I always felt that the cartoony graphics helped, I wouldn't go as far to say that I like them, but I think it helps the atmosphere of the game, which I feel is more arcadey and cartoony.
It's not like W1 graphics weren't cartoony.
It's simply that from W2 onwards it was overdone and made the game look less dynamic and, well, right.

Found my manual for Worms Armageddon. Got 1998 as the year on the back.
Reading the Introduction, first line.
"Worms Armageddon is the final chapter of the phenomenally successful WORMS series."
Since then, there's been like, 13 more Worms games to the series, not counting shit like Worms blast, of which there's like 6 more.

My game deleted all profiles for some bloody reason so I've been playing through all the levels for a third time, expect the next update in five-sixish hours.

I like how the puzzle tempts stupid people to aim the super sheep directly at him to kill him, which clearly wouldn't have worked. The girders were needed this time though, pretty linear.

The AI may be an awesome shot (when it's not sucking on purpose), but it apparently can't deal with complicated situations where their targets are well-protected.

What weapons are affected by the magnet, by the way ?

Projectile weapons that are made from metal, I'm assuming that gun weapons don't count as projectile, which covers things you can see on the map as they move, the shotgun is instant hit after firing, no flight time.
Cluster bomb, bazooka, grenade, holy hand grenade, airstrike, armageddon, mine, the bunker buster, and maybe homing missile? I'm not sure about the last one because you target it, then it flies to the target, so it might just bounce off the magnet, then go towards the magnet again to reach its target thereby breaking the game or something.I think metal objects on the map also count, like sentry guns, other magnets(?) and the mines.

Mind you, it looks like the mission would be almost impossible if the AI didn't suck on purpose. Having 150 HP doesn't mean much when one bazooka shot is enough to send you join the fishies.

Yeah, that's the real problem with the missions here; they put you in maps where if the AI didn't suck, you would lose, it should be maps where you can win even if the AI is playing good all the time.

It wouldn't be so bad if the contrast between them playing good and them playing bad wasn't so vast, the way it is now.. it's frankly jarring. If it's been decided that AI is going to fail hopelessly on that turn, at least make it so they don't just shotgun the wall next to them with half the map between them and their target, only to then skip a turn without firing a second shot.

When it's mission 28 out of 35, the AI shouldn't be killing off more than half their team, regardless of the map.


To be fair, it's not like if you stand in the open they won't hit you, Vlad's death is a good example of what happens when you're leaving yourself exposed, but still.

This is the kind of map where you've gotta be really careful..Not just because of the odds, but also because of the time; you see that 9:56 there in the righthand bottom corner? That's how long we've got until sudden death, all worms get 1hp and the water starts to raise.
Obviously that would be good for us, it would remove the enemy advantage and allow us to just use a couple of airstrikes to win.

Okay. Just look at what the AI has done. Somehow, somehow, the AI has managed to throw a grenade in the air for one second. This is the single frame directly prior to the grenade blowing up. Pray, explain, how the AI would remotely remotely decide this is the right course of action.
This is the single stupidest thing I have ever seen an AI do in a worms game. At least with the other stupid as hell choices you can sort of understand what they were trying to do, or how the 'thought' pattern went.

This is what all of the build up has been for. The plan is for the buffalo to hit Curdle, explode backwards off of him while sending him off the cliff, thereby killing him and hopefully putting him next to Mouse Trap. The buffalo, having bounced backwards will hit Edam, and then merrily go down the tunnels, break through them, hit Curdle and Mouse Trap, dealing enough damage to Mouse Trap so that Curdle's deathbomb will kill him, and then doing just enough damage to Stinky to knock him off the map into the water; three kills.

On the other, if they hadn't, the Squad would have easily died; nearly doing so when the AI sucked 90% of their turns.
I did play very recklessly though so..Eh.

Well. That's that. End of the line, final mission, and after being subjected to such AI just..I don't know how to describe it, I really don't. Just plain failure and nonsense. I don't really fancy trying out the other modes. Perhaps other Worms Games.

Thanks for the LP ! It's indeed a pity that the missions were often so unbalanced that the AI simply had to suck to give the player a chance.
