Wait, that anime/manga series about Yakuza guys being forced to look like cute young girls by their boss in order to become idols against their will is becoming a visual novel!?

I did not see that coming honestly.

I was on netflix and it turns out a series i watched was based on a visual novel.

albeit dubbed and not subbed. I had to take a break from scifi movies and shows and this was first anime entry.

Wait waht, Baldr Sky is translated?

Eien no aselia / Seinarukana might be worth it if you are looking for gameplay.
Will check that out, and yes, Baldr Sky is translated with an official release and everything, in my country it costs 37 euros right now, and once i saw this game translated on sale i had to get it.

Clannad also has other visual novels, and the developer too, they tend to be good and worth checking out, i remember my first Key VN being Planetarian which was short and sweet and seems to be pretty cheap on Steam at least.

I don't think Planetarian ever got an anime though, shame because i would love to see an adaptation of that one.

Also, not sure but i think Clannad and everything related to it are on sale in case you're interested.

I think the only VN i partially played was Monster Girl Hunter or something. Lots of fucking but that got boring fast. No choices at all dude engages in unwanted fem monsters raping him. Cums at least 3 times before passing out. I didn't get all that far tbh. Ive watched a few on youtube up to a point. Being put into an anime with fluid animation rather than stills is more to my liking.

if VN have puzzles and minigames im more likely to stick around. Seems some VN are combined with candy-crush-lime games which are ok (but again those are a bit porny). Seems VN genre has been around for a bit and probably more in depth than what i've tried.

Nope, Planetarian got an anime. The VN is superior though.

So, anyone playing any VN these days?

Just started one, it's called Nurse Love Addiction...yeah, i dunno, just felt like reading about some lesbian nurses in a nice romantic story...though apparently the bad endings are messed up and involve things like murder or cannibalism which from the little i played so far, seems like a stretch.

New RPG suck so much I started looking at other genres. Thanks Greedfall, thanks Outer Worlds.

House in Fata Morgana is 50% off on Steam now:

I don't remember why I have it in my wishlist. Is it worth buying? Seems that music is great, vibe looks cool, not sure about the rest. Reviews are amazing, but it's the usual 'best VN ever' mixed with 'boring / shit'.

So far I went through Saya no Uta and Doki Doki. Liked both (but was a little bit disappointed with Doki ending). Anything in similar vibe I should try?

Personally I like it. It is very dramatic and kinda serious for a VN. And the subject matter (which is spoiler so I won't be mentioning it here) is rather unique as well for a VN. I personally hate Saya no Uta with a passion, but I like Fata Morgana. Take that as you will.

Halfway through it becomes boring but after that it's great. But I think Umineko is better.

I dropped it. It felt like I was reading endless, boring drivel.

Eventually I got those 4:

G-Senjou No Maou
House in Fata Morgana
Umineko when they Cry
Yu-No

Started with the first one. It's OK, but boring sometimes. Reached Tsubaki chapter, will see how it goes. So far it's much softer than I expected, but some of the parts were done nicely.

G-senjo no Maou is a "ladder" trype VN, so each girl has a point where you branch out to her route. The short haried poor girl is first, the detective girl the last and the rest are in between. Some route are better than the other but I feel that it is nice.

Umineko is good but the ending is kinda eh. Higurashi is mostly better me think. Might want to read that as well.
