Simplified RPG system based on OGL

A while back, someone on this forum mentioned a roleplaying system that was based on the stuff WotC released under the OGL but it had been simplified to be easier for newer players. I also think it was freely available online. I can't remember what it was called? Does anyone else have any ideas?

Whats that hard to understand in the system? Not like you have to figure out Thac0 or whatever it's called.

Maybe. However, I think I remember the website having a black background, and I think a picture of a (maybe red?) dragon was displayed on the page. I know that is vague, but I cannot recall many details.

That was probably me that mentioned it. Here's your black with red dragon:

The idea of Basic Fantasy (BFRPG) is that the OGL not only applied to 3rd edition D&D, but through a loophole, to basic D&D, AD&D 1st edition, and 2nd edition too. So suddenly tons of clones have popped up, legally. Basic Fantasy is a clone of the original basic/expert D&D books, but with some of the good stuff from 3.5 edition ported over. In particular, they brought over the d20 mechanic (bigger numbers are better, no THAC0), and they split races & classes (in old D&D, "elf" was a class -- in BFRPG, elf is a race that may select any class, as newer games do). You can see a summary of why it's pretty good, here:

You might be talking about Pathfinder. http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/

It is however not necessarily a simplification but a proper polishing of 3.5. Things like grapple are simpler, but classes have more options and more stuff to choose from.
