GameSpy has posted an interview with Feargus Urquhart of Obsidian about Neverwinter Nights 2. It's basically a lot of spin and other fun stuff we lub about Feargie, like this right here:

GameSpy: Where are you drawing inspiration from? Are you looking to any classics?

Urquhart: We've been talking a lot lately about older games and how games have evolved since then. We have particularly been looking at some of the Ultimas -- how they really made the world almost a character in the game. When you played games like Ultima IV, you got to really know the world and you had things you wanted to do in it that weren't just making your next level. We'd really like to return to a bit of that in Neverwinter 2.

That'd be odd, since the only thing that really drives you on in the OC of Neverwinter Nights was making the next level. Nothing else was even remotely interesting enough to push you forward.

Maybe, just maybe, thats why he's referencing the Ultimas rather than NWN...

I think it sounds promising. Maybe NWN 2 will be less linear and encourage exploration and making one's own decisions about what to accomplish. Maybe they'll even create a world map. And horsies that can be ridden across the map, and then stabled automatically whenever the PC hits an area. Because there shall be no mounted knights charging into battle!
