With the new DLC on its way I wanted to split the discussion into mods and their updates on one side and bugs and glitches on the other. Some of these are just funny pictures, some are new mechanics, some are new technologies and some, I'm sure, will lead nowhere and provide nothing.

Fraternité de Rébellion

In this alternate history timeline the French Revolution is narrowly avoided through the combination of wiser policy directions, a tougher stance on governance and a little stroke of luck. Its flames of liberté, égalité, fraternité never cut across Europe and the liberal thought of the Enlightenment is in time overshadowed by the continued hegemony of the Church and the Divine Right. Through oppression of the masses and suppression of the intellectuals, the absolutist monarchs of Ancien Europe cement their grip on power throughout the 19th century.

However, the old order shall soon tremble - with Berlin erupting into a popular revolt, Prussia became a republic by 1880. Before them, Britain had transitioned into a liberal republic in the 1860s, reforming its Empire into a visionary Commonwealth. The revolutionaries vowed to spread the once extinguished ideals of the Enlightenment across Europe and the world. Now, in a Europe torn between ideological fault lines, a Great War seems inevitable, in a Europe split in two.

Führerreich

Führerreich is a double-blind alternative history scenario from the perspective of the world of Kaiserreich in which the German Empire lost the First World War to the Entente. With the support of the United States lead by the "Bull Moose Party" candidate Theodore Roosevelt, the Western Powers of France, Britain and Italy were able to overcome the might of the Kaiser's seemingly unstoppable armies. In the wake of their defeat the Central Powers were divided and weakened by their neighbors, losing their Great Power status in the process.

Despite the Entente's victory little could be done to help what was left of their Russian ally. Growing social unrest and the unjustifiable cost of war against Germany had lead Russia into a full scale Civil War in which the Leftist Bolsheviks lead by Vladimir Lenin would ultimately win, turning Russia into the world's first Socialist state, The USSR.

While the 1920's was a peaceful and prosperous decade for most of the world, the 1930's have begun to sow the seeds of another global conflict. The victorious Entente of Britain and France has collapsed as the United Kingdom follows in the foot steps of The United States and adopts an isolationist foreign policy. The Socialists in the USSR continue to modernize and industrialize their nation, threatening the stability of Eastern Europe, and most troubling of all the Far-Right nationalist ideology "Valkism" has taken power in the defeated nation of Germany. As the world enters 1936 German "Fuhrer" Adam Dressler calls for radical change in Europe as he seeks to confirm Germany's place as one of Europe's Great Powers by any means necessary.

Godspeed: A Flame for Winter

Unlike some mods, which stipulated a timeline changed by a massive world-changing event - be it a German victory in the first World War, or a world rocked by a Nazi victory in the Second - Godspeed has no single point of divergence. History begins drifting apart from our own some time around the mid-5th century CE, resulting in a world completely different from our own - at least, for the most part. The Great Powers of the world are predominantly confined to Europe - but this is not set in stone.

Godspeed makes regular use of fictional leaders - with their own portrait, of course - and blends them into the regular crowd of historical figures we’re all familiar with. We also seek to make each and every leader unique, less like a representation of a country’s politics and more like fleshed-out characters in their own right, with goals, motivations, and personality.

Total War Mod

Total War is a project that was started by Stjern who desired a mod which could give players a satisfying historical mod, with smooth gameplay and a competent AI. Since its inception the mod has grown and improved tremendously in both the quality of the content and contributors. This mod is meant to be challenging, part of the player experience is to be challenged by the gameplay itself and feel limited in the amount of choices you can make. Only the right choices can steer you towards victory.

In this mod you will notice that equipment is much more expensive. This means that the divisions are more precious to the player. No longer will you see Germany have 40 panzer divisions by 1939, it creates a more historical balance to it as production becomes very valuable, and the resources to fuel this production are almost essential to getting a functional army. To aid the player in getting his industry functioning, there are focuses, ideas and decisions to help boost the major’s performance in relation to minor countries.

World War 2 can arguably be called an economic war, and in this mod, you will feel the value of every resource under your disposal. Your goal as Germany is to in the preliminary stages of the war to create autarchy, but autarchy has its limits as chromium, tungsten and aluminium are resources which cannot be synthesized. For Japan you will need to expand into China and the resource rich areas of south east Asia to satisfy your need for resources. The allies and the Comintern, who are rich in resources need to survive the Axis onslaught and then depose the would-be rulers of the world.

We believe that the player should be rewarded for picking a national focus. Most focuses have been rebalanced and all majors have unique focus trees! You will see that a lot of national focuses are much shorter, and every focus actually matters (although some focuses are a lot cooler than others, looking at you industry focuses).

The Total War dev team has a goal in mind and that is to make it the first historical immersion mod that is eSports ready. Immersion is something that is very important to us as we are all WW2 enthusiasts, and any suggestions to how this immersion can be improved will of course be considered. Although, bear in mind that gameplay and balance will always be given priority!

what this game truly needs is an army movement ai which doesn't shuffle units through front every step forward it takes. it's disheartening to watch that heavy unit who just won a fight have to move 200 km across the battle and consequently fuck everything up.

also i don't like how old world blues direction went, most especially about the extremely little manpower available. i get it's post-apoc and shit, but it's still hoi4, it's no fun to play with 3 industries and 10 units.
