ag.ru has finally sold out

Nah. They routinely slag indie games solely for production values without even bothering to try playing them. Avernum - 10%. Runesword - 15%. Prelude to Darkness - 35%. King of Dragon Pass - 25%. Dominions - 30%. Fuck, if you're bloomfags, why bother reviewing such games in the first place, not like the bloomfag target auditory would care?

Maybe they wizened up with years, dunno, I quit reading them like 6 years ago.

Dung siege, Evil islands (allods), Revenant, Fableh, Titan quest & its addon, Kult are all over 80+%.

That's when publishers are too greedy. A "big" russian title is almost guaranteed to get 80+ rating.

That's what's been bothering me for quite some time now.
Why not give a perfect score for a piece of entertainment if it really entertains you well? I mean, the worth of a game lies not in the game itself, but in the player experience anyway, so if I really like this game I just couldn't give it 10/10 simply because it's not perfect? Then again, what is?

I had an English teacher in high school who would give 99s instead of 100s because "nothing is perfect." I hope that was very comforting for her.

 

Scores may be overrated, but they can succinctly sum up a reviewer's irrelevancy. The three above clearly do that for those who scored them. None of these games are close to perfect, no matter how much a particular player enjoyed them.

But... Revenant, Titan Quest and Kult deserve 80+. Especially Revenant, which is often overlooked, despite being on par with Nox.

 

Yeah, Revenant is great. Titan Quest is about 70.

 

And Evil Islads also deserve high score - it has pretty fun system of item and spell (!) crafting and enchanting, pretty complex and realistic combat system, simply stunning graphics (for the time, of course... but it still looks nice), and okayish story. The dialogues, while not really interactive (think Diablo 3), were somewhat fun.

As an action RPG it is really nice.

Also, the difficulty, when played on hard (and, funny enough, before the patch it was only difficulty) it's very refreshingly challenging.

Oh, and while it's subjective, the fact that it's completely classless is a great merit, IMO.
The multiplayer mode is pretty fun too. In fact, some of the game's aspects really shine only in multiplayer... not sure if it's good or bad.

 

Ditto. Mostly they just get by on the account of their popular forums, they dont have much taste in anything. Like, they routinely put a guy who doesnt know jack about turn-based games to review - you guessed it, turn-based games. Same with RPGs.

Honestly, though, if you've ever even seen how those guys treat other people - you'd know better than to expect anything but shit coming from them. Nomad is one of the biggest cunts i've ever known, i swear that if i ever see him in RL - he'll get a nice gob of spit in his face.

That's why I liked him in the first place. He is a superb troll and I respected him for trolling dumb fanbois until they kill themselves. However I'm afraid in the recent years AG changed so much that he has noone to troll because he is one of them now. Also Nomad is a retard for reviewing Witcher's patch as a separate game like all other people who review patches. Considering that AG already had TW review and guess what was review of 1.4 patch about? OMG they updated graphix TW is ideal now.

AG sold out much earlier than GOW2. Remember how they posted AitD review only month after the game release because they had a competition dedicated to the game sponsored by Akella. The same with Retard Alert 3 review because EA "sponsored" AG (the 'tards even changed their design to look like RA3's one - something even western cocksucking web-sites don't do).
Usually reviews from AG were coming only 3-5 days after the game's release - shit p. much started since publishers gave AG that review copy of Stranglehold - Nomad had a taste of publisher's cock down his throat and it seems he enjoyed it.
Also AG has a retarded RTS reviewer - the guy gave C&C3 80% (which for AG is like 10/10 for Gayspot) - even his colleague in the topic about RA3 didn't lose a chance to bash the 'tard quite a bit. The 'tard also gave WiC the same score.

 

Well he WAS a moderator on ag.ru, it stands to reason that he is just the same as the rest of the "scum squad".

Actually i've become so allergic to ag.ru, i once joined a gamedev bunch who were making some action/rpg thing, but as soon as i found out they had guy who is actually a moderator from ag.ru as a member - i said "fuck you" and quit.

What about fanboys who licked his ass, which is to say, majority of their forum population ?

 

I'm more upset by the fact that they decided to start reviewing console games. Hopefully, that won't increase the appeal of said games to Russians, though it already is a significant blow against the dominant status of PC games at least in the minds of AG users. While irrational hatred of consoles is begging to be crushed by those... iconoclastic intellectuals at AG.ru, I've always found the pro-PC aspect of Russian gaming community highly appealing and beneficial for the gaming industry of the nation.
