I stumbled upon this game in the Contact Us inbox. It's not a browser game, it's not a facebook game, and it fits the site profile (somewhat)! Amazing. Incline of the Contact Us inbox.

So what is it?

10 Fantasy Fights is a demonstration game by Merry Prankster Games. In 10 Fantasy Fights, you control a party of adventurers though a series of 10 fights designed to exercise all aspects of the SENG game engine. You will rapidly advance from a simple battle of a single inexperienced warrior against lowly minions, all the way to controlling a mighty band of legendary heroes against a near-invincible demon lord.

10 Fantasy Fights is a single player computer role-playing game for computers running Microsoft Windows. 10 Fantasy Fights is evocative of the classic CRPG games of the 90s, but updated to run well on modern computers, using modern technology.

Of course. Real-time is the culmination of all our technological progress in the realm of gaming, and progress is merely an indicator of our desire to make games that simulate real-life 1:1. Those obsolete turn-based games do not suffer from a lack of vision, they were simply made too early to utilize our most advanced technology. Now that we finally have real-time figured out there is nothing in the way of us making games so realistic that we cannot tell them apart from reality.

The next step is, naturally, making games in hypertime once the next generation of consoles is out. It would be like Prince of Persia remakes, space sim time compression and a rolling pin hitting the speed of light at just the right angle, but more extreme to the maximum.

Well, I guess if you want to play a game while traveling through hyperspace, the game itself has to utilize hypertime in order to be maximally realistic in that particular context.

real-time for maximum realism
A red flag when someone says this. Suggests a lack of deeper thinking.

Can I plead that it suggests that I spent more time working on the game than writing game announcements? In any case, it is pause-able real-time, which allows for quite tactical combat. 10FF is not an action RPG by any means... more along the lines of an Infinity Engine game.

Do let me know what you think if you get a chance to play, love it or hate it.

Thanks,
Geoff (10FF developer)
