Archetypes. This will increase if future stretch goals include more classes like Hunter, Shifter, ect...

Plus the 6th Warpriest Archetype might be the Sacred Fist, which trades a pile of Warpriest festures for Monk features, turning the class into a monk with divine spellcasting.

I like the idea of monks but they've always been pretty hopeless as a class. PF's monks are probably the best incarnation, the older versions were a joke.
They are only good in pathfinder, in 5E they are lackluster again with little interest.

Eh, good is a stretch.

The unchained monk is alright as martials go, but it isn't amazing. A well built fighter or barbarian normally outdamages them pretty easily.

Frustratingly although Paizo fixed a lot of the base class issues with the unchained monk, they did remove one of Monks awesome features: three good saves.

Wait. I got a plan. If TB kickstarter comments can get Owlcat to implement TB. Then maybe they're reading my comments about monks. Then maybe there is still a chance for monk content. Holy shit, there is still hope, monk bros.

Did you not read the current stretch goal? Double Reactivity includes NPCs and companions reacting to your class (and race and heritage/subrace even).

That means that NPCs to will notice that you are playing a Monk and make fun of you for it accordingly.

And the next Stretch goal is +1 Archetype per class that means the Monk gets another Archetype.

We also know we get a Monk companion and the Zen Archer Archetype.

So that is your Monk content.
That's not gameplay. I want better and improved kicking and punching animations. I want cool archetypes. Zen archer is cool, but I want more. I want improved monk robes and more monk gear. I want more monk portraits too.

You will likely here about attack animations when Owlcat posts their Blog post about improvements to animation. And again the next stretch goal means another Monk Archetype for 6 total Monk archetypes, plus the basic monk class.

That would be awesome.

Standin' pretty. In this dust that was a city.
Most casuals scatter at the sight of TB. There's a reason nuXcom had to dumb it to 2AP.

Casuals scatter at most things. There are levels of casualness. The casuals you're talking about are even more casual than the ones I'm talking about
Not really. RTwP attracts more people than TB, it's pretty much why it was even created in the first place - to mimic the then popular RTS genre.

It feels like they have enough classes, archetypes and whatever. They need to work on their AI and art assets.

Yeah. Modders can add classes and stuff that is missing, more graphical variety is important.

TB is definitely more marketable and does better on the market. RTwP is generally trash that requires extensive ways to make it less trash.

Also, lots of consolefags are familiar with TB due to JRPGs. Mention RTWP to that audience and you'll just get a blank look.

Can we talk about how almost every JRPG isn't actually an rpg or would we have to take that to a new thread?
