Hrmmm, last game I had a real issue with long ass late game turn times was the new Master of Orion reboot.

Ok, I only played like 30 minutes, so cannot confirm re turn times, but whereas AoW3 was super smooth for me even on my old laptop, this games isn't on my main rig that I've recently upgraded to I7. In fact, the initial loading screen is probably the longest I've ever seen outside of vanilla Civ6 (I only run Civ6 like two times, so don't know if it was improved with patches or was it just a problem with my rig in particular). The world generation also takes a considerable moment, when in AoW3 it was pretty much instant.

SO goys, I loved the original AoW. The others? I couldn't even complete Shadow Magic; never bothered with AoW 3.

Should I try this or will be disappointed when I compare it to the glorious original AoW?

Only had a quick look but it doesn't seem worse than AoW3 in this respect.

That ranking system is quite bad, it's bog standard +A on novice, +B on elite, and so on. AoW3 unit XP mattered more.

I'm demoing it right now, but the performance is terrible even on lowest settings. I'm using my sister's boyfriend's laptop, which is new and has a middle-of-the-road hardware, but it shouldn't be this terrible. Anyone else having such issues?

Edit: It's using the integrated graphics.

At least it was good for realizing the laptop isn't using the dedicated GPU at all despite all my efforts to the contrary, so it's time to RMA it.

10/10 would test laptops with it again, especially since it has a handy way to see what graphics adapter it's using.
