Who keeps letting this retarded comparison to RE4 happen?
*proceeds to compare them*
:nocountryforshitposters:

Mate, if you agree with me the comparison is retarded than why you trying so hard to defend its honor? Druckmann ain’t going to fuck you.
What do you mean? The ridiculous comparison wasn't brought up by me. I've already said it's a retarded comparison because they're not even in the same genre of games. Having an AI companion in a game where being detected doesn't matter and a stealth game are two completely different things.

The comparison isn't retarded because they're different genres, it's retarded because, according to shit you posted, they couldn't figure out a way to make Ellie fun as an escort without it making the game suck to play and constantly turning the mediocre stealth sequences into mediocre action sequences (which, hate RE4 or no, it very deliberately integrates Ashley into the game). The original point wasn't that escort gameplay can't be compared in different genres, because it certainly can and so much so that pretty much everyone hates it regardless of whether it happens in an RPG, action game, turn-based strategy or anything else. The original point was that for whatever reason the makers of TLoU decided thematically to make an "escort mission" of a game but couldn't figure out how to actually make that game work . It's emblematic of how the original TLoU is very often about watching cutscenes and listening to conversations while moving planks around because the creators wanted to tell a story first and do all that other game shit second.
Sorry, I can't help you. Learn to read. Only then are you allowed to reply to me. I'm not that interested in talking to a guy who's arguing with an imaginary person.

TheSentinel, bro, why are you whiteknighting this normie pap? You of all people, often active on the weaboo forums with all those gameplay-centric games is allhu-akbaring The Last of Us of all games?

Literally everything about this game is impressive only in cultural vacuum. Stealth is barely a feature, gunplay is serviceable at best and you'll be only impressed by the writing if you have never read a single good book in your life and the only movies you ever watch is Marvel and Transformers.

This game is a patron saint of American commercial mediocrity, a videogame equivalent of Dunning-Kruger. A prestigious Codexer obsessed with this product is like a respected food critic admitting his favourite cuisine is Five Guys.

I don't really see it as white knighting. I just don't see the good in the diarrhea that have been the past 10 pages, and half the people talking about a game they've never played based on prejudice alone while making ridiculous comparisons.

I don't think TLoU is anything close to the greatest games of all time (it's incredibly overrated and the developers are faggots), but it does a couple of things well that it deserves praise for (the crafting system, the combat that does a good job of feeling visceral which is in large part due to the excelent sound design). Unfortunately, you can't talk about any of that. All you get is either a strawman, "LOL MOVIEGAME SJW TRASH TRANNY 100GENDERS PROPAGANDA", or "x did it better, therefore y is shit", when x has nothing to do with y. It's this weird situation where both sides of the fence escalate insults ad absurdum until none of it has anything to do with videogames but with caricatures of the opposition that don't even represent reality anymore.

If Infinitron bothered to actually do moderation instead of shilling for Obsidian half this thread would've been split already like he did for PoE discussion constantly.

Besides, what am I to do? No games are out. I've been playing old shit for the past month on emulators. Elden Ring will probably be generic souls trash. Single player tactical squad based games are dead. SRPGs are dead. jRPGs are dead. Larian got BG3. ToEE will never get a remaster with additional content. Dragon's Dogma 2 is at least 3-4 years away. Sakaguchi will never make another FF. Avellone will never be in charge of another game. DQXII will probably be the last game in the franchise where all 3 creators collaborate, because sugiyama is close to death. What the fuck is the point anymore?

Yeah, I knew someone would bring that up, but that is not part of the main canon from what I understand?

So from what I read: Joel killed a bunch of doctors who wanted to perform deadly experiments on his protege, without her consent.

Also, these doctors had a history of failure, performing the same deadly experiments on more than a dozen victims, without coming up with a cure.

They are seriously pushing the „Jeol is the real bad guy“ based on this?
Well he did agree to bring her to them, then changed his mind and started blastin'. From the other characters' point of view he's at least a backstabbing mercenary. Yeah, there's a high chance of death of the subject during the procedure, but...zombie plague.

IIRC Joel wasn't aware they were going to kill her. He only decided to "betray them" (they were lying to him so it wasn't exactly betrayal) after Marlene told him Ellie wasn't going to survive the surgery. Ellie didn't know she needed to die either.

It was the first time the doctors had access to an immune specimen. The effectiveness of the surgery was never put in doubt in the game iirc, as they knew what needed to be done, they just didn't have anyone to extract the cure from.

When i was a kid my father once told me that if i ever put someone's eye out in a fight i might as well just kill them right there and then because they'll most likely come back to kill you down the lines. I have no idea why he would tell a 12 year old that, guess gotta impart those important life lessons.

It's because he knew, somewhere out there, a pirate was coming for him.

I just don't like hypocrites. You can't praise PS:T as the second coming of christ and then turn around and shit on TLoU because it's a movie game when it has more gameplay than PS:T. It's okay to dislike the game on other basis, just don't be a hypocrite and actually use your brains to justify your hatred of it.
It's really annoying how so much of the codex pretends to be monocled gentlemen who take gameplay over anything else but then you look at the top 10 lists and it's filled to the brim with games with absolute fucking garbage gameplay.

Don't do this, Sentinel. This isn't worth it. Is this what you want to be? Grouped with Sully and JDR13?
Hey man, don't leave out J_C like that.
