Might and Magic 6, or 7. Or 3, or 4+5.

Legend of Grimrock 2 also deserves an honourable mention. This series has the best puzzles in the genre. Blame Portal for positive influence.

But if those are the only two options, then Grimoire. It's essentially Wizardry 7 but with improvements... and Cleave is actually a decent writer.

Also Dramart Phantasy Star 1 is not a blobber, it is an excellent classical JRPG. It uses blobber style dungeon navigation but pretty much all other elements of the genre are missing.

Ok, I thought it was a blobber because of the first person view in dungeons. Then the OP must change the question to which one is less shit.
